Ulic Qel-Droma wasn't weak. He lost his Jedi powers 10 yrs before he died and thus was able to be killed by a blaster. I mean the guy defeated Mandalore and his Basilisk War Droid in single combat.

 

Anakin Skywalker is supposed to be the strongest Jedi to join the Old Jedi Order. He pretty much wipes out the whole order.
