  5. Yeah Sargallath! Please, tell us how you got the armor, the tail and wings!
  6. oh common! if we start being as radical as those islamists bombers, our society is screwed! I found it funny and i am christian. BTW, there was another animated gif with Jesus being ressurected by a "phoenix down" posted a few months ago on these boards. This one was funny too!
  7. I read on some forums that the guys responsible for the M4-78 Restoration Project were discussing about its future. This means that they might drop it, which, IMHO, is a shame since some work has already been done. I was wondering if you guys wanted to continue that project once you are done with the SLR one.
  8. If you use that logic, then how do you justify the -2 for dwarves? They have a very strong personnality... Whatc penalty would best suit them? -2 to DEX? except for the crafting arts, they arent famous for being discreet and agile...
  9. so you suggest that half-elves should get +1 DEX -1 CON, their standard abilities, plus one bonus skill point every two levels, for example? The problem with that is that the half-elf race becomes some kind of hybrid race without its own specifities or originality. That is why I suggest giving them a +2 to WIS and -2 to CHA (for the reasons mentioned in one of my previous posts) instead. BTW, when I examine the 6 Basic races, I want to give a bonus in a different stat for each one of them. That way, the player will have a choice in regards to which race can suit better his character. For example, half-elves, as I just decribed them, would be potentialy good divine spellcasters. My main problems, here again, are dwarves and elves. I can keep dwarves as they are: +2 CON, -2 CHA but what about elves? Don't you think they deserve getting a bonus to both DEX and CHA? Elves are known for their agility and beauty after all... But to balance things, they need a penalty to 2 other stats. Since they are know to be frail, I could give them a -2 to CON. Should that justify a -2 to STR too though? Can you think of another penalty?
  10. Ok, I aknowledge that messing with the bonus stats and penalties each race gets isnt the brightest thing to do, but I was just suggesting some ideas. I still dont like the way races are handled in d&d. Volourn just pointed two accurate things that prove that it isn't justified for dwarves to get a -2 to cha or dex. But what should they get instead? I have to admit that dwarves are supposed to be ugly and untidy (with their beards and stuff). The -2 to cha is justified since charisma takes into account beauty among other criteria. Can you think of other alternatives for each race? I do believe that dwarves, elves and half-elves are the ones that are problematic. Half-elves deserve to get a bonus stat and a penalty to another stat as they are a race as a whole. The way they are designed in d&d cant be satisfactory in any way. Another problem is with elves. They are known for their agility and natural grace, so they should get +2 to both dex and cha. Yet, the Phb only gives them a +2 to dex.
  11. IMO, I still find them very ugly, and I FINALLY found a way to disable them. I went to the NW vault and looked for an altered cloakmodel.2da file and there was one. I just downloaded it and put it in my override folder and VOILA! No more stupid-looking cloaks! http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=other.Detail&id=1134
  12. To color your cloaks, you need those special items to dye them and those cannot be easily found in custom-made modules. Besides, changing their color won't remove their ugliness.
  13. Actually, the trick doesn't really work but if someone has some knowledge about programming and stuff, there should be a way to mess with that cloakmodel.2da file. I am just so clueless about these things...
  14. http://nwn.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic.ht...523042&forum=49 Thanks, I posted my problem there and got an answer! There is a way to get rid of those awful cloaks! Alleluiah!
  15. As most of people who are still playing NWN1, I downloaded the latest patch (1.68) that added visible cloaks among other features. After playing with it for a while, I started disliking the way cloaks were made for the game (they looked more like huge potato bags than anything else!) and deciced to un-install the game and to re-install it. I then installed patch 1.67 instead and tried to load some of my previous savegames. To my big surprise, I couldn't load them because they were saved under the newest patch, which caused some incompatibility issues with my current version of NWN. Now I am literally stuck without knowing what to do. Is there a way to undo what patch 1.68 did to my savegames or do I have to go through the game (actually, they are just fan-made mods, not the OC) all over again? Can someone help me please?
  16. Viva america!
  17. Regarding basic races, I have thought of doing some other modifications. Getting a single +2 to one stat and a -2 to another one just doesn't reflect each races' true features, so I altered and added some stat bonuses: Half-Orc: +2 STR, CON -2 INT, CHA; some bonus skills (whatever Jorian says about half-orcs, I find them too weak and unbalanced. The +2 to strength doesn't make up for the loss of -2 in two other stats. Why should anyone pick this race when there are so many others that are suitable for powergaming? Half-Elf: +2 WIS (they have a broader vision of things because of their double lineage), -2 CHA (bastards aren't easily accepted in any society), some of the racial bonuses of elves (I keep that as it is), plus 4 bonus skill points at first level Dwarves: I consider dwarves to be rather clumsy people (they dont even know how to walk silently) +2 CON, -2 DEX. However, they are strong but fugly: +2 STR and -2 CHA Elves: Most elves are considered to be beautiful as to human standards, they are dexterous but weak in constitution too, in addition to feeling superior to other races (making them less open-minded): +2 DEX and CHA, -2 CON and WIS Gnomes : small stature -2 STR, +2 DEX; creative and intelligent but non-sensical beings: +2 INT, -2 WIS Halflings: Cunning and dexterous, but weaker due to small size: +2DEx and INT, -2 STR and CON All these changes offer many more choices to the player in terms of class development and multiclassing. Most people wont agree with these modifications though. I have also made some changes to the underdark races that I will post later.
  18. http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p214/ra.../P1010076-1.jpg This is one of the pictures I took myself. That dog felt so itchy that it needed to scratch its old butt somewhere in the street. I just love the expression on its face!
  19. I didnt know there were so many planetouched races... how clueless I am... Anyway, I dont really want to implement all of them. I was just thinking that races should be balanced in each category (normal, ECL1, ECL2, etc). I still havent made up my mind though. And concerning my sig, all the characters I create are human since I always wanna get my bonus feat and skills. ^_^ Nothing in the world can replace that.
  20. All about d&d is strategy and careful planning of your actions. Choosing a race and a class are ways for the players to affect their tactics but at the end, everyone should be more or less equal. I call that the principle of "equality of arms" (meh, that's a principle of law, but anyway). The way you have built your character will then make the difference but eveyone should be deserved the same treatment and the same chances of success at the initial stage (meaning the first levels). Despite your opinions, what do you think would be the most balanced way to put aasimars and tieflings on the same level. I have already dealt with the other planetouched races such as the genasis. Here's what I propose: each race keeps its initial abilities but: earth genasis get +2 CON -2 CHA fire genasis get +2 STR -2 CHA water genasis get +2 WIS -2 CHA air genasis get +2 DEX -2 CHA aasimars only get +2 CHA tieflings get +2 INT -2 CHA in addition to that, to balance a bit things since aasimars get a free +2 to their total number of stat points, all the other planetouched races get a +1 or +2 on bluff, intimidate, sense motive and diplomacy. The way things have been designed, I allow the player to pick the planetouched race that suits him best in terms of class development. He needs high dex, get an air genasi... He needs a cleric, get a water genasi... Of course, I have removed all these rules about favored classes: they are too restrictive in my opinion.
  21. http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3152902 that's it, I am outraged! How the heck am I supposed to play the new zelda now? Oh, WTH, I will buy myself a GC later in the next year... It will surely be cheap enough...
  22. There's Neverending Daze too on NWvault. Some people find these series hilarious, but I dont find these episodes THAT funny... They are ok at best. PS: There's Neverending Nights too: a parody for NWN1 made by the same authors.
  23. Another issue that troubles me is the obvious lack of balance among two of the planetouched subraces. The major difference between Aasimars and Tieflings is that the former gets a double stat bonus (WIS and CHA), while the latter only gets a single stat bonus (bonus to INT and DEX and penalty to CHA, 2-1=1). How can we balance that? I was thinking of either giving a bit more skill bonuses to the tiefling (+2 to diplomacy and intimidate) or to only give a CHA bonus to Aasimars. What do you think?
  24. http://ars.userfriendly.org/cartoons/?id=20061116 if you have other comic strips, post them!
  25. I guess the Wii is well worth its money but if one waits for one year or so, he might get it cheaper (50 dollars-euros less)
