  1. Snif, will there ever be a 3rd NWN2 expansion?
  2. I wrote to Atari UK 3 days ago and I am still waiting for an answer... Bad customer support... No wonder that people use more questionable methods to play their games...
  3. What about the rumors about a third expansion for NWN2?
  4. So, TW: M2 is a must buy. Is there a big difference in the gameplay compared to TW: M1? Should I also get that one (10 euros only) or do I run the risk of quickly getting bored with it and move on to the sequel which also has better graphics? I should look out for Rome as well as I do like the setting...
  5. If I remember well, an Archivist is like a cleric but learns spells by copying them on a spellbook instead of them being granted to him by the gods. Moreover, he has less combat capabilities. So, unfortunately, this doesn't help much. Thanks anyway. Would my class be overpowered if I just granted it four 8th lv spells for both arcane and divine magic? That would simply be (3+3) 6 more spell slots than the average wiz/cleric/mystic theurge build...

  7. I have found Medieval 1 gold and Medieval 2 gold for 10 euros and 15 euros respectively. Should I buy them? Are there other games from the series that I should look for?
  8. Hi, Thanks for your reply. The Witch class seems quite interesting. I see it uses one single spell progression table and uses either WIS or CHA as the main spellcasting ability score (whichever is higher). Unfortunately, I am looking for a way to create a character than can cast both high level arcane and divine spells just like a lv40 wizard/cleric would do (20 levels for each class). The problem is balance. First, I have to remove any special abilities and bonus feats (including familiars and domain spells). Secondly, I have to see what the Mystic Theurge, as a prestige class, achieves to do. On a level 20 basis, we can have a lv5 wiz/ lv5 cleric/ lv 10 mystic theurge. Thus, the character would be able to cast spells as a 15th level wizard and a 15th level cleric at the same time. How do I make up for the remaining 5 levels if I want to make a Mystic Theurge base class? 1) Remove any special abilities and feats the character might get from the 5 levels in both the wizard and cleric classes. 2) Make it hard to learn and cast high level spells: all spells must be learned through a spellbook and the character must have very high INT and WIS, thus hampering his other ability scores. Here come other balance issues. Are the cons enough or should I put some more limits? 1) Should the base class be able to cast both 8th or 9th level spells? Are the cons strong enough to justify the use of 9th level spells? 2) How many spells per day should he be able to cast? Should he have two spell progression tables (both the wiz and the cleric's), thus making for a min of 4 spells per day per spell level for each spellcasting "class"? Is this too much? Should I make a single progression table where any spell can be learned with a limit of 6 spell slots per spell level?
  9. Sorry if this has been asked again but will it feature any elements from Van Buren?
  10. ahhhhh, the "joys" of raising a kid...
  11. What happens if, after installing the game, I use the Securom removal tool available at the official Securom website? Will I still be able to run the game?
  12. The idea of the Mystic theurge as a spellcaster that can use both arcane and divine spells is pretty interesting. However, I do not like the way it is implemented in the Mystic Theurge as a prestige class. Thus, I have been thinking of ways of tweaking it and making it a base class. My only prob is to not make this class overpowered. Just a few forewords: Being a generous DM, I have upgraded the Mystic Theurge prestige class in some ways (when one of my players wishes to take levels in that class): His Hitdie is d6, he can wear light armor at best when casting spells, and has a medium BAB progression. I shall get my inspiration from this template rather than the official Mystic Theurge prestige class. Concerning the base class I wish to create: I want it to reflect the ability to cast both arcane and divine spells. The drawback would it be that all spells are learned through scrolls and that the Mystic Theurge needs to have both high INT and WIS ability scores. I have some choices here: 1) Have 2 different spell progression tables (one for each type of spellcasting ability) or keep just a single progression table? 2) How far should the Mystic Theurge's spell progression go? Should he be able to go all the way to 9th level spells? Personally, I would prefer letting him use 9th level spells. 3) How many spell uses should he get? If there are two different tables, should they be similar to the cleric and the wizard's respectively (4 spell slots max for each spell level, for a total of 8 spells per spell level when adding together arcane and divine magic)? If there is a single table, should he get a max of 6 spell slots per spell level? For the rest: d6, high will save progression, 2 skill points per level, medium BAB progression, light armor and simple weapons proficiency, ability to cast spells in light armor, no other feats or special abilities. Any comments are welcome. Cheers.
  13. So, that means no third expansion for NWN2... What a shame... I am not a fan of Fallout...
  14. Ok, here's two more technical questions: 1) Does anyone know how much intrusive is the DRM used by Mass Effect? I have read that the version of Securom that is being installed acts like some sort of spyware. On the other hand, the version of Securom that comes with NWN2 seems lighter and less intrusive. I am no expert and I am just relaying what I have read on the web. 2) Let's suppose I have both NWN2 and Mass effect installed on my pc. At some point, I wish to uninstall Mass Effect along with Securom. Will this affect NWN2?
  15. After a bit of tweaking, I finally managed to get a satisfactory result... I still have to get used to the new interface... I still prefer the NWN1 UI though...
  16. Are you sure there are 3 camera modes? I think there are only 2. Wikipedia confirms this: http://nwn2.wikia.com/wiki/Camera
  17. Thanks for the advice. I will probably write to Atari to ask them for a legitime cd-key. One more issue: the camera is really horrible. I really miss the NWN1 interface. Isn't there a way to make the camera rotate around the character just like in NWN1?
  18. No offense meant, but why do you absolutely have to buy him a video game? What's wrong with today's kids? Can't they have fun in a more traditional way? I got my first console (NES) when I was 8 (in 1990). Why do kids nowadays get to play their first video game at the age of 4 or 5? I do find this a bit unhealthy. There are so many alternatives out there: action figures, toy soldiers, board games, etc. Video games can become an addiction at such a young age, so it's better to teach our children multiple ways of entertaining themselves. Sure, they can play video games but they should learn other games as well. My main prob is that video games make children less sociable (in the sense that most games are played in solo and that it is preferable to play games that require other people as well).
  19. Well, I finally resorted to some questionable methods in order to find the cd-key number and it worked fine on my game. It seems that all the dvds I got are originals. Moreover, after looking on the web, I discovered that it was a common problem in Europe (UK version mostly) to get Soz without a cd-key on the manual (distributor's mistake probably).
  20. So, I decided to make the big step and go buy NWN2 OC + Mask of the betrayer + Storm of Zehir (in separate boxes). I have already installed the OC and the first expansion and they seem to work fine. On the other hand, it seems that the SoZ pack is missing the cd-key number as I cannot find it anywhere on the manual! Do you have a clue as to what I should do? Can Atari (or anyone else) give me the cd-key based on the box' serial number? Or should I return it asap to the seller and claim back part of my money? Edit: Do you know if there is a way to check if the dvds are genuine or fakes/copies? I am asking this because I am having some doubts on the seriousness of the seller and I really hope he hasn't cheated me (although he clearly told me to come back to him if there are any probs).
  21. I have read on many websites that Mass effect's DRM is very intrusive and acts as a type of spyware. The truth is that I do not wish to install anything of the sort on my computer. I was considering buying the game and using one of Nightshade's methods but I am now wondering if it is even worth it. Is there a way to completely neutralize this thing and prevent it from being installed on my pc? Alternatively, I could wait for a boxed release with all 3 (or 2 mass effects). I am in no hurry to play it anyway. I already have The Witcher and Kotor 2 sitting on my shelf and waiting to be played...
  22. So, does the 3 activations-limit remain or not? After re-reading the official announcement, I admit that I am a bit confused... As long as they are not removing it completely, I am not buying the game (unless there is a way to bypass it by using a crack)...

  24. EA Releases Tool To Bypass SecuROM Limitations http://kotaku.com/5192830/ea-releases-tool...rom-limitations
  25. I have found Mass effect for 15 euros at my local store but I am not sure if I should buy it because of the DRM. Is there a way to bypass the 3 activations? I have downloaded a crack from the web but I am not sure if it will prevent the game from using up activations every time I am installing it. Should I wait for a newer edition of the game where it won't have DRM (it seems that EA has given up all this silliness)?
