  1. Let's see the good stuff- *Increased use of skills, stats, and powers in the dialog options. (For future games, more! MORE! ) *The droids. T3-M4 had a personality this time around, the HKs were hillarious in their own morbid way, even G0T0 worked. *The party split-up sequences. Such as the times seeing the game from T3-M4's point of view, and the party split on Dxun. If anything in future games having more sequences were the party needs to be two places at once, or the main character is doing something while the others are somewhere else, would be nice. *The characters story-wise. Sion was creative with his creepy dialog, and Kreia was intriguing. *Interactive "flashbacks" where you get to work out the history of your character and the world. More would have been nice, seeing the Exile give the order at Malachor V, seeing the Exile's last discussion with Kavar before going to war. Overall, this is a nice plot mechanic that I hope is used heavilly in a future Obsidian game.
  2. What about B4D4? ...HK-47 could use a 'personal assistant' droid module too
  3. Nice work A Visas/Exile v.s. Nihilus fight would be very impressive.
  4. He means the roll up. Which I was pleasantly surprised with. I like the fact they used just the subtitle as opposed to: STARWARS *text flies into the distance* DARK FORCES XII: JEDI KNIGHT XI: KNIGHTS THE OLD REPUBLIC X: JEDI V.S. SITH IX: THE SITH LORDS VIII: SITH OUTCAST Okay, so it's a bit extreme but most of the game rollups have been almost that bad after a sequel or two...
  5. Well, I think that the Dantooine encounter when a lightsider would have had more impact if:
  6. Hrmm... I hoped that someone with authority here would reply with some contact info on who to ask to get permission to make this freeware game. I've heard horror stories about Lucasarts shutting down such projects, so being on the safe side and getting permission was the first thing that came to mind. Anyway, the idea is that with the game everyone gets a starter deck, and you win new cards when you win a game. You'd get different 'tiers' of cards when you earn more points. Bets would be based on the points you have.
  7. K1 had some awesome tracks, but some of it was generic D&D music. Indistinguishable from the likes of Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights. K2 does have a few clinker tracks too, but it also has quite a few fun ones.
  8. A deliberate decision just like having a blantantly obvious 50s diner?
  9. The main problem is that the low resolution of the music kills most of the subtle differences. Experiment with the KOTOR1 music being at the same sample rates, mono, etc. as the KOTOR2 music and you'll experience the same thing. Many of the tracks will then fall flat. Anyway, the composer's site has some higher resolution versions of the tracks and they sound quite nice.
  10. HK-54s with organic components for force sensitivity Yes this falls under the lamest idea ever category. Though such an idea, sentient droids attempting to create force-users, could be used as a reason why a droid planet would be involved in a war of belief against the true Sith.
  11. Yowch, that stinks. Well that's the problem with dealing with other people's liscenses... *sigh* Honestly though, some of the things that made it into KOTOR2 (such as the darker overtones of the story to small things like how sophisticated the various droid characters were in their self-motivations) I'm surprised were accepted.
  12. I stuck to the long dark haired guy, since the jesus face rolling his eyes and smiling when going up someone's loading ramp led to a rather... distrubing image.
  13. Since the KOTOR liscense, and items along with it such as Pazaak, are owned by Lucasarts who would be the person to contact to ask for permission to do a freeware Pazaak game? A java web applet, with the option of being against an AI or hotseat.
  14. Oddly enough, we've given the names of both the Handmaiden and Disciple. However, Atton Rand doesn't seem to be Atton's real name... Maybe a mystery for KOTOR3?
  15. Bah, everyone's just doing three! 1. Kreia- Perfect voiceover for the part. 2. Darth Sion- A great mix of sound effects with voiceover. 3. Bao-Dur- Very calm and collected, a contrast to what he thinks of himself though. 4. The HKs- I personally liked how he sounded in KOTOR1 a little better as it sounds like the actor is adding a little more British butler accent (ala C-3PO). However, the guy can pull off the dark comic relief and the dialog is great too. 5. Atton- "I'm as Atton as Atton'll ever be!" The guy could pull off the part perfectly. I was surprised that he could pull off the rather creepy dialog about Atton's past... 6. Visas- The character really sounds like someone who has given up all hope but now sees some. 7. Vrook- Once again, the Jedi Master we all love to hate. 8. Handmaiden- While the actress did a commendable job, I'm not a huge fan of the character. 9. Mira- Nice, she pulled off the lines great. Giving a sort of hyperactive, bored, smartassness to the character. Oh great, I've listed all of the main characters Needless to say, the voiceovers for the main characters were one of the strong points of the game.
  16. I do think there is a place for these graphics enhancements to be in isometric RPGs. As in, take Temple of Elemental Evil and make it on the same scale as Planescape: Torment and the 3d characters have the body language seen in games like Bloodlines. So you have detailed, painted worlds, with detailed 3d objects in them that you can interact with, including physics wise. The terrain could be given collision data and so tables, chairs, boxes, etc. can all be knocked over and interact properly.
  17. G0T0: I do hope that the next thing you decide must be destroyed to stop the Sith is not the entire galaxy. Exile: Well actually...
  18. The Klingons killed them... or were those the tribbles they killed? Ermm... actually they turned into the Cannouks(sp?).
  19. Same here. Glad I'm not the only one. The KOTOR1 cases were great for getting the CDs in and out of, I wonder why they changed the design. I also wonder why the music was made low-resolution despite the effort put into orchestrating it. I wonder why Lucasarts didn't give Obsidian the time to finish the ending. I bet Revan is to blame...
  20. One thing I noticed about KOTOR2 is that a lot of thought went into Peragus. However, even basic psychology shows that people remember the beginning and end of something more than the rest. Which is why my big suggestion is that the introduction and end sequences should be worked on at the same time with the same care. That way you also have a strong point A to B and can tweak the plot/events in the middle as necessary to reach it. Of course the trick would be getting these segments to an acceptable level of depth and detail, and then 'locking them down.' Also, by working in the various endings and events to effect the endings first, it helps outline what exactly needs to be handled in the other areas. Then things can be prioritized, everything that does not directly effect the ending events or is required to reach it is then a lower priority for the game then the other things. But hey, you're the guys who get paid for this stuff, not me.
  21. I'd like a mixture. The influence system is great for finding out character's 'dirty secrets' but having some generic dialog with them when you level up (Bioware, KOTOR1 style) that then ties into sidequests you play for influence would also be nice. So I think the two systems are both halves of what could be an even better system for NPCs.
  22. Actually most of the parts of the game where you played other characters I thought were fun. I wish that the level-up setup would allow you to apply all skills/feats/attributes for your gained levels at once so you didn't have to go through multiple level up screens. The remote part, as with most of the game past the Council on Dantooine, wasn't very fun and felt like part of something larger. However, Freedon Nadd's tomb, T3-M4 acquiring the codes, etc. were all nice. Especially the changes that happen at the tomb depending on who you bring along. For example I had Bao-Dur, Mira, and Visas and their comments/solutions to some problems were different then bringing Hanharr, Atton, and Disciple. If anything I'd expand more on this idea. Having the party be able to split when doing planets and going between related events on each world.
  23. *Listens to the music from the composer's site* *Cries* :'( Well I'm glad I didn't release my upsampled versions of those two tracks. While my Sion one actually sounds pretty decent compared to the originals my 'The Sith Lords'/Exile theme didn't sound too great. (the trumpets at the end are very hard to upsample)
  24. Well I'll probably be sued by Lucasarts for doing this, but I've done up an upsampled version of the Sion theme. 128kb, stereo .mp3. The high range has been enhanced, the bass has been enhanced, and some subtle reverb effects are added in to make the instruments sound more natural. Not perfect, since there's only so much you can do to hide the audio artifacts. PM me if you want a copy of it, since I'd rather not risk the wrath of Lucasarts Edit- I tried doing the same with the Exile theme, but converting the file to an .mp3 makes the end part of the track sound harsh. Better than before, but the .wav version I did is up there in the 20 meg sized range though it sounds better. Edit#2- Actually I'm taking back the offer on sending them to other folks, since I'm not pleased with the lack of dynamic range even after all of the tweaking. They sound shallow compared to the KOTOR1 tracks still, mainly because no matter how hard you try you can't really upsample something. *grumbles* I want higher res versions of the recordings! Release the soundtrack... now!
  25. It'd have to go to Nihilus. The only reason he was defeated is since the Exile is a case of fighting fire with fire. Nihilus isn't really a Sith Lord in the traditional sense though, he's more of an elemental force. In the regular bad guy realm though, I'd have to hand it to Palpy.
