And the original comic was supposed to have an art style and colour scheme that resembled Ancient Greek amphoras. The movie is just going for the same thing. You need special effects for that.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=-uWBPCmkSec That's if you absolutely hate the data transfer speed of Yahoo movies, like me. The trailer is glorious. I haven't been as hyped for a movie since freaking Sin City.

New Mass Effect Footage
How is Mass Effect not a hack'n'slash? To me, it seems that the planets are shaping up to be self-contained little dungeons full of third person shooty combat.

Valve's Portal demonstration
Hehheh, might as well resurrect this thread, since the official site(?) of the game has been out for a while. http://www.aperturescience.com/ On that note, can anyone get in? So far, the only thing that has given me a result is pushing "?".

Goddamn, AVP 2's Predator campaign was one of the best fps scenarios ever. Superb narrative and brilliant design. From the very start you were encouraged to play the Predator way of honor, but you could go in blasting everything. Yet, the game was very rewarding for both styles.

STAR WARS: The best of PC
People are also still playing the original Jedi Knight online, which is almost a decade old game. Jedi Academy was released 2004, right? If so, then it's success is a testament to nothing.

What inspired your Username?
It's from a shorty story by, I think, Harlan Ellison. I can't remember the name of the story anymore, but it was magical realism and situated somewhere in England. The main character was a member of this gentlemen club, but used most of his time hunting phantasms, or fey. Musopticon, along with oneiroscope, was a machine, resembling an unholy union between a gramophone and an old-style telephone, to detect them. As for why I chose it; it was Victorian like hell. And I was really desparate for a name that was both obscure enough to be unique, yet still be (almost)non-fantasy. Otherwise I would have started with some other recurring nick(I've used this, or variations of it, like Mousepants, on a dozen fora), which probably might have contained an apostrophe. The name is not terribly clever, but at least it's not Kil'Jaeden. The question mark comes from the wtf-factor that's always present.

Movies You Have Seen Lately
Slevin is a great film, the twist came out of nowhere. Just awesome. And the efinal line of the movie is just pure gold. Willis probably does his best work since the 12 Monkeys.

Borknagar - Grains Another album about existence and unity of man and universe. This time mostly acoustic though and as far away from black metal as possible. Frankly, I can't see the Opeth influence, but early Ulver(Bergtatt and Kveldsj

I'm a bit lost on you two. Are you seriously suggesting that console games don't have depth?

Pictures of your games...
I remember frenzying in the quest where you had to protect the actor in Asp Hole. My ventrue just went batcrap on the vampire hunters. Big massacre. That quest has one of the best level designs and voiceover ever, by the way. The line the actor says, and how he says it, before walking to the darkness is just pure awesome.

Have an Idea of a videogame? Post it here!
Have you played The Longest Journey, Pop? There was a long puzzleless section just after the intro that basically had you engaging optional dialogue with your pals, getting to know them and familiarising yourself with the universe. I think any game could benefit from that kind of thing. Deus Ex had similar thing done in Unatco HQ.

The World's Biggest Straw Yule Goat
Magnesium torches are lovely. The amount of light is just insane. Light one in the middle of a frozen lake ice at some backwater where it's almost pitch black and the sudden light is like a sun that reflects from a billion ice crystals. It looks awesome.
