  1. Is there nobody in charge or something? Geez, the coders seem to be getting away with ALOT of slacking.
  2. Well we did mention that it upscales....
  3. Bok, the graphics whore that he is.... Happy birthday! I got you some pure unadulterated HDR Orbs!
  4. That makes him teh awesome silly. He was pointing out your bad grammar, actually. You followed "both" with just one quality. Meh, honest mistake.
  5. That makes him teh awesome silly.
  6. Why do you think I always say if you can build your own engine, then you should build your own. I don't see how collision meshes could really be a problem? But then again... Like most things in programming their are several ways to approch it, and the approch is obviously important. Shadows don't come anymore basic than planar shadows that use the stencil buffer, pointless excerise with modern day hardware if you ask me, but both Shadow Volumes and Shadow Mapping present their own challenges, the problem with volumes is that the mesh needs to be rather specific, where maps need to be projected correctly, they're difficult to alias, and use a fair bit of the old memory. That's an interesting bug, 40,000 polygons is a rather small amount... Working hours???!!! Programmers! Are you serious! Most coders are glowy white goblins for a reason LOL If it's anything like the cold I picked up in Estonia, I pity you all... That was a harsh cold, and if I know something, coding on a cold is BAD news.
  7. Considering it's clearly early days, it doesn't look too bad... Still seems that you've got months to go yet before an Alpha.
  8. I was never bothered by the flashlight in Doom 3... Though I reckon I am one of few.
  9. Sand learn to read.
  10. Feargus is great. Far as I can see he's prooved himself time and time again to have both good business sense.
  11. No complaints about Vista as an OS, though you do have a perf hit for games, but otherwise I've found it to be a lovely environment...
  12. Pretty much the entirity of FF7 is bad game design, there are some nice elements such as the whole materia(I think that's what it's call can't remember) system. The camera in any tomb raider game. It's such a crappy camera!!! Gears of war and it's wall hugging system, if I can notice the amount of time between my interaction with a controller and the response on screen then it's badly implemented, or potentially badly designed... It depends, that "Lag" may be a design desicion. Baldurs Gate 2 : SoA, the first dungeon too long, too dull, and a sticking point for me personally, it just didn't flow nicely, infact I can't even be bother to play BG2 based purely on the fact I hate that dungeon... Also the fact that BG2 is pretty linear, everything just gets crammed into chapter 2, and the rest is very much A - B. Half Life 2, the gravity gun being the main weapon at the end of the game. I really got sick of the Gravity Gun after 10 minutes, the fact a large majority of the gameplay is based around it just irked me. Kotor 1, too much time spent on Taris(did I get that right?), meaning it's a while before you can even get into the whole jedi deal. Kotor 2 addressed this issue. Making worms 3D, bad move period. I could go on...
  13. *Marine 2 throws over a pack of cheetos* Marine 2: "There you go, now stop whining" *Goes back to sleep*
  14. The 360 can render a scene at any resolution, it always then upscaled... so if I render a 640x480 and stick it on 1280x1024 monitor, it will strentch, same as if I render at 1280x1024 and stick it on a bog standard TV it will downscale... Atleast that is my understanding of it.
  15. I force artists to give me everything in XSI format, they can build it in max, play with it, mold it, do whatever they wanna do with it, but when I get it I want it in dotXSI, else I will get out the axe
  16. I blame Max, I always blame Max, because it's always Max's fault! somebody probably forgot to reset and xform at some point.
  17. Yeah kaftan, what methods have you attempted thus far?
  18. You missed the point, I was saying if take away the subjective worldview of the individual you indeed find the all statements are invalid, so hence a worldview and morality is required at a subjective level else there is nothing at all... We're talking on similar lines. A fixed truth is not the same as good and evil, which is merely a construct which we give mean, and doesn't particularly exist without us, because that itself requires faith, where there is no need to have faith in some which is fixed.
  19. But those acts are still not inherently evil, nor would they be if everyone on earth thought they were. I think you're becoming excessively philosophical. By which I mean debating beyond any useful purpose, even for the mental exercise. I say this because you are basically arguing that all thought and perception is arbitrary. While that argument is tenable it's as much consequence as a crepe paper space helmet. What does it mean? Nothing? Because in itself and by its own rationale the statement is also worthless. In which case all statements are infact worthless... Because it requires an authoritive persona to say what is right and what is wrong, hence something like religion. We could all probably agree on many things which are good and evil, the problem really is that our agreement doesn't make it universal. What I am trying to say here is that there is no blatent truth, only a perception of a personal or collective truth, so in brief there is no truth but what truth is given to a statement is on the part of the reciever. So your arguement is flawed because you dismiss it as worthless and void of rationale, which is false, it is merely a statement of rational FACT. Without any moral faith, there is infact nothing. So one must play the subjectivity card, and all morality has to be down to the individual. There cannot be definitive proof, because the only authority is that of ourselves. Thus the choices we make about our subjective morality are universal and 100% true for the individual, and perhaps the collective, but never more... Even if every human that ever lived and will live had the exact same morality it wouldn't make it an omnipotent moral truth. Nothing is inheriantly anything, it's merely the meaning we give it. Wooo I'm a level 9 babykiller.
  20. Just because we can debate something doesn't mean there isn't a correct stance on it. I mean, we could theoretically debate the color of my X-Box for hours. That doesn't mean it isn't black. I've been trying since this thread started to say just that. Well put. Except the XBOX isn't actually black in a literal sense, it's more an extremely dark grey.
  21. I was more saying I won't love by societies standards, but my own... It was also supposed to be funny.
  22. hehe... Good init, it should settle down though, after the prologue it becomes a mite bit more about exploration... P.S. I loved the general design elves in the witcher...
  23. YAY! I'm an evil baby eating monster...
  24. I assume you've tried surrounding the mesh with a dummy... ?
