I'm curious to see what would happen if armor recovery penalty got below 0 into negative number. Would it make your recovery faster than if you weren't wearing armor? Would it just stop at 0? Is there a way to make this happen in game(eg with abilities or talents) or would I need to cheat to test it?

Armored Grace + Cutthroat Cosmo + Miscreant’s Leathers should get you there and make you faster than naked, IIRC.

Miscreant's Leather gives you a higher speed bonus than it has a penalty, but technically it isn't lowering your recovery penalty below 0. Afaik penalty can't go below 0. You also can't achieve zero recovery because of how attack speed bonuses are calculated.

Like you can't get 100% hit to crit when using multiple conversion sources (unless on of the abilities gives you a single straight 100% crit chance).

There are a few weapons that have speed enchantments.

Other than that, it's about stacking DEX, using a pet that decreases armor recovery penalty (i.e. Cutthroat Cosmo, Abraham, or Nalvi), and picking abilities that either reduce the armor recovery penalty (e.g. Armored Grace) or provide a bonus to recovery time (e.g. Swift Strikes, Frenzy, etc.) There are consumables with similar effects as well, with the caveat that consumables count as active abilities and therefore don't stack with other actives that provide the same kind of bonus.

Yeah, some weapons have a speed bonus. Like Blade of the Endless Paths has 15% Recovery Reduction and Eager Blade has an enchant that lowers recovery each time you score a crit - up to 4 stacks, I think (and has 10% to void recovery for next attack).

There are unique pets? LOL!

Too bad I don't play either Monks or Barbarians. I really don't like classes that revolve around getting bonuses by taking maluses - especially health damage.

P.S. I asked this during PoE 1, but I am wondering if the answer is different in PoE 2:

Can you play Barbarian without using any of those skills that give maluses - such as Frenzy? I just don't want to lose health or take other maluses to get something.

I will try to look for those weapons then. Currently, I am thinking of my first party using 1 dual wield DPS guy and other 2H DPS guy.

Monk has a subclass that gains Wounds by inflicting damage, if you don’t want to have to take a beating to power your abilities.

EDIT: For 2H DPS check how I built the Lady of Pain for Deadfire. I sort of provided an update in the last few posts of the thread—BotEP is the weapon of choice.

Whoah, I didn't know. Thanks. I will take a look.

I also heard that Rangers now have a sub-class that doesn't use pets; but then isn't that no better than a Rogue or a Fighter shooting, since the Ranger's power comes from the additional damage that the pet provides? So I am still not sold on Rangers.

And yes, I will check the Lady of the Pain.

I assume that technically you can get zero recover with Scordeo's Edge proc, because it give you instant recovery for all abilities for short period of time

Solo PotD builds: The Glanfathan Soul Hunter (Neutral seer. Dominate and manipulate your enemies), Harbinger of Doom (Dark shaman. Burn and sacrifice, yourself and enemies for Skaen sake)

Yeah, technically - but that's not 0 recovery in general over a longer period of time. But yes, that's a way to experience 0 recovery. You can also get 0 recovery from Blood Thirst - but that is only 0 recovery for one attack. Maybe if you combine both you could end up aith a setup that gives you 0 recovery (regardless of normal recovery time) quite often.

Like my elder video, you can combine zero recover from Scordeo's Edge proc with priest Salvation of Time, then u get 20~30 second 0 recovery time.

Cutthroat Cosmo is a bit unique, but Abraham dog is fine (actually better for melee) and can be found in the first district of the main city hub. So not really unique.

If you don't want to use Barbarian's special, you should play a Fighter instead. Or even a ranger or paladin. A fighter is a VERY good multiclass melee character material.

Ghost Heart ranger. It's not that he doesn't use pets - he doesn't have to. He needs to actively summon them and doesn't suffer if they die.

And each class has its advantages.

Fighter is very tanky and has nice stances, which can help with engagement and provide free attacks on kill, great hit-to-crit and graze-to-hit conversions for dependency also has nice knockdown interrupts and at higher levels, nice aoe attack. Not the best ranged material, as you don't usually need to be very tanky then and the cleaving stance, knockdown don't work with ranged.

Rogue sure, is an excellent ranged DD with heavy sneak attack and ability damage bonuses plus afflictions. Ranger on the other hand is the master of stacking accuracy (so it also crits a lot) and his ranged attacks can bounce to additional targets. But nothing's stopping you from multiclassing say a ranger and a rogue.

So maybe Barb/Priest is hot shice? :)

It used to be very good with Monk/Priest and Fighter/Priest, because both have cheap ability to hit multiple enemies and thus easier to trigger the proc on the sabre. Now I haven't check it yet so dunno. Probably a single class barb + a priest yeah.
