  1. The enchantment system undermines to some degree the joy of finding unique treasure. I don't find much at all that's any better than a Fine whatever. Also where the hell are all the belts?
  2. I can't use my Chanter to create a Napoleonic party anymore. Outrageous.
  3. All this talk about magic being lessened when I feel I'm doing something wrong if I don't drown enemies in a dozen different debuffs every fight.
  4. I do love the game apart from one unforgivable issue that a pistol with Flaming Lash looks like a gun shaped lighter.
  5. You could always make it a personal goal to kill every backer character.
  6. Now I've gotten the really juicy higher level Invocations and Phrases, Chanter. Stick him in the middle of a party with a pistol and Ila's for damage. Weapon and a shield for emergency off-tanking.
  7. Fireball isn't dangerous at all because you can clearly see if it's going to hit your own guys.
  8. I'm pretty sure there's a magic flail in the Temple of Eorthas. My Chanter was using it anyway. Drains Endurance on hit.
  9. I've not had a look at Noxious Blast honestly. But calling Fireball useless in any context is moronic. I'm quite happy launching it at a group of Forest Trolls as their about to hit the front line. No, actually, when we're talking about Wizard spells we're talking about one of the aspects of Pillars that is taken from D&D pretty much wholesale, except for the changes they made to try and nerf them (no more summon spells, no buffing outside of combat). Except they made burning hands far more powerful (multiply AoE by x2 or x3, average damage by more than x20, depending on your Intellect and Might) and drastically weakened fireball (reduce range to 10m, divide AoE by half). Why is this an issue again? Because the number in the spell book says it's two levels higher and so should melt suns?
  10. But it's not. The only reason Fireball was a gamble in BG was because you had to get a feel for the radius.
  11. Strategically it's more powerful because you can use it safely in more situations. Tight rooms and corridors where your Wizard can't find a gap? Fireball. Too close to an enemies engagement radius? Fireball. If it did as much or more damage than Fan you would never use Fan again.
  12. Fireball is a third level spell. It should not be balanced against a first level spell. That is not how balance works. Says who? Your pompous bold italic text?
  13. The advantage comes from Fireball being easier to position for. You can keep your Wiz in his usual spot in the back and fling a FyeBawl just far enough of your front line to still envelop most mobs. With Fan I have to take a risk in moving my Wiz round the sides to flank which makes him vulnerable.
  14. I'll take double damage with guns over "You might resist this Will/Fort attack 1 extra time out of 20".
  15. It probably shouldn't work with guns, really. Doubling the DPS of four party members with guns, instantly and indefinitely at the start of a fight, makes Trolls cry.
