  1. Sadly true. Whatever happen to epic games like Baldur's Gate and Morrowind? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oblivion is huge.
  2. Bush is one of the most idealistic presidents we've had. Seriously, he was in good shape to retire comfortably before he took office. Cheney, of course, is stinking filthy rich. I always hated it when Republicans demonized Clinton. I thought it was petty and small minded. It's good to see that Republicans aren't the only ones for whom a large vocabulary substitutes for insight. At any rate, I believe he'll do what most presidents do. He'll lecture in and out of the country. He'll continue to champion his own vision of education. Hopefully, with little effect, since his vision on education is warped. He'll probably be a bit more muted than Clinton and considerably more muted than Carter. EDIT: Stuck Gore in there for Clinton. An insult to Clinton, to be sure.
  3. The death penalty for second degree murder? How about manslaughter? How about accidentaly killing someone? I agree that society has every right to enact the death penalty. I, personally disagree with it, but that's not the point. The real point is where you draw the line once you decide to implement the death penalty. If you start enforcing the death penalty for second degree murder, you're starting down a dark road. I am glad Al-Zarqawi is gone. The method that removed his presence is death, so I guess I should get off the fence and just state I'm glad he's dead. Would I have been in favor of executing him? I would be in favor of leaving that decision to the Iraqi government. Failing that, I would favor sending him to Cuba where we currently hold other terrorists we've apprehended. My granddad fought in World War Two. He hated the Japanese. With a passion, he hated the Japanese. He was glad that we dropped the atom bomb on them. He was glad that we dropped two. He would have liked to drop three. I loved my granddad. He was a clever old man with a mischeivous twinkle in his eye. He was a witty, mirthful, and friendly man. He hated the Japanese as if they weren't human. This is a clear example of how folks like Zarqawi continue to hurt us even after they die. The question, "Should we be happy he's dead?" Turned into the question, "Should we be sad we couldn't do worse to him?" That in turn brought on the question of how we should handle the common criminal. Al-Zarqawi was undoubtedly a criminal of an uncommon nature, but now we consider what to do with every person who harms another. If we exact our pound of flesh for someone who commits a murder in the heat of passion, what do we with the drunkard who kills a child on a bike through sheer negligence. If we kill him too, what do we with parents who lose children through lack, or oversight? I'm not a bleeding heart liberal, but we can't kill ourselves out of every problem. Al-Zarqawi was a bad man and I'm glad he's gone. In my own dark thoughts I've desired revenge, and I can understand others desiring it still. Kill Zarqawi. Kill the others who take his place. ...But the ends don't always justify the means. Sometimes the means become the end, and then we're all terrorists.
  4. hahahaha Comedy!
  5. This was funny. Us Christians would buy it in droves. It's the graphics card that leads to salvation!
  6. hahahahaha
  7. That's a huge selling point!
  8. Well, I guess I do sometimes. Still, I don't change my writing styles and I hear that's imperative for someone trying to create my alt. Plus, any alt I make will be nicer than me, not meaner, and I don't see how you can get nicer than Cant. So, the upshot is, how reliable is Direct 2 Drive?
  9. I don't answer my own damned questions.
  10. Poor alan. He can't get a break from anyone today. hahaha
  11. http://www.direct2drive.com/376/product/Th...ivion-w/-Manual There you go. I was thinking of using this one myself. Anyone have experience with Direct2Drive?
  12. Too many thats. Anyhow, maybe I was just seeking clarification and understood you'd give it to me. At any rate, have a beer on me. :Eldar's giving Commissar a beer and patting him on the back icon:
  13. I've been there, done that, have the debt to prove it. I was involved in a series of unsuccessful battles against Black Scorpion. It's easy to take down the turrets and control the area, but the AVs are just way too tough. Not only that, but I think it's stupid how they've decided to mkae it seem inevitable that the bad guys will win. If that's where they're going with the story, I'll probably cancel my subscription. I mean, the heroes rule Recluse's Victory. The villains haven't even come out to play when I've been there. ...But Recluse is edging closer to victory. That's just stupid.
  14. Ouch, our Commie friend is picking a fight on his first day back from hiatus. The point isn't that we shouldn't be glad we got 'im before he got us. The point is that we should not revel in killing him. I'm sure you can see some of the wild ideas floated around in this thread. It's okay to be glad he's out of the picture, but we should then fixate on the means and methods of torturing him to death? We should lament the fact that we didn't get the chance to disembowel him and feed his entrails to dogs while he died? That, Commissar, is unhealthy. I'm not sorry that he's gone. Hell, I think it's a worthy cause to celebrate that he's gone. I don't believe, and probably never will, that we should jump up and down because we killed someone. That might be brought on because of sheer relief, but indulging in some sort of perverse speculation on the types of torture you'd inflict does dehumanize you, whether you believe it or not.
  15. You haven't played it, then? I mean, I'm itching to buy it, but I can probably restrain myself by playing other games. I'm also considering HoMM 5, but I'm worried about what they've done to one of my favorite series.
  16. Report back to us about it, Darque. BTW: Has anyone actually played Call of Cthulu. I'm tempted. The setting might be enough to sell me, but I don't want to buy it if it's a complete dog.
  17. Here is a bit of DOOM for you. It's a bit harder than FEAR, I think, but I find the flashlight thing frustrating. I'm toughing it out without the flashlight mod, but I just get a bit irritated by some areas.
  18. OMG A Commissar Sighting. Well, I will celebrate that, at least.
  19. Wow, they really are trying to displace the computer. ...Or, at the very least, break into the PC market..
  20. Epiphany might be a developer. If I'm right about 10k, then he is most definitely a developer. I can't recall who picked him up after Interplay, but he's still working in the industry. ...Or at least that's what I recall. If Epiphany is a developer, he must be someone who works on Xbox/PC only titles. Either that, or he really hates developing PS games. hahahaha
  21. Yikes, that has to itch when it grows back again.
  22. While Fox news is a favorite around here for attack, they're not any better or worse than other entertainment outlets like CNN or MSNBC. If fact, I do think that angry ex-employees might not be the best sources for discussing a place of business fairly. In much the same way, I think it's probably not a good idea to take one source for granted while scoffing at another. Hey, if your internet advocacy site gives you the ammunition you so desperately need to attack Fox, go ahead. Now, I really do think that PBS does a better job overall of presenting the news. I don't think they're flawless, but they are better. The real problem, however, lies in news analysis. In the major news networks, news analysis has taken on an increasing role. Simply put, it's a lot more entertaining and it's also something that doesn't require real news. In other words, if there's a slow news day, you can plug in an analyst and still call it the "news." I think that's a mistake. ...But don't kid yourselves, Fox haters, the liberals and conservatives alike do it. Oh, by the way, I've seen similar attacks on all sorts of news organizations, but the resources aimed at attacking Fox really boggle the mind. I mean, we're past advocacy and smack dab in the middle of vendetta.
  23. I think you're a big, hairy Norseman. Does that help?
  24. Here is a screenshot of Eldara fighting from under the floor. Issue 7 in CoH seems to have created some weird glitches. Anyhow, I'm going to play a little DOOM3 so I can post a picture of that.
  25. My biggest problem with Epiphany's original post wasn't that it wasn't nesworthy. I'm sure there's something there that will have an impact on the PS3. The question was, how much? Even if it were a huge deal, then he still didn't need to charge in spoiling for a fight. That's my biggest thing. On the other hand, he's always been a single issue sort of fellow. With most folks here, I might disagree with them on one issue but still have a great discussion on another. Epiphany must be someone's alt or he's just a rare and remarkably single minded fellow.
