Real Breaking News: Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer
Cantousent replied to Sand's topic in Computer and Console
The spirit energy system is integral to the story. I was not impressed when I first heard about it, but it added a lot of enjoyment for me. There is a lot you can do with it, if you're just willing to explore both the system and the story. Speaking of the story, it is much darker and more personal, as our Starwars friend says. I think I'll actually make myself sit down and write that review today. Once again, I can only cite things for which I've secured advanced permission or seen in interviews already available. This is a small community. I think it's good that one of our number got a chance to play the game, even if I don't begrudge the community on the Bioware boards. -
It's one of the reasons I decided against Abit, even though they have an otherwise solid product. Once I looked into it, evga looked like a good choice. One thing I'm wondering if having the same manufacturer for the video and motherboard is even a factor. All things being equal, should I?

I don't believe our immigration laws are either unjust or harsh. However, if we were sending these people back to certain death (such as by summary execution) then it would be a different matter. There are some laws that are unjust. We need only look to nazi Germany to find examples. In this respect, I agree whole heartedly with Sand. If the moral compulsion to break a law is so great that government does not enforce the law, then the law should not exist. This is also true of laws that are not practical to enforce. On the other hand, if the law is not unjust (note that this falls short of saying that the law is just) then we should support and enforce it.

If you come up with any particularly good finds, please let me know in my build thread. I'm figuring out my build right now.

Yeah, most of them think they're playing soccer, but at least one of them is playing football. *cough* *cough* Alvin.

Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition is on the way...

I'd heard that alignment is getting the chop in 4th. I remain hopeful but sceptical. -

One advantage to such a system is freedom. On the other hand, I'm happy with 3.5. I doubt if I get 4.0 right away, but I'll keep a look out for it. -
I'm not against IP on principle. I might buy the MMORPG if it looks good. MMORPGs take intelligence, care, effort, bankroll, and a lot of luck to survive. I don't think IP has what it takes to make it work. I'll eat crow if I'm wrong.

This is what I hate. I'm looking over prices and configurations and brand names and everything. Not being rich, I'm looking for a cross between value and preformance. Luckily, this intellectual auto-eroticism will keep me occupied for a couple months during which time maybe some of the prices will drop and I'll end up getting that quad for less. haha Where are some of the other regulars? Angshuman? Enoch? More opinions, please. Thanks to Bok and mkreku for the ideas. My latest cost test included evga for both the mobo and video.

Haha, Tigranes, you swine. The silliest thing Ender ever did was run off in a huff. Since I can't hunt you down and make you return, I hope you'll forgive the offense given to immigrants everywhere. Think of places in the cosmos where species yet untold sneak across the galaxy to live in spots with better suns. Just imagine, humans flying to alpha centauri with their matresses tied to the top of their spaceship. The locals complaining because we're taking jobs away from the home grown alpha centaurians but some defend us by saying, "We're an amorphous mass of ooze. We don't even have hands to do the jobs they do." I don't think we should turn a blind eye to illegal immigration. I'm against it, 100%. However, it's a wedge issue for both sides and the fact that we can turn a blind eye to it is established by the fact that we have turned a blind eye to it for many years. The government has talked a lot about illegal immigration for a long time, but none have taken real measures to stop it. In that respect, while I disagree with Hurl that the economy would somehow crash without illegals, it still might be cost prohibitive to end illegal immigration.

Okay, the wife has spoken, so I'm go for the new system. Apparently, she wants to give her old system to her folks, which means I get a new system and she gets my current one, which still rocks. Now, I was thinking either: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 Kentsfield 2.66GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor or Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 Conroe 3.0GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor for the CPU. I don't want to spend the extra cash for the quad unless it will really make a difference. It is, after all, more expensive by over 200 bucks. As far as MBs go, I was thinking: either mkreku's suggestiong: ABIT IP35 Pro LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard, which doesn't look bad or tried and true asus: Open Box: ASUS P5K3 DELUXE/WIFI-AP LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard. I just don't care for the wifi. I have a cabled lan and I don't intend to change that anytime soon, even after setting up several secure wireless lans over the last few years. I'm old fashioned that way. For Video: BFG Tech BFGR88768GTXOCE GeForce 8800GTX 768MB 384-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card or ASUS EN8800GTX/HTDP/768M GeForce 8800GTX 768MB 384-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card Of course, the video cards are pricey, but the big news for me is that one of my CPU choices is actually more expensive than either video card option. As always, nothing is set in stone until I purchase, which will likely be sometime between now and November. I want the system up and running before December. I appreciate any particular insight you folks might have. Anything from finding real alternatives that cost less money to switches in brand names for performance or reliability. I stopped by Fry's today and looked at the prices. They seem comparable to New Egg, but I also find that they don't always have the exact same products. Once I get the big three set, I'll look into the other components, such as memory, PSU, heatsinks, etc.

So, any of the current devs at Obsidian feel like jumping ship and returning to the Interplay fold?
-
I don't think I've ever played counterstrike, but I like FPSes. I'm willing to join other forumites to smite the evil Obsidz employees.

There are legitimate reasons to argue against illegal immigration, even for people with a relatively recent immigrant background. For example, my grandmother was a Mexican citizen and remained so for several years after she married my grandfather and lived her in the US. To suggest racism is, as Enoch has stated, a red herring. It is offensive and undermines more legitimate arguments. I am dead set against illegal immigration, although I have a hard time begrudging folks for wanting a better life than they have in their home country.
-
Do you have an immigration problem in Sweden?
-
I think, with the price drops, I might forgo to the new rig and get a 360. That's a tough call, because the PS3 seems technically superior. I dunno. I've been waiting until there was more clarity in regards to the blue-ray/hddvd issue. It occurs to me that the issue regarding next gen DVD might be moot at any rate. I'm definitely picking up Bioshock one way or the other, though.

I'm currently jealous, doing laundry and eating cold taquitoes. Rat bastard.

Real Breaking News: Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer
Cantousent replied to Sand's topic in Computer and Console
Oh, I didn't take offense. I'm just saying that the NWN franchise hasn't set records in the story department. However, I will say that I'm confident that Sand will enjoy the story for MotB quite a bit. I'm going to do a write up of my impressions some time next week. I'm only going to use information already available in printed/online interviews. Unless I get something from my elusive fifth person, I'm going to post my chat with George Ziets first. -

The story for MotB far outshines the story for NWN2, with all respect the creative design team for NWN2. -
Fionavar wins the 30 TOMBS points. And yes, my friend, this thread has probably outlived any point. :Cant's in before lock icon:

You've started to spam my thread, damn it! Oh well, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. +5 TOMBS points for everyone. +25 for Gorth for calling the title first. +25 for Pop for calling the company first. +25 for Alvin just because he's stuck having to work with me for the next few days or so. +30 point for anyone strong and mean enough to take them.

We only assume it's a hag. It could be any one of those people. I mean, how long has it been since we've seen a photo of Sawyer et al? How do they REALLY look? Seriously (srsly... whatever), I liked the Obsidian t-shirts and I managed to get one. Actually, by some kind of a mistake, but I've got three all told. Of course, it helps that I'm working on an Obsidz game in my first, last, and only exploration into game development. haha

This looks quite promising.

Next time, we'll inform his royal highness. :Cant's poking fun at mkreku icon:
