  1. And I did not play BL at home. I played at friend's place. BL would lag horrible on my granny: Duron 800/256mb/GeForce2-32mb
  2. Yep, thanks for advise. Well, I know it all already, but I just wanted to know is it more resourse-hungry than the first one.
  3. OH, nowww..... now I'm done for........ Conspiracy!!!!!!!!!! you gotttttmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee This is crap! You guys out there can go shop a lil and buy the freaking game no problem, and I'm to buy it thru interenet, bother with those freaking cards and stuff? No thanks. If there are licensed copies here, I buy them. If not - it's not my problem.
  4. NeverwinterKnight, alright, perhaps it was foolish of me to use word "fear" there.. anyway, what I mean is that in RPG combat is not the most important thing, it's optional. Atmosphere, dialogs, characters, story - that's what's really matters in RPG. So I can't see why you are so agrivated at this point.
  5. So just forget it. It's pointless blaming customers. We have no other choice but to buy pirated copies. Let the game-software-companies get into the heart of the problem and sue the pirates. Enough of this off-topic, anyway.
  6. Well, I recommend looking forward to Phase: The Exodus. I think it'll be a pretty good PA game... And of course STALKER.
  7. Damn gonna like this forum! So funny! Anyways, I have a similar question, tho: do you think KOTOR2 will lag more than KOTOR1? I mean, the engine is the same, but what about other improvements? I hope they won't hinder the framerate. My comp, btw, is pretty similar to the "issuer"'s: duron 800, 256 dimm, GeForce2 MX400 32mb. Pretty ****ty, I know, but KOTOR-1 seemed to run pretty smoothly. I wonder how things will change with KOTOR2.....
  8. I see no reason to make a sequel or prequel. The story is finite, anything else would be just out of place... it's finished, okay? BUt of course it would be cool to have another game in Planescape setting. But the name must be different: like "Planescape: [put the name here]"
  9. ROFLMAO!!!!!!! Man, you crackin' me up! It's not my freaking fault that there is no CIS publisher here! First live in my country, then speak.
  10. I'm not for changing the WHOLE game. I'm for changing only combat system. Everything else is great. The atmosphere, dialogs, characters.... it's all RPG aspects that must always remain true to the genre standart (BG2 etc). But alright, I get the point. Most of RPGplayers seem to have a deep fear of action-based combat.... But it stilll doesn't make sense: do you value combat above all else in RPG??? I mean, why bother which combat to have? What's wrong with having both in different RPGs? I don't mind. One day I can play BG2/Torment/IWD with tactical combat, best spellcasting system and the rest, while the other day enjoy a fast-paced action-combat in Gothic.
  11. And Bloodlines is great! Look at the awards! It's one of the best RPGs of the past two years. Plus, consider illegal sales also ^_^ I have a pirated version ^_^
  12. Yeah, good one. But I fail to recognize the correlation between Troika's shutting down rumors and Gothic's combat system........ Well, I like its combat also ^_^
  13. Well, first of all, post-soviet game industry is too weak right now. Only recently there have been some serious progress. But still, the progress is good: http://rpgvault.ign.com/articles/579/579421p1.html here you can find a good review of post-apoc... erm... soviet game industry from western perspective.
  14. Yeah, like a lil intro movie, no more. ^_^ Anyway, I don't even consider Ghost at all, since it's not a Blizz project Everything is possible. That's right: just different. THere is no such thing as "best it, or not". It's juist gonna be differnet., and equally great. Just like WC3:TFT and SC2 - both masterpieces, but very different. Although still SC2 must retain that atmosphere, although strategic aspects may vary.
  15. For me, it's always been StarCraft and Wacraft 3: TFT. I love cyber-sport games. I'm really happy to see that it's getting more and more solid. It's actually a sport and I'm sure sometime it will be in the olympics. Wel, there is WCG now, anyway.
  16. Alright, I know most of you're a furious opponents of JKA concept. I think Oblivion and Gothic will prove that action-based figthing with heavy relience on skills/stats is a viable design. Here's what Gavin Carter said in some interview about the upcoming Oblivion's new combat system:
  17. Oh, and about piracy: well, ALL of the post-soviet countries just bathe in piracy! Well, now things are changing: there are some Russian local publishers that take care of licensed trade (like 1C or Buka or Rusobit), but still piracy is everywhere. And for us, it's kinda funny to read posts like "Goddamn, 3dsmax is soo expensive..." I got the latest 3dsmax for about 5 bucks here. I know it's bad, and I really feel bad buying it this way, knowing that a company that you love so much will get no money from you, but such is the situation here. Plus, I don't earn much, so I just can't afford a licensed copy.
  18. In recent interview Sams and Metzen told us that Blizzard will not do solely MMORPGs, it will be just a part of their company. So, they'll continue creating games like StarCraft. So I'm sure that SC2 WILL be. But for now, they gotta stabilize the WoW, because it's a whole new genre for them, so it's kinda hard to adjust to its complexity. Once they get pretty comfortable with WoW, they'll put a lot of effort into SC2.
  19. What a sack of gecko ****...... You really believe it?? Troika is alive and well, they're in the middle of developing their new Post-apoc 3d RPG. And Bloodlines was a FRGGIN" BIG HIT! A masterpiece. So let all those naysayers shut their filthy traps.
  20. Well, we're all different. But some of you really think that all FPS are dumb button-mashing...... you poor things. Play a duel in Q3 vs a skilled player and you'll understand that it requiers as much hand-eye coord as actual tactics and quick-mind. I think that there should be some variety... some RPGs action-based, some - turn-based or the like. I love'em all (depending on the game, of course).
  21. Here's a new one. Created under a heavy artistic influence from Gothic.
  22. About violence in games: I see no reason in blaming games for violense in real-life. I think it all depends on a person: if he is demented, he may have homicidal urges even when watching Bamby. Blame the players, not the game.
  23. Inappropriate comparison. We're talking about computer rpgs, and it's a whole different story. Why do you cage yourself in standarts? RPG can remain RPG even if the combat system is action-based, why not? As long as it has freedom of choice, good dialogs, great story and live world it remains true RPG. But of course, I don't like the idea of DnD-style RPGs being action-based.... The problem is magic: every single Action_RPG has CRAPPY magic system - take Morrowind or GOthic for example. Full crap. But for StarWars, I think it'll fit in, because Force is a lil different - it's not so wide-varied as, say, DnD magic.
