Pastorale from The Messiah -- Handel I love this work. In fact, I love to sing it. I don't have as much knowledge of music as a lot of folks here, but I like what I like. BTW: Anyone have some ideas on more Spanish Guitar? Laozi? You helped me out last time.

I might take you up on that, my toothy friend. I hope my sound-card can handle it this time. I got everything to work on the game otherwise, but the sound caused a crash every time. I suspect I really will enjoy SS2, but I won't enjoy it, nor will I be scared by it, if there is no sound. I can't play a game without sound. I've a headset just so, if I happen to be up late, I can play games without the wife getting irate. If I can make the game stable and get the sound to work, I'll play it and report back to you guys.

Oh great, you guys jump ship! Well, just for that, I'll dig back to Nancy and Frank Sinatra. "Somethin' Stupid" It's the hopeless romantic in me.

So, as an aside, to what tune is the chic in your sig dancing? It's mesmerizing. Black Gold -- Soul Asylum

That'd make a good sig for someone. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Other than you?

(Note that I've only listened to maybe three of their songs and have yet to make an actual statement concerning their quality. But this is **** is too hilarious.) Bite me, Baley Boy! Anyhow, I like Soul Asylum, but I think I'll go off on a tangent and cite Collective Soul "The World that I know"

That makes sense, Bok. Keep us posted on your sucking, blowing xbox 360. Let us know how it gets the job done.

I think Gromnir is going to be impossible now. He's going to bring up ferret's departure. You know it. Hey, I just hope NWN2 still hits the shelves on schedule.

I'll try it on the new system when my replacement video card gets here. I'd really like to try it. That way, I can come here and tell you all you were right and that it is the scariest fps I've ever played. :Eldar's good natured grin icon:

You know, I tried System Shock 2 but it didn't work on my computer. However, I get the feeling that the hype machine gets a great jump-start from the hold-over fans. So, let me put it this way, DOOM 3 has great moments of suspense. Of course, I need not say something inane like "in my opinion." Clearly, you should understand that it is my opinion. Moreover, I know a lot of folks who think that FEAR has some truly scary moments. I don't tell them to go play some different game because they must not understand "scary." I know you didn't mean offense, but I get tired of folks telling me that I should play System Shock 2 if I want to play a game that's "really" scary. First of all, I can't play it. Since I have no basis for comparison, there's no point in comparing it. Second of all, System Shock 2 might not be scary in the least for me. I'll never know and I'm not going to reassess my opinion of a game I've played based on the assertions of the die-hard fans of a game I cannot play. Now, I promise you, if I ever manage to get a playable copy of System Shock 2, I'll come back here and tell everyone what I thought of it. In fact, I would really like to get that chance since I've heard so much about it. On the other hand, folks tell me that the original DOOM wasn't all that good and I just smile and nod my head. Whatever. Finally, out of the four games I cited, DOOM 3 really was the scariest. I happen to know for a fact that not everyone shares my opinion in this regard. Nevertheless, it provided the most suspense of the four. For me. At least. In my opinion. As for No One Lives Forever, is that the James Bond game? I'd like to try it, but I just get bogged down. Lately, if we're broadening our discussion to oldies, I've been playing some Metal of Honor on the wife's system. I finished allied assualt and spearhead and I'm just past the sabotage at the air-field for Breakthrough. it's a great game. I like the old World War 2 FPSs. I bought Call of Duty 2, which was quite enjoyable. Unfortunately, I lent it to a friend and I have yet to get it back. I gave him the basic game right at the begining of the Bavarian rescue mission, but I kept the expansion until I got to the English daylight bombing scenario. What I like about Call of Duty is that it forces you to rely on your fellow soldiers. It's more realistic in how the team works without being truly unforgiving like Rainbow Six or some such.

I just thought I'd be the person to jump in the thread and say he liked HL2. When push comes to shove, I think Painkiller was better than DOOM 3, FEAR, and HL2, but I liked them all. The story for all of them were good enough to keep me interested. Out of the four, PK had the best level design. HL2 was by far the most beautiful in terms of just breathtaking scenery. FEAR has the best battles, followed by HL2. DOOM 3 is the scariest. DOOM 3 is the only one of the bunch that gives me the willies while I'm playing. Of course, they achieved that in large part with the cheap flashlight ploy, but it worked. When I get my new video card, assuming I don't suffer from my previous problems, I'm going to play all four again. When I do, the only mod I'll install is the flashlight mod for DOOM3. I suspect it will kill some of suspense in a lot of areas, but I find that switch between weapon and flashlight quite irritating.

As long as they get the job done...

I'm with you in spirit, but I tend to hang out on this forum. I just don't want to say I'll head over to Ender's forum when I'll probably post a few weeks and end up back here. If Ender wants to return to the Obsidian fold, then I think he should come back, set up shop, and enjoy the fun. I'm not trying to be unkind. I've always rather liked Ender. Even so, I'd be lying if I promised to anything more than join. On the other hand, I'll do a few reports on the new forum if he builds it. That way, I'll have reports on two different boards.

No, he didn't. I think you should do a review for him, Moth.

What the hell is your problem, Baley? Get the hell back in your cage! What is it you people say all the time? ...Soul Asylum > Baley? Something like that. Miss Sarajevo -- U2
-
Yeah, but Cassidy has a heart problem. I truly loathe Myron. I've never gotten him killed, though. Jaheira, of BG fame, used to irritate me so much I'd take away all her weapons, strip her naked, and have her make suicidal runs on the enemy.

ahhh Soul Asylum -- Runaway Train
-
Don't be such a jaded Child. They'll milk it until it's a corpse, suck the soul out of the dried corpse, then the franchise will enjoy a rebirth, and they'll milk it anew.

I think they should make the healing and mana potions work from hotkeys. Assuming they have health and mana potions. Playing the game completely one handed will mean my gamin' arm is hugely overpowered.

WII for the Wiin?

I went through with a wizard in the company of those idiotic henchmen. I went through the second time with a Sorceror who never fought a single enemy in the company of henchmen. God, I hated the henchmen. I think the easiest build is probably a cleric. Good hit points, good armor, good weapons, generally good spells with some awsome spells thown in for good measure.

The damned video never loaded for me. Still, I don't mind a hack-fest. Diablo and Dungeon Siege are great games.
-
Crap, that sucks. Hopefully you can do what I did with my video card and return it for a replacement. I still don't have a new console. I can't justify the expense for something that'll end up playing DVDs most of the time. ...And I'm not going to buy a PS3 because of a blue-ray. I guess I might just sit out this generation of consoles.

Good luck. I could only find two characters worth taking through the academy.

Alas, my gaming rig is gone again. I have three computers in this house and I don't have a game on any of them I feel compelled to play right now. I guess I can get back to work and play TOMBS when I feel like a break.
