@\NightandtheShape/@ it's Gromnir, not grobnar. If you're going to call someone a tard for not getting your username right, at least get theirs right as well. That way, *you* won't make an ass of yourself. Too bad you did. Sarcasam, it's wasted on forums...

The PS3 has that kinda open source frigility to it, it just makes me shudder as a platform to develop for, I mean seriously I shudder! It just doesn't appear to be a nice environment... It almost feels like a console aimed at linux fanboi's, and computer science research, and for some reason they threw in a blu-ray player because "HD is all the rage". I could never get excited about the playstation in any of its forms... The only way I could convay how I feel about the PS3, or should I say how it makes me feel from all potential perspectives, it's kinda like going out getting so wasted your mind is blank and then realising you slept with an absolute heffer, and being faced with the simple choice of chewing through your own arm to escape or waking them up... I can't help it, but when I find out someone actually spent cash on a PS3 I laugh, and I continue to belittle them. The XBox-360, I don't particularly like the machine, but it doesn't make me feel particularly ill like the PS3 does, the 360 feels like an imposter, I wish I could say oh it's a PC in a box, but there are difference so unlike the original X-BOX it isn't a PC in a box. I can for example, bring myself to play on a 360, I may even enjoy it for a short while until I realise that controllers and my hands are actually mortal enemies. While the 360 isn't a PC in a box, it does kinda feel like a PC for dummies, PC's and 360's have alot of cross platform gaming support, so I tend to think of the 360 as something that folk who want a more PC like experience without all the strings attached. If anything it's a one night stand with an average looking girl that makes you feel a bit dirty, it's the best of the "Serious" 2 consoles on the market. This leaves me with the Wii, which is a happy little console that does everything it says on the tin, when you Wii you tend to not do it alone, it's kinda like a public urinal in that respect. The Wii has several strong things going for it in my opinion, gone are the gimpy controllers, instead you can if you so desire have a more physical experience, as a result anyone can pick up a wii mote and kinda know what to do. For me personally I like it from a retro perspective the sheer number of titles available on the virtual console has certainly made it worth while. I love games like r-type, gunstar heroes, contra and streets of rage so for me it feels like the consoles of old. Though I will admit that alot of the wii specific titles don't appeal to me. The Wii doesn't offend me probably because it doesn't try to do something more than what I expect from a console. The wii is a party animal. Why did I bother to write all that?

He's doing a job, just like ever other poor sod out in afganistan and iraq. Gromnir's reaction is typical of the Monarchy hating American whom see's such things as tyranny... So in UK we don't choose our head of state, fair enough, it's not like they have any real power, so we have a bloodline of people whom are in the position due to hereditary reasons, they are afterall born into the position, they spend an entire lifetime in whatever position they are, and also preparing for said position. That in and of itself could be argued as being somewhat cruel... The irony to me is that while we have no choice whom is the figure head of the state, Americans do have this privilage, and the president also has alot more power than our Monarchy, and to finish it all off you have chosen the son of a previous leader, I would argue based upon his name. So what's worse, to have a powerless Monarchy, which act as figure head and representatives of a nation, or to choose and give power to a particular politician! And sometimes to even do that on a hereditary basis?

I don't pirate games, I won't pirate games, and I look upon folk who do pirate games as the scum of the freaking earth! Since '94 I have bought every game that I own, every last game, it probably amounts to tens of thousands of -
CERTAINLY WITHOUT A DOUBT WORTH WATCHING, it's an awesome show. Also very very good I was extremel impresed with both series.

I believe they are the same thing, it just seems like a cheap way to imbed a little extra info into the mesh itself, what that data is used for is obviously down to the application, I wouldn't use it for much, perhaps as an aid to multi-texturing or to help indicate certain things in regards to blending magnitude etc... What exactly would you say is wrong with it? -

Nice... result. Have you thought about using Vertex Colouring at all? -
A remake or even a patch will do good

You honestly think its that simple? -
I wasn't in bed at the time, and mostly I was curious if anyone else was awake... It really wasn't major... Just not the sort of thing that happends that often.

You know, I'll be shocked if the difference in load speed is ever felt in any sort of dramatic fashion. TGA is widely used. DDS's only benefit is that it stores data in the same way as its stored in memory in DX, or if you want to use a 3D texture or Cube Map. -
4.7 nothing major, just a bit of a minor shock

We just had an Earthquake in the UK, bizzare thing it was, just wondering who felt it... I'm in South Yorkshire!

Well I wouldn't use DDS, I'd use TGA, its a good file format, infact I'd use PNG over DDS. I agree, a seperate COLOUR based specular map does look better... I'm certainly interested in WHY you haven't been given the option, its certainly not a dramatic feat of programming to implement, heck I implmented it in about 15 minutes, infact I implmented it in three seperate shaders over a very short time peroid, but we, as in my folks, have the benefit of their own engine. -

Oh come on that's HARDLY a challenge, I oh dubious programmer that I am can do that! I look forwards to seeing more... Good luck! -
Fact: Developers have draws, cupboards, filing cabinets, stock rooms, hard disks and underwear full of games ideas, and as the market usually dictates the project, and sales == we stay in business, something radical is certainly rare. What you want is extremely unlikely to ever happend, EVEN if you were able proove your concepts.

effing close to water. buttwiper is actually brewed like a pilsner which is supposed to have a light body. pilsner urquell is the original which i can't stand, nor can i drink bud anymore. taks Never been able to drink Budweiser, makes me seriously gasey, Budvar on the other hand is always quality...

Mask of The Betrayer, hard to find as much time as I desire, I find it's hard to turn off once I get started, but its fairly neatly packaged so playing in chunks of 3 to 4 hours almost feels episodic, so I would commend the games pacing. When I finally get through with it I should have finished my degree, if that is the case I will finally have time to play through the entirety of PS:T, if I finish MOTB before I'm done, then I'll probably go for something a little lighter, I finished HL2 recently, I'll probably continue episode 1.

*Points and Laughs* Talk about giving up easy, those tutorials BTW are actually quite good, but they assume you already know how to program... What you need to do is find some basic "Hello World" style C# tutorials. or maybe you should try using something like GameBuilder from Gararge Games...

Sorry, i'll expand that statement to say 'without just being watered down knat piss like they make in Australia and send over here'. If you guys have good beer, we don't see head nor tail of it over here, the main offenders being XXXX and Fosters (though i've heard from an australian friend that fosters isn't actually that popular in australia itself). XXXX and Fosters are brewed locally they're about as australian as the yorkshire moors!
-
I'd agree, but this stuff is actually pretty decent. Sort of gentle and aromatic My favourite, which I can't get locally is called Firestoker, by Marstons. Smooth light IPA (lagerboy friendly) with the faintest hint of cherry wood/mahogany smell. While Marstons brew some fairly good ales, I've never been all that fond personally... As for ales I do like, a pint of spitfire always goes down well, and I certainly have yet to have a bad ale from the Osset Brewery. Though my personal number one ale of all time is a skinner's brewer ale by the name Heligan Honey!
-
Well living in England, and having lived in Oregon, and having drank many ales which are on offer in both areas, it is fair to say that even the Oregon ale holds nothing at the side of English ale, I sampled as many American ales as I could, and in all honesty, Fat Tire was certainly one of the better ales on offer... But as far as brewing of beer goes, America has never really been anywhere near as good as Europe, and as far as ale goes, there is no better place than the British Isles. Heck even a tiny country like Estonia has more high quality beers than America.

Well, making good games is, anyway. Even making a bad game can be difficult, making a game awesome is naturally much harder...
