I agree that we should do our best to ensure we don't end up in an all or nothing conflict. Churchill's speech was inspiring, but only slightly more inspiring than the times were terrifying. We don't want to bet there will be a Churchill handy to inspire us. Things are less clear now than they were then, and on that we can agree.

You're already figments of my imagination.

Live through the pain, my sluggish friend.

I've generally agreed with your assessments in this thread, Azarkon. As is so often the case, it's the fine point that comes between us. Total victory was the necessary end of the conflict because lack of concern is what allowed it to become total war. I don't disagree that it is a terrible thing, but nature can be terrible as well. Like astro, I see the pictures of the carnage and cannot help but think of myself. I see the women and think of my wife and sister. I see my mother. That doesn't change the fact that it was necessary to demand, and secure, complete and total victory. In the end, we still had Stalin, and his brutal regime. So total victory resulted in an incomplete peace. However, negotiating for victory would have brought an even more fragile peace and perhaps no peace at all. Once total war reared its massive ugly head, there was no choice but total victory.

I don't see the influence system as faulty in and of itself. I think there were plenty of times when I was disappointed with the influence system in NWN2. Like some of the other inmates, however, I'm inclined to think that the influence system serves to provide consequences to our choices, which is what I personally want in a role-playing game.

Details or it didn't happen. That will have to wait. I have a lot to say about the game. I'm just going to make sure it's appropriate to say.

Andrea? Hmm. No. She could probably take me also. "Nothing is immutable" In terms of power? In terms of roleplaying? In terms of vital usefulness in certain situations? In terms of outright evil comedy dialogue? In terms of sexy angelic voice over work? I have to say that I went with roleplaying, power, and usefulness every time when I had the choice. This board is my solitaire and I played it rarely while working. I actually tried to work while at work, but sometimes I came here instead. :Cant's sheepish smile icon:

Awesome. Plus, hot babes with guns? How could we complain? It does hearken back to the days of tape drives and cartidges. Makes me wish I had my old temple of Apshai game and a computer on which to run it.

What I for one expect from future games.

Those ideas aren't mutually excusive. It takes real cooperation to fight a war. After all, not only do different governments cooperate against a common enemy, but different divisions within each government must cooperate as well. -
Yeah, but it's likely the site is more fun than the game will be. :Cant's ****-eating grin icon:

Hey, what happened to the bikes? -
My impression, from what I've read, is that you're entirely right. MotB seems like NWN2's older smarter brother. I guess we'll see.

Huh? I couldn't tell the difference. :Cant's ribbing Walsh icon: Anyhow, I'm half nude right now and I can attest to my excessive girth. Try to make a gay comment about that!

Dont you love it when you are eating with someone who was "dieting" and they order a healthy salad and drown in in real dressing? Or pizza with a diet soda? Too funny. I can totally relate to the diet soda! The Aspartame in Diet sodas are horrible for peoples health too, stay away. How about these new ENERGY drinks like MONSTER ENERGY DRINK... Insane stuff, a person use to get those drinks in the morning and you could tell when they crashed every day around 11am. Poor guy looked depressed. not to mention the cup of sugar and concentrated Caffeine. Stay away. Guilty as charged, my beefcake friend. I drink these energy drinks at work. They don't even taste good. I don't know why I drink them.

That's pathetic. Yes, I'm overweight, although I doubt if I count as obese. However, when I ran or worked out every day, I still couldn't wear anything less than a large. Even with very little body fat, you'd expect most guys to have muscles, damn it. I've felt pretty bad about getting out of shape, but I'm supposed to fit in a small? You've got to be joking. I think Americans are probably overweight. Sure. ...but if you're going to tell me that we're in bad shape because our small is the same as your medium, then I'm going to counter that you need to stop being 90 pound weaklings. Now get out of the thread before Gromnir kicks sand in your face. hahaha

You know, I'm considering holding off on the year's end build. *gasp* I'm with you completely. I hate the idea of throw away money and there are so many cool things coming out so fast, I don't see why I can't wait. Whenever the current build can't handle things I can get the latest video... 9800 or whatever is out there. Yeah, this one seems really awesome, but over $600? On the other hand, my wife's computer is not as fast. It still runs WoW, but not at the highest settings. She doesn't really game much, though, and so that makes it even more difficult. Still, she wants to get into Photoshop and such. You know, 2 grand (hell, with the new stuff, more like 3 grand) is not a small amount of money for me. Yes, I can afford to buy this stuff, but I can also use that money for other things. If nothing else, we could put it in a CD and have it make money. So, when I see threads that tout the latest stuff, I have to weigh what we want or need against what else we might do with that money. Luckily, the wife and I truly do lead a simple lifestyle. Most of my big dollar purchases tend to be either on the house or computer/electronics stuff. I guess the thing is, we can afford it. ...But is it worth it just to have the latest toy?

Hey, Bok, since you're obviously sitting on a mound of cash, do you think you can spring for one of those 9800 GTXs for me? Seriously, just put down the specs for your next system here and I'll see how much it goes over my budget. It's just easier to let you do the legwork. hahaha
-
I dunno. I spent over $500 on my last card and it still handles the kinds of games I throw at it. I'm not sure I want to go over budget again and spend that kind of money on a card if I don't need it. on the other hand, I do like to have the latest shiny...

Alvin, I'll be more than happy to provide you cheats. For which game again? As for you, slug, I'll say I think this game will sell very well. Right now, I rate it highly, although I don't normally attribute numerical values to my gaming experiences. I think the game is excellent in concept and, when all the errors are fixed, will be excellent in execution. This game is all about story. The battles are fun and there's plenty of fat loot to go around, but it differentiates itself from the pack by its cohesive and well wrought story. Now, for something I think is quite funny about work. One of the folks on the programming side has a variety of interests, from swing dancing to soccer. He'll often walk from office to office, tracking down problems, while kicking a soccer ball between his feet. There's nothing like discussing a bug with someone who keeps bouncing a soccer ball off his chest. He's actually a fascinating person altogether. Hey, this post got lost at the end of the last page. Thanks for the read, my Daredevil friend. I wish I had a few patents sitting around the house! Woo Hoo. Okay, last QA lunch today. I won't be around for the next one, I'm afraid. That said, I thought I'd give word that I'm trying, diligently, to secure permission to take a few pictures of the company game night. It's every Wednesday. Wish me luck! Also, I have to check on more material to make sure the ministry of information will sign off on my posting it. haha They've been accomodating so far, even though they don't exactly know why I would want to post this info on some message board. Keep your fingers crossed. Finally, I told one of my fellow testers today that he's too young to be so jaded. He shot back, immediately, that I'm too old to be so naive. haha. Zing.

Don't weep. I just turned 38 on the 19th. Happy birth... day? Sorry I missed it, taks! :D
