  1. Well, they did add the premium modules made by them (and not modules from the nwvault community). I still find this a poor excuse for a re-release but I didn't get the chance to complain about it at the time... My main gripe against CDP is that I am seeing a trend where they will be releasing a new version with a tiny number of new stuff and small changes that are actually not that essential (like a patch)... The game is already stable in its current state...
  2. Krezack: Oh my, that was a very well-argumented answer... If you can't understand that there is almost nothing new and worthwhile in this new edition, then I pity you... It adds practically NOTHING to the already existing EE. Everything is already there online and not really that necessary. Imagine if Beth and Bio picked the best mods out there and made an ultimate package. How ridiculous would that seem? I appreciate what CDP has done so far but this will not prevent me from criticizing the company when I believe they are acting poorly... Yet, you keep justifying them. At this rate, we will get a dozen editions of The Witcher, each with a different patch and a new artbook... Llyranor: Meh, go back to bed and stop posting here...
  3. I still cannot understand how you say that the death penalty is an acceptable practice (as long as it isn't abused). What's in for you? What do you have to gain from the death of some random criminal? As you may have noticed, the victims do not feel better in any case... If it's about the dissuasive effect, crimes keep happening... So, nope, I find it appalling when someone supports the death penalty. Who are we to decide whether one shall live or not? All we can decide upon is the manner in which we can "neutralize" an individual. The most usual solution is to send them to a prison. However, in the old times, criminals were banned from the city they live in and they were never allowed to return... Seriously, if we either beat the hell out of criminals or sent them on some remote island (without handcuffs or prisons), you would see drastic changes in society without having to kill anybody. Some people just require some serious beating in order to understand that what they did was wrong and to no act in the same way again... In some cases, suffering (within limits) is an excellent way to learn some things about life...
  4. I think recurring dreams are a pretty rare occurrence... I, myself, have had the same dream twice only once in my life. The weirdest experience though is when you are having dreams that continue when you fall asleep again after having woken up from a nightmare... For example, I do remember when I was a kid (8 years old approx) when I had this dream where some member of my family had turned into a vampire and was hiding in some corner of the house waiting for its next victim. I then woke up all scared and fell asleep again. Then, another member of my family had turned into a vampire. This would go on until all my family were vampires and I was left all alone! Fortunately, the nightmare ended there... It was weird though. This kind of experience may have happened two or three more times in my life... So it's a pretty rare thing too...
  5. Yawwwwn... The death penalty debate again... I can't understand those people that support it. What makes you think that you have the right to take the life of someone? Yes, they have killed but that's their problem. Killing is a crime no matter the reason and you are making the circle of violence endure even longer. Saying "an eye for an eye" is just plain stupid. If it's all about retribution, I can think of a thousand ways to make a criminal regret his actions without having to kill him. Killing someone because he killed someone else is pointless. There's no lesson to be learned and you can't make an example out of him... It is also preferable to know that the criminal is suffering for his actions. I doubt his death will soothe the victim's feelings... Here are some examples: 1) Drop him on a desert island with barely any trees for him to make a wooden raft. 2) Even better, drop all criminals on a desert island and let them live together (they might kill each other but that's their problem). I guess we, Europeans, have more sensibilities when it comes to the protection and the value of human life. This probably explains why we have a different position than the US on the topic of death penalty.
  6. So looks like you never heard of NWN Diamond NWN diamond edition included both expansions and all of the official module packs released at the time. It had the merit of adding something compared to previous packages (and it was all stuff made by Bio itself)... Atari/Bioware even had the decency not to release a new version when the 3 other modules packs (infinite dungeons, pirates of the sword coast and knights of cormyr - or however those are called) became available. If it had been CDP, they would have made another ultimate package and would have said "Look, we got some more stuff for you, it's uber cool"... RPGamers are not cretins as far as I know... We ain't buying that...
  7. In any case, to put it simply, I disagree with the choice of repackaging the game as this new version has barely any new content (and most of it is not even made by the company). This adds almost nothing to the already existing EE. How many people are they left that haven't already played the game? How many people who have already played it, will play it again? Not many... So, it does seem rather pointless to repackage the game... It's as if Bioware re-released NWN1 along with the newest patch and a couple of hall of fame modules... People would have found that ridiculous and would have attributed this to the milking of the franchise, so why everything thinks its normal when CDP does this? Doing it once with the EE was a nice move, but it seems to become a trend for them to release a new version with each major patch... WTF??? They are also releasing a Director's Cut??? This is just confirming what I have been saying... With each update, they make a new re-release...
  8. Wrong... you are stating your opinion, not a fact. Poor Ramza, somebody gives something away for free and you get all upset. Why? It's not like it is something that could have taken a lot of resources away from CD Project RED. Removing the DRM is a nice touch Besides, they are the only company that repackage and rerelease older titles. I am not getting upset. I just don't like it when developers are selling their hype for something that is basically the same product that has already been released before. The mods are not even their creation! It's ridiculous to include them in a new package and then say "see, we made something new!" It's as if they treated us like mindless consumers that would go buy every edition they would try to sell as "new and different". It is no better than the milking EA and other companies do to their franchises. Yes, it was a nice move from CDP with the first EE, but they are now overdoing it. The worst thing is that people are buying all this hype...
  9. I'll add my voice to this: why did you buy the EE? It was a free upgrade, just like this one. This is not a rerelease. It's a large patch + popular fan mods. For free. You are sitting at your computer, b****ing at a company for patching their game and including some extra content. But, it IS a re-release with a small bunch of insignificant things added to the package. The addition of the latest patch and of fan-made mods does not make this a new game not does it change the previous version in a significant way (compared to what the EE did to the original game)... So, this is a lousy re-release no matter how you see it... I am not stating an opinion, it's just a fact... Also, popular does not necessarily mean that they are good. Besides, I would rather prefer playing official stuff from the company than some lousy modules. I never bought the original game but did buy for the EE for all its goodies. I will certainly not buy the newest version as it doesn't add much (the game is very playable even without patching). Their commercial move might be interesting for all those who haven't bought the game yet, but there aren't that many people left since the RPG genre is a niche one with a relatively small crowd, and RPGamers usually get their hands on popular games just as soon as they get released. IMO, there is no merit in this version and it isn't worth the hype as it doesn't give us anything new (from the company, since it isn't them who made the mods)...
  10. Hahaha! Serves them right, those suckers!
  11. They could have just sticked to the original Enhanced Edition. Do we really need this? The patch updates can be downloaded anytime from the official site and the modules are not anything official (they can thus be ignored). We have been waiting for a sequel for some time now, and all they have been doing is milking the same game again and again. Common, this is just a patch and a few fan-made modules (which could be crappy by the way). Does this justify a re-release? Certainly not. I admit that the original EE did add to the game but this thing is just worthless and not even worth the hype (yes, they are hyping this as a something new, but it isn't anything extraordinary). As some people have stated on the Codex thread, the company may be doing this just to avoid seeing the game fall in the bargain bin. I find this whole commercial move to be ridiculous, and it is time they move on to a new project. Most of the people interested in RPGs have already bought or played the game, so I don't think this new version will have any significant impact on the company's sales. The Witcher is reaching its end cycle and it's time for a sequel...
  12. Roflmao, this is beyond ridiculous! The Witcher Version 1.5 Coming Soon! CD Projekt RED is pleased to announce the upcoming release of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition 1.5! The Witcher: Enhanced Edition 1.5 is the newest version of the game, including all bonus content from The Witcher: Enhanced Edition and five additional fan-made adventures. Most importantly, The Witcher: Enhanced Edition 1.5 is completely DRM-free! Playing The Witcher will be even more fun without any form of annoying copy protection. Moreover, the 1.5 version of The Witcher will remove the disc check, allowing you to play the game without the DVD in the drive. All available versions of the game will be upgraded to 1.5, including the forthcoming The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director
  13. But, for how long can it be awesome? I have had way lot more fun by playing online with any of the CoD games. Those are true FPSs... L4D may be quite fun and addictive at the beginning but it gets tiresome after playing it a dozen of times... And the graphics do suck for a game of its age... Graphics do not matter for RPGs, but they Do matter for FPSs...
  14. That's a pretty silly post to make considering that before it I recall only one person complaining about it being an MMO (Visceris, as usual) and everybody else going "wow" and "it's tyte". Edit: Oh, I see, ramza complimented the game while complaining it was an MMO as he'd prefer singleplayer. Well then, that's 1 person and 1 troll - certainly enough to validate your moan! HA! Look who's talking!
  15. Darth Malak / Darth Vador clone... Bioware is very creative, as usual... Maybe they should turn this into an animated series instead of a game... lol
  16. http://kotaku.com/5274800/old-republic-gets-new-trailer Nice cinematics but it doesn't give us any clue about the gameplay... Too bad it's a mmorpg, since I would definitely love to play this as a single player rpg... They should consider making a single-player spin-off...
  17. How come you guys loved L4D? It was a totally average, boring and forgettable game...
  18. We still have an unfinished game (that was supposed to be BG3) that needs some love and caring in order to get completed.
  19. I have postponed playing KOTOR2 just because of this mod... I bought the game when it was released and I am still waiting to play it just because of TG... I don't understand what's keeping them from releasing the mod (even in an incomplete state)... So many people are waiting for it... Fortunately, I have tons of other games to keep me busy...
  20. Bad taste... NWN1 and IWD2 are light-years beyond Oblivion in terms of gameplay and quality (excluding graphics of course, which is normal since those games weren't released at the same time as Oblivion). I used to rely on reviews from different websites (IGN, Gamespot, RPGamer, etc) back in the late 90s and early 00s, but I quickly understood that the quality of reviews dropped at some point. They weren't as enlightening as before and I did get the impression that some reviewers were already "sold" on some games even before they got released. Even after release, they would turn a blind eye on some of the game's flaws, or would minimize them. I find it also weird that some games got some extraordinary ratings (like Oblivion) while some other got above average/acceptable ratings (like NWN2). Yet, NWN2 was a LOT better than Oblivion. Beth is well known for its hype machine and Obsidian is known not to focus too much on it. Is that makes the difference in ratings? Then, this is not acceptable. A game should be judged from its inherent qualities and not the company's hype. I have heard multiple times about the posh receptions in 5 star hotels that Beth was organizing. No wonder they got incredible reviews. Add this to the occasional firing of a reviewer who was naive enough to write what he really thought of the game... No really, online reviews are unreliable and I have decided to boycott them a long time ago... Another thing that put me off when reading the reviews were the incredible scores. How many games nowadays get score like 95+%. Such scores ought to be ultra rare. Yet, they are being distributed quite generously at some games...
  21. I just finished book V. It's pretty easy...
  22. Snif, I lost 10 bucks....
  23. Ok, so I just got ripped 10 bucks for a sucky game....
  24. What? I found no spear on his corpse... Did I have to fight the little creatures that killed him or what? Anyway, I am in book V now and I agree that the game becomes extremely easy after the second one, especially when you get the mighty uber magical sword of death...
  25. I am in book III right now. It is nearly impossible to complete book II if you don't have the Animal Kinship discipline. Bad design...
