Craftsman Posted February 8, 2004 Posted February 8, 2004 Does anyone know if this game will be revealed at E3? When is E3 anyway?
Morgoth Posted February 8, 2004 Posted February 8, 2004 You'll see when time comes close. Edit: E3 is starting in May. Rain makes everything better.
Green Lantern Posted February 8, 2004 Posted February 8, 2004 It would be a good time to make the annoucement, so hopefully the answer is yes.
Shadowstrider Posted February 8, 2004 Posted February 8, 2004 If not in the coming weeks, or month, then they might as well wait until E3. More press for it that way.
Judge Hades Posted February 8, 2004 Posted February 8, 2004 I think it would be the smarter move, but then again hyping it up for E3 would be a good idea as well.
Morgoth Posted February 8, 2004 Posted February 8, 2004 Well I'm not sure about this but did OE ever say they'll announce their game shortly after the forums go online? Can't remember this... If Obsidian is making a game (engine) from scratch it's certainly too early to show something at E3, unless they use an existing engine (Kotor2 ?) for it. Rain makes everything better.
Aeon Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 not if they were using a middleware engine. there are some immpresive middleware going around now. Auran (of Dark Riegn fame) has an especially impressive one in Jet and Jet 2.
Niten_Ryu Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 If they make KotOR II, I bet we see that in next E3. But if they make some original game, this years E3 is probably too soon for that project. It might take next +3 years to develop. Too much hype too early is very BAD. Let's play Alpha Protocol My misadventures on youtube.
Exitium Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 If they make KotOR II, I bet we see that in next E3. But if they make some original game, this years E3 is probably too soon for that project. It might take next +3 years to develop. Too much hype too early is very BAD. Very few games take 3+ years to develop. Projects that take that long are only undertaken by studio houses that have already made a name for themselves. It is doubtful that Obsidian will have that kind of leeway with their first project. Exitium RPG Codex - the premier avant garde gaming news site. "It is more convenient to follow one's conscience than one's intelligence, for at every failure, conscience finds an excuse and an encouragement in itself. That is why there are so many conscientious and so few intelligent people." - Nietzsche
Judge Hades Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 Most games with an established engine should only take 18 to 22 months to complete, though some games would definitely could use a longer amount of time in the Q&A department *cough*Temple of Elemental Evil*cough*.
Morgoth Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 Depends on the game itself. There're games that definitively profits from longer developement times... and that not only for QA. Rain makes everything better.
Magena Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 Well I'm not sure about this but did OE ever say they'll announce their game shortly after the forums go online? Can't remember this... What I recall is being told that they wouldn't put the boards up until they had something to announce - of course that doesn't mean they will, it just means that they have enough to say something. :D
greylord Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 Does anyone know if this game will be revealed at E3? When is E3 anyway? The answer to your question is yes. Some does know. The other question has already been answered.
Mark Nazzal Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 I hope it will be revealed on E3. But I doubt that. The game needs to have a clear progress before anything will be shown. They can't just go to E3 and say "Were making a game named XXX, it's an RPG". They have to present something..
