Well, I like powergaming. That is why I don't want to miss the bonus feats available at level 9 and 10.
-
What do you guys think about my suggestion to raise the levl cap from 8 to level 9 or 10?
-
1) It would be nice just to deal with the main Black Hound campaign and see what happens. I'd estimate about 15-20 modules worth of material, which is an enormous undertaking. 2) Still levels 1-8, core PHB classes only (no warlock and no prestige classes). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think it would be better to raise the level cap to lv9 or 10. Level 9 because any character gets a feat, level 10 because some classes gain some bonuses on that level (rogue, fighter, wizard bonus feats, extra barbarian rage, etc). It would be a shame to prevent the player from gaining such bonuses. Is that feasible though? Please, don't put phat l00t in TBH. At best, +2 enchanted items should be available in it. No more than that. Oh, and no random loot either, please. I hate that (I hope the others will agree with me on that issue).

I uploaded a folder containing all the info about TBH I could collect on rapidshare. There's a pic of the game in it, which kinda reminds me of the BG2 engine (which I really like). The link is somewhere in this thread (page 2 I think). Cheers.

Small Poll for the fun of it: Which of the two options would you prefer? 1) Sawyer uses the old Mystary engine (supposing that such a thing was possible) to complete TBH as it was supposed to be. There were only 6 months of work left before the project got cancelled (area population, implementing dialogues, etc) so this won't take very long. I wonder if we could buy the engine from Herve since he is in desperate need of money (100 bucks would do...no? hehe) 2) Sawyer uses the NWN2 engine to develop TBH and takes 2-3 years to do so...

I have a couple of question about Jefferson: 1) BIS intended to make a new trilogy out of Jefferson's story. If I had understood correctly, TBH was just the first part of it. So my question is whether Sawyer intends to produce the entire trilogy in his module, or just the TBH part. Sorry if I sound greedy, this is not my intent. I just want to clarify things... 2) TBH was supposed to have a level cap of 8. I really don't mind playing low-level campaigns and I really hope that Sawyer's module will remain as it was planned to be. Will that be the case or will the module adjust everything so that players can get from lv1 to lv20 like the OC?

That's why they stripped you from your moderator title... you were too lazy "

Hey Sammael, feel free to use the stuff I have in my Jefferson folder! http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showtopic=44732&hl=

I have already made this suggestion to Sawyer, but I wanted to share it with the rest of you guys. If, at some point, Josh needs some voice actors for his modules' dialogues, I am pretty sure that many of people on these boards (including myself) would be happy to contribute. It will increase the module's quality and make it look even more professional. I am pretty sure that, with our creativity and imagination, we could get some good results. We could try various english accents, funny voices, etc...

It's kinda ugly... I really feel disappointed now... They should have used the Infinity Engine instead: its graphics never get old at least, and are far more detailed than the broken hourglass' ones. Wasn't Bioware supposed to distribute the codes for the IE for free? What happened? I am sure a whole bunch of modders would have been happy...
-
and Obsidian is the reincarnation of Black Isle Studios, which was responsible for the development of Planescape Torment, and of the Icewind Dale Games. Black Isle Studios was a department of Interplay, which in turn published with Bioware the Baldur's Gate games (which kick aSs btw) and Bioware is... do I have to go on?
-
Don't stop on my account. This project looks great and I'd love to hear whatever you have to say. Besides, the title just says "NWN2 Modding project" that is what you are doing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, be our guest!

I have got only the following thing to say: He who laughs last, laughs best.
-
Can someone tell me how to use those files, please? Concerning the project's future, why doesn't the team try to recruit new members? How far has the team gone in its work? 50% or less? If it's the former, it would be a waste to give up when you have half of the work done...

LOL! As energetic as ever! Seriously, I just made a small and simple reference to God to reflect my own opinion. However, there is no need to talk about God in an issue like the capital punishment. The fact that noone has the right to decide about another's right to live is almost universally accepted in any democratic societies that adhere to the values of human rights, no matter of religion. You are the one who made a big issue about this... Anyway, you are just making a poor interpretation of what God and Religion is. First of all, we do no have the typical parent-child relationship with God (depending on your view). If you do believe in God, there is life after death, so death is not that tragic. It is more tragic for the people who care for you. Still, there are many interpretations about why one has to die (a challenge for the family in order to become better persons, etc). I wont get into that though since this isnt our topic. All the mass murder that has been done all these centuries have been supposedly made in the name of God, but were they reflecting the will of God or were they just reflecting the corrupted vision of a few leaders, that believed they were serving God (or just pretended to )? Your arguments are thus null and void... sorry, pal...
-
still, if one attaches importance to human rights, he/she can only find intolerable the idea of suppressing a human life under any circumstance. I am just sad to see how many of you support the capital punishment without second thoughts. We are at a time in Human History in which we must start learning from the error of the past and start looking at new, more humane, practices and methods. It is unworthy of people who claim to live in a developed and civilised world, to support such a thing as capital punishment. It is just a way for society to easily erase its own mistakes and a way to divert its sight from the truth. People and Governments are satisfied with the most easy solution instead of thinking of new ways to reduce criminality. Moreover, if we claim to be civilised, we ought to be merciful and act in productive manner instead of anwering to a crime, by committing another crime... this is... just barbaric... The most basic right of a human person is to live. Noone has the right to remove this right, except from God. Concerning the criminal who has killed an innocent person, he should be punished in an approriate way without recreating what he has done.

What? YOU are the one making statements of fact about American law. Since when do I have to prove you wrong? YOU have to prove that your facts are correct, since YOU are the one who is spouting them. Oh, the irony. I have merely lived here my whole life, but I am ignorant about the laws that govern me, whereas you, who do not live here, are apparently not ignorant about the laws that govern me. What's more, you feel obliged to spout arrogant idiocies, challenging me to prove you wrong rather than supporting your "facts" with sources. ROFL. Again, oh the irony. I guess your own comment doesn't apply to you, hmmmmm? You are the one who is being arrogant and rude, sir, not I. I made no comment whatsoever about Europe, since I do not even know what country you are from. You are the one "teasing" and taunting Americans, even going so far as to claim you had even gotten the reaction you had hoped for. THAT, young man, is rude. At least I was raised that it was rude to taunt people and insult their ethnicity. I have no idea what kind of manners you were raised with. Nice conclusion. Jump there often? You know absolutely nothing about me or my views on capital punishment other than the fact that I happen to be an American living in California. Guess all of us yanks are alike, huh? LOL. Conclusion-jumping is also rude. Have a nice day. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Since you were asking for proof, I have made some quick research. You will find all the relevant quotes and links at the end of my post. Indeed, Bush did not reintroduce the death penalty (my mistake) but was the guy who made the most frequent use of the death penalty (I made a confusion between those two). This is, in a sense, even worse. Making a very strict application of the capital punishment doesn

Wow... just wow... prejudiced much? An entire speech on taking the Moral high ground, ending it with a National Slur and Insult, well done, that truly shows your enlightenment. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you cant differ teasing from prejudice, then I pity ya as well... (I was expecting that kind of reaction, thanks for giving me satisfaction, pal) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You know, ramza, I don't know where you get your information on American and Americans, but you really ought to do us all a favor and change your sources. You consistently make statements of "fact" about my country which are not only inaccurate but frequently assinine... ala "George Bush re-introduced the death penalty" and a bunch of gobblygook about California laws that are absolute rubbish (I live in California, btw). Then you make a totally bigoted statement about America which you admit was done solely to annoy others and so that you could taunt us again if someone objects to your rudeness. I respectfully request that you reconsider your behavior here. It does not reflect well on you or your own country. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hey, try to prove me wrong then... I am not american, and my sources may be inaccurate, but until this is proven to be true, I have the right to stick to my opinions. I have read many articles, watched many documentaries and such... they cant be ALL wrong... Just prove the contrary and I will believe you... Maybe things have changed since my sources are, let's say, 5 years old, but you still have to prove me that I am wrong. You dont sound any more credible than me by stating that you live in California... Most people are ignorant about their own country's legal system anyway (not that I criticize them for that, but one has to be careful when talking about laws and such, if he/she doesn't have much knowledge in that field). Since when was I was rude? I just said that I pitied your country... I didnt insult anyone here... Pitying someone is considered to be rude? LOL Besides, I said that I pitied your country IF, and ONLY if, all americans were cruel persons such as some of the people on these boards. Yes, no matter what you say, the death penalty is about killing someone and in any case, murder is cruel... You cannot deny that... I can understand people with a lack of education and living in poor conditions being cruel, but I cant forgive cruel people that have everything they wish. We just ought to be more merciful than the rest or else there would be absolute chaos... Fortunately, not everyone is cruel... Believe what you will, I havent done anything to harm anyone's sensitivities... if you dont like europe, just say so... I dont mind, its just your opinion... If you were trying to protect human lives as much as you were trying to protect your country's reputation, things would be better... people just dont know their priorities...game over...

One is an unlawful act against an innocent, one is a Lawful act against a Criminal. We as a Civilized Society have rules and laws that dictate our response and course of action when someone violates those laws. Applying your Circular Logic, when our troops come back from war we should place them in prison for Murder or being accomplices to Murder... the real world simply does not work like that. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep, that sums it up in a nutshell. While I know that there are some good people in the world that can rise above it, there will always be those whom drag humanity down once more, just like crabs in a bucket. --------------- I believe that is our nature. If you are a creationist then you believe we were made in God's image but fell. Yes we did, hard and far. If you are an evolutionist then we are animals descended from animals and how could you expect any better from us? But those of us who are able to move beyond our base instincts deserve to be protected from the ones who don't. I'll agree the death penalty is not effective as soon as Ted Bundy kills another college girl, Tim McVeigh blows up another building, etc. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My oh my! I cant believe what I am reading here! You really disappoint me guys... you should know that nothing is a fatality in this world... we can change things if we want to... 1) If a guy killed a person that was dear to me, I would certainly NOT kill him. That would make me a murderer too... I would just do my best so that he gets the maximum jail sentence in order to retribute him... The sadness will be there but you have to think about the consequences of your actions. You may kill a father, a brother, a husband, no matter if he is a bastard... you have to take into consideration if the person that was dear to me would want me to kill her murderer (and thus ruining my life for a petty vengeance), etc etc etc... We cannot kill someone else just for the purpose of revenge or else we are going back to the primitive societies... We have the state to keep things organised and to prevent such things from happening. The state's justice will have the mission of retributing the murderer in order to satisfy the victim and keep social order... Thats how things work... Therefore, killing the murderer of your wife is still an unlawful act... Then, we have to consider whether the state has the power to kill someone... That is more a policy question but I believe that any country that promotes the ideals of democracy and of human rights should respect the most basic right which is the right to live. We are a modern civilisation and should learn from our past... death penalty leads nowhere. 2) You say that it is part of human nature to be violent and to kill... still, if we proclaim ourselves to be civilised, we should act as such... murder cannot be accepted in a civilised society be it lawful or unlawful (as I have already said). If you claim to be civilised, then show it! Someone said that people will keep being violent as long as they dont have enough food, a shelter, etc. Then why are you guys "promoting" a form of violence? You have everything a guy living in third world country could wish for. Should't you show the good example and show mercy? Bloodshed leads to more bloodshed, vengeance to more vengeance. If people like us, who live comfortably, behave like animals (I would say worse than animals, because animals are not vengeful), how do you expec t things to become better? Souldn't we be looking for alternate solutions instead on focusing on the most brutal solution? Contrary to those people living in poor countries, we have education and such... we should be above the basic human instincts... 3) No matter how you call it, death penalty is MURDER. You cannot counter that fact no matter what you say. You take the life of another person! game over! If all americans think as you do people, then I pity your country... Goodnight fellas.

Anyway, I wont analyze each of the things you have said, but I will make a small correction. The UN declaration of human rights is quite different from the European convention of human rights. As a law student, I can tell you there is a huge difference. The UN declaration is just a declaration, which means that it doesn't have any binding value. Some states may take it inot consideration in their legal systems but there isn't an external controlling body checking if they apply correctly the declaration. On the other hand, the european convention IS legally binding, meaning that there is an independant european court of human rights controlling the application of this convention. If it discovers that a state has violated a specific article of the convention, it will render this state liable and will make it pay huge fines, order it to change its laws and, depending on the cases, give damages to the individuals that suffered from that violation. It is important to say that thanks to this system, protection of human rights has considerably increased during the last 20 years in europe and it is not by chance that all specialists call europe "the sanctum of human rights". I dont say that the US dont respect human rights, but I believe they havent gone as far as that Convention has in this field. Death penalty is an example of this (I wont get into details since the protection guaranteed by the Convention isnt perfect but is nonetheless considerable).

ooooo, something is smelling... Is that you volo? No, seriously, you seem to have misinterpreted all I have said in my previous post... I never said that I was morally superior to anyone: all I was trying to say is that people have different moral compasses and mine was against the death penalty. Secondly, I never said that Europe is superior to the US but it is a fact that we a stronger system of protection of human rights (just take a look at the Convention of human rights at wikipedia). This Convention was adopted after WW2, so I dont have the pretense to say Europe was the heaven of human rights before that. Moreover, it took a long time to establish those rights. However, we can affirm today that those rights constitute the common values of all western european countries and that it would be inadmissible for most europeans to re-introduce the death penalty. So, there IS a difference of culture within the two continents. I surely wont blame America for their position anway... Then, you talk about the baby's right to live... Of course this was a horrid crime and I am 100% in favor of punishing this man, but in the just way... You cant simply kill him for that. As I have said, if he sick, put him in a facility for people mentally disables, otherwise, let him rot in a cell. If his case wasn't so extreme, we could have even given him a chance to re-enter society after putting him in some re-habilitation programs. This guy deserves prison for life anyway. Moreover, how does it make inhuman and insensitive for trying to protect that guy from the death penalty sentence? There must be an incoherence in what you are saying, so stop taking drugs, volo... Is it human for you to wish for this guy's death while you dont even know him or his family? is it even human to wish for ANYONE's death and be happy when it comes? Finally, I still believe, no matter what you say, that people do not behave "badly" for no reason. There is most of the time a reason behind it (mental defficiency, social background). It is true that some people are simple bastards or irresponsible (I am not sure whether this guy would enter this category since no SANE parent would beat their children to death for such a PETTY thing, unless he was proven to be on drugs or to be alchoholic). Anyway, any of those reasons do NOT justify their actions. These people should take responsability and suffer the consequences for their actions. Incarceration is the best solution as long as it is proven that these people constitute a real threat for the public order... Just NO death penalty... It is an especially cruel sentence no matter what the other did... besides, death is not a punishment... you are just saving him the trouble of wandering in this lowly world suffering from the consequences of his actions in jail (living all your life in jail is one of the worst things that can happen to one who once had a home, a family, etc...just like this guy). Chill up, volo! Go take a shower!
