  1. It's already been done. It's called BC isn't it?
  2. Well in terms of games, i really can't think of a single title to come outta the US that I couldn't wait to get my hands on. Though this summer looks interesting, as the 3d engines for Doom 3 and Half Life 2 look interesting.... But in terms of RPG's it's pretty hopeless.
  3. I'm always saying this, but I really feel that the main strength for an RPG programmer should be AI, and you know what it seems makes sense.
  4. It's needs to be done. Last game I can think of that touched on this theme was on the ZX Speccy, skool daze I think it was.
  5. <_< Can't think of many good games developed in the US anymore actually.... Most games I've enjoied has come from europe of late.
  6. <_< I wonder if he even remembers.
  7. No mirrors in your house then?
  8. I know I enjoy it in a way that makes my class mates look at me bemused!
  9. Pretty much what I was trying to say in far fewer words. With the exception of the lead graphics programmer, people almost never know the names of programmers or even know what is programming versus art or design. It's hard to tell sometimes (which is a sign of good programming) So hows your programmer art?
  10. He's just the puppet for evil powers...
  11. The strange thing is that this little act is actually illegal. You're not allowed to download no-cd cracks! But personally I do it too. I can't even imagine how it would be to be a games reviewer if I didn't have those cracks. It's bad enough as it is right now, with all the cd's lying everywhere, but if I also had to find each and everyone everytime I needed to start up a game to take a screenshot or check out some fact, it would kill me. I recently started reviewing PS2-games too, and already the DVD's are stacking up around the console... Tell me about it.... Sometimes I use it as an incentive.... Oh I'll play X game because the CD is in.
  12. So tell me some ideas? heh
  13. I always thought Chris was a grim sounding fella with a certain thing for scantily clad harlots and violence. This here interview seems to be confirmation of such..... Look at how he hails his minions! Amazing, I can hear them nashing their teeth in the pits of fallout hell!
  14. Why is it I feel it'd be a pretty lame game you'd design.
  15. No clue but Castle Urquhart is in Scotland...
  16. Gameplay programmer.... Focusing on AI naturally.
  17. I have always tried to see what was so great about fallout. I've never been able to. The game itself feels so rigid to me, I feel too in control so to say. It feels as I would call it empty, and I did enjoy fallout all the same, it just felt pushed to me. It was basically that I couldn't do exactly as I pleased. One thing I see as lacking in RPG's is AI, personally I believe RPG's should be at the front for AI, they should be the leaders whom FPS take notes from.
  18. Really, you don't think there is a lot of Nietzsche in the Sith teachings? I know that the Nazis distorted a lot of his ideas....but isn't the 'Will to Power', the triumph of the new man over conventional morality, still a part of those beliefs? The Sith ideology, btw, is like taking Nazism to the point of absurdity. Instead of having a 'Master Race', the Sith ideology promotes each individual as his or her own 'Master Race' without acknowledging any real need for loyalty to the whole. Judging by what you learn at the Academy, a proper Sith should lie to his superiors, steal credit for things he didn't do, advance his own power to the detriment of the Sith as a whole, and generally and at all times undermine the group in favor of himself. Even the Nazis, wacky Social Darwinists that they were, weren't so enslaved to those ideas that they let them override common sense. Actualy you find that NAZI leaders in general hated each other and had all kinds of little things going off to try and gain more and more power, Hitler basically controlled the power and played them all against each other, using the competition of such power struggles to advance his own needs. I think the Sith are linked.
  19. uh.. you are making an adventure game. Well at least you are making a sequal to an adventure game, with a lot of crumby combat. Hopefully you guys will make it more like an CRPG. And before you call me a one trick pony, BG was an RTS game, with just a smaller scope. Spot on!
  20. Make something to demo to a developer. That's always a good place to start.
  21. The utilized it as a fixed axis. The engine was weak, no flying, no height advantage. But then again it only took them 5 years! They could have done so much..... What they did was certainly a good idea, but the way they pulled it off was to make it prehaps a little too bland. It doesn't really have all that much immersion, it's the poor mans MMORPG if anything.... Kinda sucks.
  22. being a designer would be really cool. i'm going to take some design-type classes if i can, just for the sheer fun of it (hopefully design+programming= a gaming machine). but i'm going to focus more on the programming aspect, probably more for job security (and wanting to program AI!) than anything else. If you want to seriously focus on AI, then take a computer science course with AI, I know when I was looking at Uni's you could take Computer Science and AI, also psychology is useful for AI. I have chosen to do a Computer Games Programming degree, of which I can also focus upon AI, aswell as doing a bit of programmer art, and a little design aswell. I'd love to be a designer but I'm a better programmer so I have chosen to concentrate upon that. Whatever you choose to do good luck to you!
  23. I was meaning more in general, i.e. Do they entertain the idea at all for any department?
