  1. In the books Claire wears a bathing suit piloting the monster form because it's easier to take a shower than have clothes soaked in goo (since she's piloting from the inside of a monster) Admittedly the seeming fan service elements is why I took do long to get the manga, but the story I think justifies all the elements so far.
  2. Regarding Guinan... Note I still haven't watched Picard, I've only read some of the back-and-forth online.
  3. Probably not. Well the idea was to be such a super-giant-colossal name in film & television that I couldn't be told "no".
  4. I love Star Trek the Motion Picture. When it came out in 1979 I begged my parents to take us, but they couldn't afford to. So I watched it when it premiered in 1983 on ABC. To be honest I'm fascinated by Star Trek: Phase II which TMP grew out of. If I was a super-giant-colossal name in film & television, I'd totally be pitching to Paramount a Star Trek: Phase II show (as an alternative timeline piece). That's just the kind of weirdo I am.
  5. Mmmm, loving slow-mo flybys of the Enterprise in space dock...
  6. I thought the Falcons trading Ryan for a 3rd round draft pick a bit odd (even though I can understand why they needed to trade him before he triggered some clauses in his contract). The QB they picked up from the Raiders, Marcus Mariota worked with our coach when they were both with the Titans, so I guess he's familiar with the systems.
  7. I don't remember El-Hazard being completely awful, but in my defense, I saw the series once in 1995-1996 and at this point the only thing I vaguely remember about it was that the mountaineering teacher was amusing. That's right now the only male-lead isekai anime that I can say for certain I've seen (excepting random episodes of Digimon, I guess, but other than knowing I watched some episodes, I couldn't tell you a thing about it). I remember Escaflowne had a lot of buzz at one point, but I never tried watching it.
  8. Since I know there are some fans here... Sailor Moon Production Cel with Custom Painted Background (Toei Animation, c. 1992-97) featuring Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter Sailor Venus, Sailor Mercury and Artemis up for auction
  9. Google translate: "The following insects could be included: -caterpillar (of these that move very little by little) and that were passive -praying mantises -grasshoppers (perhaps to be able to use them as a mount). -scorpions (they would be very dangerous and would have poison) -snails (of those little ones), the slime can be used for concoctions and the shell for armor, etc. - ****roaches no, do not put this please hahahaha And whoever continues to give ideas of more bugs or utilities of these"
  10. Google Translate- "(1) Since the chests have 4 storage lanes we could use the milk molars or something else to upgrade the personal backpack and expand it to 4 lanes as well. (2) When you have, for example, 2 arrow holes (20 and 20) it always happens that you stay with, for example, 14 and 3, instead of joining in a single hole of 17, I know that there is a button to order, but could do it automatically when they are spent. (3) When I go out of the house I always put the inventory to my liking (food on one side, weapons on the other, etc.), but when a while goes by and you pick up other items, it always gets messy, and I feel tedious when I get home again the issue of leaving the loot, because the inventory is different from how I left it instead of each item using a slot that was empty."
  11. Google translate: "It is rare that in all categories of the game there are several levels (weapons, tools, arrows, construction, etc). It would be great if there were several types of gliders apart from dandelions, here are some ideas: -Raven Feather Glider (which would be at level 2 next to the level 2 axe) -a piece of paper (such as a paper plane or something like that), this perhaps for a single use but that would reach a long distance. -Pieces of parachutes of the typical small green military figures, which could be very limited scattered around the map. This would make us not so worried about looking sideways at the durability of the dandelion glider."
  12. Google translation - "I really like playing Grounded for its open world style, a game where you've shrunk to the size of an ant having to fight spiders, ants, and other insects. Something that I really want Grounded to have is a cold place, as an example is the sandbox, with insects that live in ice biomes, with an anthill of this place, insects that only appear there, as well as unique resources of that place. place, which will unlock new buildings and tools. A part of the map that I think would be really cool to be able to make this "biome" would be on the deck of the house, with the anthill under it having the entrance half hidden. It would be nice to have a negative effect of cold caused by the biome, as for example it is in the sandbox referring to the heat caused by the "biome". A new Boss with its own place that you can summon several times just like Broodmother. In this new place you can have a themed lab with a new chip for BURG.L that will release items, tools and buildings related to cold/ice."
  13. But did H. P. Lovecraft write "The Beast in the Cave" setting it in Arizona's Colossal Cave? Nope! **** I thought this was interesting, as I'd never heard of SNEG before (probably old news to everyone but was news to me): SNEG Director Chats Dungeons & Dragons Gold Box Classic Set
  14. He's a classic clever character type who is also monumentally dumb, and a brave and fearless character type who spends an inordinate amount of episodes yelling and running away from being shot at. To be fair, I think it was a budget issue - since Dominique looks exactly like her sister Jane, I think they reused animation of Jane from an earlier episode rather than do new animation with Dominique in her Galactic Patrol outfit.
  15. I don't think the villains were treated well, and Garfield's Peter Parker may be a bit more cool than Peter is historically. But his quippy Spider-Man is solid and they did the Gwen Stacy stuff well.
  16. Supēsu Kobura aka Space Cobra Episode XVI: "Jigoku e! Ragubōru" aka "To Hell! Rug Ball" While described as a cross between US Football and baseball, I think its more akin to a cross between US Football, Rugby and Baseball, with the name really coming from the latter two. Cobra is just minding his own business biking through the wastelands on a planet when the Galactic Patrol pull him over. Is the end of Cobra's career coming at the hands of a traffic ticket? It seems like this episode has set-up the story for the remainder of this set of episode's story arc, as I imagine the next few episodes will deal with Cobra's investigation while surviving the attacks of all the people on the team he's annoyed (pretty much everyone because he's Cobra).
  17. TNG "Eye of the Beholder" Troi investigates a mysterious suicide and once again this season we delve into a Gothic horror style story - in this case a Trek version of ghosts and, arguably, possession.
  18. Oh come on, everyone knows Bruce Payne's Damodar was the real star - he's the only person they brought back for the sequel!
  19. Akira Takarada was possibly the last speaking-line cast members from Gojira (1954) still alive. One of the suitmation actors, Katsumi Tezuka (who was the assistant to primary suit actor Haruo Nakajima) is still alive at 109 and Mr. Tezuka had a brief on-screen role as a reporter but I believe it was a non-speaking role. I think there are some speaking role actors who aren't accounted for, hence the uncertainty. Anyhow, Mr. Takarada would return time-and-time again to Toho's giant monster films franchise, appearing in Mothra vs Godzilla, Invasion of the Astro-Monster, Godzilla vs the Sea Monster, King Kong Escapes, Latitude Zero, Godzlla vs Mothra (1992), and Godzilla Final Wars. His cameo in the recent US made Godzilla (2014) sadly got left on the cutting room floor, something director Gareth Edwards discussed being a tough decision to make, but made for pacing reasons. Mr. Takarada was also a prolific voice-over artist, dubbing a number of films for the Japanese market over the years (ranging from Doctor Doolittle in the 1967 film, the 60s spy-comedy Matt Helm films, Disney's Aladdin, Star Wars Rebels and Cats) and certainly had a number of credits in non-Godzilla related films and television shows. He was a guest at a few US Godzilla conventions where he was from what I hear an enthusiastic guest who embraced his years of genre work. From 1966 to 1984 he was married to Japanese model and former Miss Universe (1959) Akiko Kojima, and they had one child, singer-actress Michiru Kojima.
  20. The soda/pop thing reminds me of a conversation I overheard at a fast food place (note I was raised and live in an area where Soda/Pop with a dark caramel color is a Coke regardless of brand). "Do you want a drink with that?" "Yeah, I'd like a Coke." "We only sell Pepsi products." "I see that, I'll take a Coke." "You mean Pepsi?" "Yes, a Coke." Obviously the Cashier wasn't from around these parts, and neither had the free will to not have had that conversation (as much as, in retrospect, both might have wished it so)!
  21. The argument, I think, would be that as you haven't done any of those things that you define as choices, it is an indicator that what you have is the illusion of a choice rather than an actual choice. That your unique combination of your biology and upbringing and education and so forth (thus the thing that is you) is defined such that your choices aren't choices but the inexorable outcome of all the things that came before you had a 'choice'. The falling dominoes have a predetermined path - they don't fall in ways contrary to that path.
  22. After Im Westen nichts Neues was used as a subtitle for the first thread, I followed up with the title of Remarque's sorta-sequel Der Weg zurück for the second thread and then for the third thread went with Remarque's Drei Kameraden. I'm a sucker for a good running theme.
  23. Revived Picard believes there are 5 lights. ... ... I'll get me coat.
  24. I think this is less about the Picard writers specifically and more the fact that modern shows only want to have anti-heroes, so they go through conniptions to retro-fit (retrograde?) characters who aren't heroes to be anti-heroes (CF: Snyder's Superman, for example or Luke in Star Wars modern sequels) TNG WAS A LIE!!!!!!!!!!123testingtesting123mikecheck
