Thanks again Ensign and good question SummerAnner58, I'd like to know as well. I'm having trouble choosing the right balance of attributes for a Templar, as the requirements are quite needy across the board for multiple attributes. Game says that Resolve, Might and Intellect are primary. However I also recall from my PoE single priest build that Dexterity was very important. How would you build an affective Templar (Pally/Priest) without significant min-maxing and for general conversation checks (as balanced as they may be) now? (give or take depending on race - Im going with human, prob from Aedyr) MIGHT: 16? CON: DEX: PER: INT: 14? RES: 17?

This is ideal actually, as story-wise, whatever registers from PoE1 can still be transferred, while allowing you to multi-class, change class, add extra features that werent in the original. In fact it would be quite frustrating having to choose between having all these new toys to play with, or continuing your save game story. This way its the best of both worlds.

Wow thanks for the great breakdown. This is similar to what I was thinking re lvl 4 priest spells capping off nicely for a multi. The downside being spell power but that's a given for versatility. I like the look of Paladin reviving at the highest levels though. I'm looking at Templar though and not Crusader, although in principle it will be similar there will be slight variations.

Yeah at least form what I currently know, it just seems odd that you're a non Berathean priest instantly after agreeing to be Beraths champion. From what I saw and recall (skimming through the video), even in a dialogue option early on with Eder, you acknowledge this re Berath. Then moments later you're casting spells in the name of another God.

Based on the recent live stream of the full game, it looks like your only option other than a very quick ending, is to return to Eora as a champion of Berath. I wonder how roleplay wise someone can reconcile this if you're a priest devoted to another god? One could say, 'I had no choice', but then you instantly become a level 1 priest of Eothas/Magran/etc as soon as you return hhhmmmmm

Hey I'm aiming to avoid spoilers for a while once Deadfire is released. So I'm hoping I can get some opinions and build suggestions for a either: a) Templar - Kind Wayfarer / Eothasian Priest or b) Eothasian Priest or c) Kind Wayfarer Paladin I'm definitely leaning towards the Templar, however (as it should be) there are some pretty cool high level abilities that will be sacrificed that I saw in the life stream; particularly for Paladin. * How would you build your Templar based on the current knowledge abilities. * Or would you prefer to go single on either class based on the highest level abilities? Thanks for your help!

Portraits II
PneumaticFire replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Maybe try Mikey Dowling - he'll at least know who to ask. (and yeah, that watecolour looks weird) Uh.... it is a little late in the day. The game releases on tuesday and is already pre loading on steam, you should brought this up months ago. If you can tell us what you want changed I am sure many who regularly read this thread could easily make some simple edits to patch up the watercolor to be more to your taste. I noticed it early on, and unfortunately forgot and didn't get back around to it until now. Hopefully it can be implemented in one of the inevitable patches coming out soon after release. I'm hoping they can make it relatively more 'defined', particularly around the lips and eyes, to the same quality as the other in game watercolour portraits. -

Guys, I'm happy with my custom backer portrait (my forum profile pic), but not too impressed with how the watercolour has turned out, at least in the backer. I used to contact Katrina re portrait issue. Who would be the best contact now re portrait/backer queries. See image below to see why: -
Yes! After waiting for so long, only a few days to go and I'm sure you're all just as excited as I am. One request that I'm sure we all share. Please refrain even more so from having potential spoilers in your thread titles, or not hiding them in your comments with the spoiler tab option. I work as a construction site manager 6 days a week and I'm training for a martial arts comp coming up, so my spare time is very limited. Many of us won't be playing through the majority of the content straight off for a number of reasons, either due to time constraints, waiting for patches and bug fixes, for character builds etc. but would still like to participate in this community in the meantime So lets celebrate and enjoy the game and share our enthusiasm in this community, but please do so mindfully! <3

I think it's fun until it gets repetitive. Perhaps a solution would be to only have the ship-to-ship text encounters for high level ships/crews, almost like boss fights, or the occasional scripted interaction in other parts of the game. This way it would emphasise the importance of the battle. Then your low to mid tier ships are instant board. -
That's assuming the crocs and the platypi won't get you first. This is PneumaticFire's friend. Unfortunately this happened 30mins ago. I ask for one minute's silence in honour of him, and a complaint to Obsidian that their live stream wasnt done on proper Wednesday but in delayed American time.Thank you.

What? So many people here are actually interested in the story and aesthetic elements of the game more than cycling over stats and numbers to near OCD savant syndrome levels? Wow, who wouldve thought? The game so far looks and plays beautifully in the way it seems to have evolved over all from Pillars 1. Im mostly looking forward to the way the story evolved from here and the interaction between the character and their world/companions/Eothas and the gods.
