  1. i said kotor 2. simply because i want to see what obsidian is capable of. i mean i know half life 2 and halo 2 are going to rock, but i only have a destinct feeling that kotor 2 will. halo and half life deserve to be at the top of that list though. yes i'm a FPS-whore, but those two games IMO have really yet to be surpassed, except by each other, in the last 3 years.
  2. but using the force is meant to turn you into an uber-death machine. you have this massive power that few others have. keep it as powerful. maybe restrict the FP meter or make things cost more so you can't be as cheesy. but a jedi is supposed to be a god-like warrior in comparison to normal dudes.
  3. i wouldn't find to too far fetched to see bastila as a sith lord even if you choose a LS ending. i mean she fell once, if revan left the galaxy, and didn't take her then it would be entirely possible, to a degree evem probable that she fell again without his/her love/support. i think carth may be in it, on telos. but i agree that dustil as a great anti-sith hero-leader of his people is more likely.
  4. while i agree 100%, i could also see that bio forsaw that a sequel would probably explore these elements. but they still could have had a less s***e ending
  5. read somewhere that revan has gone missing and what happened to him is important to the kotor 2 story. and if sith lords have risen out of the ashes of the war, then i wouldn't be suprised if revan is using HK to assasinate these lords. i mean as a DS charcter the are chellenges to his power, as a LS character they are sith. and HK said that his assasination protocols will come back with time.
  6. i dunno darker themes are kinda a two edged sword. sure it would rock harder then pretty much any star wars before. but at the risk of making it less 'sellable' or lucasarts cutting the guts from it. on the plus side though, assuming this is going to be an xbox and pc game alone, then the target audience is alot older then if it was PS2 or GCN, so that could benefit.
  7. i was thinking along the lines of gorth. not that you've forgotten how to use it, but that years of not using it have made it next to impossible. and kefka, how would another twist be ludicrous? eery half decent game storyline has at least one twist in it. but if you mean a reven-esque 'i was satan himself' twist then, agreed that would suck
  8. corriban would rock if you could get some proper assasination missions that could affect galatic politics. but it'd want to be far, far bigger and more populated than taris. the only reason i'd want to go to tatooine would be to get a sand dude (not a jawa the other guys, can't remember their names) on my team. it'll be cool to see post-bombardment dantooine though.
  9. i play both console RPGs and PCRPGs a fair bit. and i'd have to say that while dnd is a giant pain in the arse, its far, far better than the FF system. simply due to flexibility, and character development. in FF a level up means next to nothing, because other than maybe gaining a new spell all that happens is an increase in a couple of stats. whereas the dnd system allows alot more customization, especially for certain classes. but i'd still be voting SPECIAL as the best RPG system ever.
  10. if OE made a good kotor2 sequel sudenlly the entire RPG world knows them. just look at bioware. how many pure console gamers do you think knew that they even existed before kotor? now JE is one of the most anticipated console RPGs around simply because of kotors success. western RPGs on consoles is a bit of an emerging genre, not to mention the CRPGs could use a bit of a kick start.. OE could well become one of the 'big' names of western RPGs with a good Kotor2.
  11. it'd be ace to see another fallout after all this time. van buren or not, i'd still be excited to see it. personally i'd love to see more of the fallout world. maybe china, or europe. hell i'm pretty sure fallout 3 would go pretty close to the top of my 'most anticipated' list. being van buren would just be a bonus.
  12. I think the FPS style is the best way of playing an RPG because it allows me to play the game through the character's (that I've created myself, not necessarily by using skils/levels/attributes, but by name and such) eyes. The skills should be directly visible to me at all time (such as bad aiming when low level) but I want to execute all the action myself. To me a game like Planescape: Torment is less of a RPG than STALKER is, because in that game, when you start it up for the first time, you already have a name, a history and a "reputation" within the game world. That makes it impossible to play anyone else than the Nameless One, thus it isn't role playing to me. But you're absolutely right: this isn't a big deal. We'll just play the games we like in whichever fashion suits our tastes. I'm sure I'll be sneaking around STALKER in a cowardly RPG style in a near future anyhow For a single character game, a first person perspective isn't bad but even then you can still have attributes and skills that improve over time. Deus Ex 1, Morrowind and I think System Shock 2 had that for instance. Arx Fatalis I think did as well now that I think about. The player's level of skill even though it's based on statistics can also be made visible to you as well (and I think these games did that to a certaine extent). The fact that the history of the Nameless One and the name and model were forced on removed some role playing from the character creation point of view and the background of the character (which is why some people feel it was a bit of an adventure game). However, it still allowed you to create the character's attributes as you pleased as well as determine how you develop the character (including an interesting alignment/faction system) or whether or not you remain as a Fighter or become a Thief or a Mage so it had roleplaying in this sense. In the end, it's whatever makes the game enjoyable for you that's important. I'm probably interested enough by STALKER that if there's a demo I would download it. but character creation isn't a vital part of an RPG. no japanese RPGs have character creation but they are still RPGs. advancement is important, but it can be done in other ways than sloppy aiming at lower levels. i think that a FP view in an RPG could be excellent, we just need a game to showcase it properly.
  13. i like cut scenes. you can't just expand a story with conversations, ***SPOILER*** for example in KOTOR the battle with malak on the leviathin, or Bastila's intervention were important and had to be done, or at least pre-empted by a cut scene. it wouldn't have worked otherwise. bear in mind the the main aim of an RPG is to progress a story. not to fight
  14. ok, what about like in episode 2 the senators say that there has never been a war since the republic started. and they allude to the republic being around for about 1000 years. whereas KOTOR, which for my remeined for more faithful to the SW faith than ep 1& 2, clearly shows a republic thats been around for far longer, with many wars....
  15. i doubt we can do anything but take GSCs word that stalker is an RPG, considering that no one outside of the company has actually played the game. demos as GDC and interviews are all that the press and consequently the rest of the gaming community have seen.
  16. and then you could start project jaque chirac is evil or the we all hate vladimir putin project or any other number of leaders that dubya... err.. america.. hates
  17. well is there anything possibly important to gaming in Delaware?
  18. hmm, back to that article, it does say that there is "the player character will be customizable, upgradable, and ther -able workds that only exist in computer gaming" but i'd agree with mkreku, if a game has all the other elements of an rpg, simply missing one doesn't stop it from being an RPG,
  19. its not like anyone could report her though. i mean, you killed everyone.
  20. lol, just when most people start to think that gaming is becoming a uni-sex past time....
  21. just looking at the fable forums, it looks like its an xbox exclusive. but the developer is thinking about a PC release. probably much like halo then. and STALKER is an RPG in FPS clothing. think Dues Ex crossed with Half-Life. there is a huge interveiw with GCS in an Australian mag (PC Powerplay if anyone cares), there are subquests, a huge plot, crates ( ), and of course the option to not do the quest at all. i'm too lazy to sum up the article, but it seems to be a FPRPG
  22. would you like a list of universally acclaimed exclsuive xbox games, other than halo and kotor? panzer dragoon orta, deathrow, project gotham racing (1 & 2), the original buffy game, top spin, amped 2, moto GP 2 (i assume where not including PC in this), RalliSport Challenge, GUN VALKRIE, Jet Set Radio Future, munch's oddesey, not many of these have been commercially succesful, but that means nothing. many of these have also been around since xboxs launch or close to. that halo is xboxs only game is only a sign of ignorance. game attache rates are often used to judge the success of consoles, and last time i saw the stats (just after xmas i think) xbox had an attache rate of about 5 in comparison to 3 for ps2 and GCN. and xbox is currently priced the same as a PS2. it also means that companies releasing a game on xbox have a far greater chance of it being picked up, and succesful, since a million seller on any platform is considered very succesful
