  1. Why don't they use the Mystary engine (the one used for the Van Burren and Jefferson projects)? It features 3D isometric graphics and I am sure people would love to play with such an engine. I just wonder who got the rights to it... Interplay? Or has Obsidian bought it as well (along with concept art and such)?
  2. Let them do whatever they want. There's no way I am giving them my money for that crap. Actually, it would be great if people slowly started giving up video games and started playing board games just like in the old times...
  3. You may be right, but don't expect us to buy games from companies that have no consideration for their customers. Treating us like pirates and shutting our mouths when we "speak ill" of them is not helping either. Look at CDP and what they did to The Witcher. Now, that's what I call professionalism. Same for Bioware which kept releasing patches even 5 years after the release of the original NWN. Such moves make me appreciate them and buy their games so as to help them keep going.
  4. it's good that Atari have fans like you, Vol, to defend their bottom line. Volourn just likes to contradict whatever everyone has to say...
  5. Who gives a crap about NHL anyway? Hockey is not that much popular here in Europe anyway... People here usually play the FIFA and NBA Live series... Both made by EA... But these brands are always sure to be successful...
  6. Emails are easy to ignore which is not the case of public forums where everyone can read your thoughts and learn what problems you have met with EA's software.
  7. I really cannot believe this! These guys try to silence their customers on the DRM issue! In other words, they don't give a crap about the complaints from people who have actually paid to play their games. It is the duty of every producer/distributor to listen to what their customers have to say so as improve their product satisfaction and incite them to buy more games in the future. EA is doing exactly the opposite! Moreover, these very same customers run the risk of losing their registration and may need to buy a new copy of the game (Spore)! That's it for me! I don't care about games made by EA (and BIO, if they decide to put DRM in Dragon Age). I like games but they are not a vital part in my life. I will just replay some of my older ones (which are A LOT better than the newer ones by the way) and I will be able to save my money for something else... I can understand that it is EA's right to decide on which terms their software is going to be used. I simply disagree with those terms and therefore refuse to buy their games. Buying a game is like a contract: you either agree to its terms or not. The answer is obvious to me: there is absolutely NO WAY that I am going to buy a game that only allows for 3 installations! I have uninstalled and re-installed each of the games I own at least 5 times. Links: http://www.rpgcodex.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=26564 http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/3869.page
  8. I do believe that SoZ will be the last expansion for NWN2. There may be some more premium modules and that's it... I don't know why but it must be some kind of marketing thing. There are rarely more than 2 expansions for a given game. That's probably because the more time passes, the more the engine used ages... Producers/Distributors also tend to to move on to newer technologies after exploiting a specific engine for a few years because they believe they have to compete against other products that use these new technologies. It's a shame the industry works like that because I wouldn't have minded, even today, playing another game with the IE engine or playing a game with Mystary engine (the one used in the old Fallout 3 and TBH) even though those are outdated by today's standards...
  9. Exactly my thought. The NWN2 engine is still viable...
  10. Yes, I know there are multiple ways to continue the Bhaalspawn saga: a war among the gods, the main character loses all his powers and starts over again (just to name a few...) but I wouldn't be interested to play with the same protagonist from the original BG games. I want something fresh and new...
  11. And the BG saga is over. Either make some kind of loosely connected prequel (as they originally planned to do) or start a new game within the city of Baldur's Gate...
  12. I would HATE to see TBH turn into a 4E project!!!
  13. I have watched the videos and I really like what I have seen so far. It looks as if Bioware has gathered up all its experience into one single game. I see a lot of similarities with BG and KOTOR (the gameplay that is). I like the fantasy setting as well, so I don't have any specific complaints. I just hope that the DRM won't ruin such a good game...
  14. Meh.
  15. From wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Witcher_(video_game) At GDC 2008, CDProjekt announced an enhanced version of the game which is to be released on September 16, 2008. The significant changes featured in the enhanced version are over 200 new animations, additional NPC models and recoloring of generic NPC models as well as monsters, vastly expanded and corrected dialogues in translated versions, improved stability, and load times reduced by roughly 80%.[28][29][30] In addition all bugs are said to be fixed and the game manual completely overhauled. There are also two new adventures available for players to play through called Side Effects and The Price of Neutrality. A new option is to mix and match 8 different languages of voice and subtitles. For instance, players can now choose to play the game with Polish voices and English subtitles. Aside from the game enhancements, the box of The Witcher Enhanced Edition will contain a "making of"-DVD, a CD with 29 official in game soundtracks, another CD with "Inspired by" soundtracks and music, a book with the short story The Witcher, from the book The Last Wish, a map of Temeria printed on high quality paper, an overhauled game manual, and the official strategy guide. In addition, the D'jinni Adventure Editor in a complete new and enhanced version will also be on the DVD with the two new Adventures. The game updates, as well as the box's extras, will be available as a free download for owners of the original version who registered their game on the official forum. The update itself (Patch, 2 Adventures, Main language version) will be 2 GB in size, with 400-600MB for each additional language version. Furthermore, old savegames are compatible with the Enhanced Edition.
  16. I am planning on buying it next week but I would first like to hear some impressions...
  17. I will hate Bio (and EA) with passion if they ever decide to add DRM to Dragon Age It will really be a shame since BIO is my favorite game developer alongside with Obsidian...
  18. Do you think EA's policy will affect Bioware in any fashion? If people, like us, stop buying their games, Bio will be obliged to shut its doors, no?
  19. Not unless you're Volo. Starwars doesnt have any dragons, elves or magic items that have to be transported large distances only or assembled in order to defeat a villain Star Wars HAS dragons: remember the Kray Dragon (or whatever it was called) in Kotor? Star Wars has a variety of races that is as rich as D&D. The Twilek race could be considered for example the equivalent of the elf race... Instead of having magic items, Star Wars has items improved by either crystals or by technology... No big difference here as well...
  20. So, has anyone managed to find a way to bypass Mass Effect's DRM? Is there a crack that does that?
  21. If this kills EA, Bioware will go down with it... Why did they have to merge? I hate the idea of not being able to play Dragon Age...
  22. Bye bye bioware...
  23. You know, I have a very BAD feeling concerning BIO's future. I love that company's game and I have been a loyal consumer up to recently. I was about to buy Mass Effect for the PC until I heard about this DRM thing. Thus, I am not buying the game (even if I would love to) till they remove it in some later edition. Now, I am very afraid they will do the same with Dragon Age. I have been waiting patiently for that game for 4+ years. I like everything I have read and seen about it and I have the suspicion I will never be able to play this game. It's just a matter of principle for me. I refuse to buy a game that limits the number of installation I have. I like to tweak with Ini files and other files and it has been many times where I have re-installed the game twice or thrice in the same day. I have always bought original copies of BIO's games and I hate being treated as a pirate. I wish to have "full" control over what I can do with my copy of the game. I have heard that NWN 2 uses Securom: does this work the same way as Mass effect or is it different? I have heard different people encountering problems with it. Concerning Mass Effect, is it possible to bypass the Securom limitations with some kind of crack? I really want to buy this game but this will only happen if there is a way to get rid of this DRM thing... Bye Bye Bioware... I really liked you as a producer and always tried to support you by buying your games...
  24. any news?
