Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Part 2
Gromnir replied to Amentep's topic in Computer and Console
spontaneous casters has meta spells turned into full round actions, so there is a downside particular if you plan to exploit sorcerous reflex mythic. however, if you wanna have scorching rays and hellfire rays at pretty much every level, then heighten is a good ember option, but likely the only good metamagic option. use rods for every other metamagic need. is an act 3 crusade relic which lets you maximize six spells a day, which is kinda keen. don't let the unholy aspect concern you as demons n' such take damage from unholy. and then there is the late game grandmaster rod, but such is act v, so is hardly the kinda thing 'pon which you build a character. ... ember is a sore subject for us as she has the blackened curse, which is arguable her best feature. irony? the problem is blackened curse is still bugged and so most o' the oracle builds we has considered is on hold until blackened actual provides something other than just burning hands and an attack malus for a player character. as to metamagic, depending on how you build nenio, heighten is pure gold. ... y'know, for nenio we just use rods too, save for heighten, and maybe persistent... and then mostly for phantasmal killer. so, metamagic is key only if you go full illusion for nenio 'cause you want the dc for pk and weird as high as you can get it. 'course you can multi nenio into an evocation-based acrane trickster blaster who puts ember to shame using heightened hellfire rays n' such. our current build problem is fact our angel inquisitor ended up being so good. loads o' skills and ended up doing reliable +800 damage per round during boss encounters even w/o crits. anything we play from this point save a couple pure cheez builds is gonna feel serious underpowered. HA! Good Fun! -

bolster is current gonna cause friendly fire splash w/o zippy. if scorching ray were annoying, am gonna suggest not using magic missile. the damage calculations are (were) busted and the splash damage were devastating to friends and foes alike. we were seeing +120 damage from magic missile using a mere second level bolstered slot. am s'posing using the grandmaster rod would only make matters worse. but again, the splash damage were a party killer, so... also, the bug where loremaster free feats ignored prerequisites remains and is now worse 'cause you are able to choose trickster feats. HA! Good Fun! -

mythic weapon finesse is no longer working with ranged weapons, but it still provides bonuses when using glaives, great swords and every melee weapon we tested. HA! Good Fun! -
is the best holiday. yeah, the celebration has religious roots, but as celebrated in us it is almost entire secular---nowhere near the religious baggage that exists for christmas or easter. is not 'bout patriotism or celebrating a cultural icon who likely ain't the hero you were taught to admire in school. on halloween, kids dress up in costumes, pretend to be sooperheroes or monsters or whatever, and then neighbors, many o' whom the kids has never met or spoken to, give the costumed kids candy... or a small box o' raisins if the neighbors is jerks. if it weren't for the fact so many pets is tormented and abused by little psychopaths on halloween... HA! Good Fun! ps a few people getting their house tp'd is a small price to pay for general halloween goodness.

is not as if there is a california weather. bay area and sacramento is not distant, but weather, particular during summer, is considerable different. similar, a short trip to the east o' sacramento has you in the sierra nevadas, which receive, during ordinary years, considerable snow. in fact, the first snow o' the year in our part o' the sierras occurred a couple weeks past. 'course you weren't scarred. converse, not being able to endure the ordinary and everyday competition o' adult life mighta' scarred you. first team on your high school football team is the gifted program for football players. those players get more attention from coaches. more coaching and more opportunities to make plays means a better chance to get recruited by power conference d-1 programs, and the cycle only continues and becomes more savage. we mention 'cause we find amusing hurl actual used an nfl team as an example to support his position-- the worst player on the 49ers had to survive years o' the most bitter and unforgiving competition simple to make an nfl team. most real world jobs involve competition, although not to the degree a pro football player had to overcome. a minor ankle sprain limited your participation during spring practice o' your sophomore year at usc or alabama, and that were enough to prevent you from ever being a starter? didn't start in spite o' being all-everything in high school and chances you get drafted by the nfl is approaching zero? not fair? is real. am fine with hurl pov as he is teaching middle schoolers, but at some point we are not helping kids by sheltering 'em from real world brutal. yeah, as an educator hurl should be more concerned with actual educating kids in subject matter as 'posed to shattering their illusions, and is not much evidence the gifted programs produce smarter students. if you start with high achieving kids, is not exact a surprise those kids end up achieving at a greater rate, yes? the results o' gifted programs is dubious, but am also recognizing educators got blind spots, and they selective ignore how they themselves teach math classes. at some point in high school, kids who didn't achieve in math are taught separate from the kids who did. and guess what, the kids taking calculus in high school is more likely to attend college than are the students taking remedial maths. no doubt we waste a great deal o' human capital by stressing competition as 'posed to maximizing potential o' everybody. tragic. unfortunate, until hurl manages to alter society as a whole, he is stuck educating kids many o' whom is going to eventual join a workforce where the jobs which offer the best compensation also require competition which far exceeds whatever you experienced on your math team. "at all." hilor does not offer a respec option. period. can hire a merc. can discuss nightspinner. can't ask for training for you or party mates. HA! Good Fun! ps checked in both act ii and act v. did not check i, iii, or iv... although iv wouldn't be hilor. pps according to owclat community feedback (not a developer, never a developer) respec were never intended for core and above, and Gromnir were testing on core. removing respec were considered a bug fix. -

act v battles got sooper ez 'cause o' mage power and that one crusade ability which allows you to multiply random army units by some formula involving your mythic level. make certain to split off your favoured range unit so is the only kinda unit in a specific army and then every couple o' weeks you are able to add almost 400 marksmen... or whatevers. we specific don't do that. jefferson, for example, were highly educated and as such his exposure to questions o' racial equality were different in kind and quality compared to george washington. men. human beings. individuals. am not thinking americans got some kinda monopoly on mythologizing historical heroes and villains, but am gonna admit we got far too many who do not have any awareness that waht is being taught in schools and with monuments and national symbols is mythology and the current knee-jerk defense o' one end o' the political spectrum perpetuating the mythology is unfortunate and self-serving, 'cause like jefferson, many o' the most public recognizable folks pushing the mythology is self-aware and not ignorant rubes. fixed jefferson were an eloquent and educated man who were a major contributor in the creation o' what would become modern democracy. he were also petty and bigoted and am willing to bet he had bo and bad breath. "cancel," whatever that means, is often an overreaction but am recognizing the mythologizing o' historic figures is making the zealous efforts to find and highlight flaws is kinda predictable and perhaps even admirable on some level. if the initial teaching were more balanced and nuanced, more real, then there wouldn't be so many people decrying the "lies" and "falsehoods" which has become ingrained in the national mythology. the founders weren't saints. individually the founders were self-interested men with unique character flaws (sometimes amusing flaws, but all too often terrible flaws) who thought they could do better not only for themselves but for their country. for our azata run, am happy to see ode to miraculous magic has been addressed, but if the list is comprehensive, then there is still multiple azata broken features. also, it looks like a few fixes is not so much fixes as is owlcat changing the in-game description to match what is busted. well, is a start, and is kinda a month late to admit game is still functional in beta, but truth-to-tell, given state o' kingmaker at a similar point, and recognizing how the beta played mere weeks before wotr release, am actual pleasant surprised with the current state o' wotr. would be nice if we could get feedback from owlcat to let us know they is aware o' and/or working on particular issues, but am guessing that ain't gonna happen. HA! Good Fun! -
being faithful to source material is not always a positive. is worth noting cowboy bebop is one o' the few anime series we genuine like, though am admitting a few select episodes were kinda terrible. as such, particular given the casting, we were looking forward to this tv adaptation. unfortunate, am now anticipating in the same way is near impossible to look away from an impending car crash. ... am knowing some folks are gonna love this no matter what, but the trailer comes across more like an effort to mock cowboy bebop than to sell it. HA! Good Fun!

enigma is so... unnecessary. it functional duplicates, in the worst ways possible, a similar multi-step puzzle quest also in the game involving the same final bad guy (used gender neutral). coulda' integrated nenio into the other quest seamlessly and avoided considerable repetition while at same time reducing the overall soul numbing tedium. but what genuine shocks us a bit is that owlcat, seeming in response to numerous player comments regarding enigma frustration, has decided to make enigma more integral to a complete run o' wotr. can't fix a perceived problem, so solution is to make certain more people will need experience the aforementioned frustration? ... wait, what? HA! Good Fun! ps with the beta update, areelu's cloak still does nothing for an angel character, and am having an issue with animal companions in tb combat as they are getting stuck during movement and/or simple not attacking at end of a move in spite o' having capacity to do so. however, when we loaded a game, we instant got 'bout eight new items added to inventory-- all those crusade battle rewards which mysteriously disappeared. -

am most concerned with boss fights. almost every build we consider is specific tailored to the double handful o' improbable bloated boss fights and disproportionate difficult optional "achievement" fights. nobody comes to this board or owlcat forums with reflections 'cause they were having difficulty with a random mob o' vrocks or some such. demon lords and similar are infrequent immune to mind-affecting. go figure. however, baphomet and deskari on even core is gonna require at least an 80 for your intimidation check. an inquisitor with a level o' thug, or a dirge bard build gets us where we need to be if we wanna be confident in producing shaken and we may even achieve frightened. best intimidator we has come up with so far is an inquisitor (and a few other odds and ends) with acolyte background and high strength + decent boosted wisdom, and even that build with moss pottage meal is not 100% guaranteed to intimidate playful darkness when you first encounter or deskari in iz. seelah, sosiel and is arguable the best companions for intimidation, with sosiel our choice as the genuine winner... if you are willing to sacrifice a cleric caster level. taking a level o' thug feels like a handicap for sosiel, even if it makes practical sense. the priest has the right background for intimidation and with the intimidating presence feat along with spells such as righteous might and frightening presence, you are able to boost his strength modifier to match almost any other companion in the game. a couple build-specific feat choices and sosiel, the priest o' shelyn, improbable becomes the ultimate companion intimidator... at least such is our opinion. HA! Good Fun! ps aside, the rumored companion -

patch notes is weird. with our zen archer/sacred huntsmaster, who is/were nowhere near cl 28, we did rest right after achieving mythic ten and we used the spells before/during the last three fights o' the game. our finishing o' the game and use o' the spells was post final patch. cl 28 is extreme late. keep in mind, we did the 3/17 zen archer/spirit hunter for the angel with mythic 9 ('cause am not using toybox or similar, but we did respec w/i game) and that got us to cl 26, which makes sense-- 17 +9. we were able to view level 10 spells, but if we ain't s'posed to be able to use 'em, on that build, evar, would be kinda disappointing. as aside, we did finish the game and the final three battles (technical, there were four battles, but one did not include our mc) were indeed on the ez side. as a matter o' fact, the big boss, if not the ultimate boss, had combat end following an intimidation/diplomacy check option, which were implemented kinda awkward. felt like we had missed something. whatever. oh, and gonna do a second run as an azata, likely the gnome fey speaker we mentioned. the thing is, we got an idea for an intimidator tank, but it just don't fit in our anticipated party, even as a merc. is pure cheez: one level nature oracle and one level scaled fist for the double charisma buff to ac which should not be possible in a pathfinder game. use an assimar who goes dirge bard for remaining seventeen o' eighteen levels... add one level o' loremaster. mostly charisma but am starting with 18 str to take advantage o' intimidating prowess. tested and am able to achieve a +79 modifier on intimidation checks at level 20, but might be able to do slight better. am getting greater vital strike from the one level o' loremaster. maybe too much cheez. HA! Good Fun! -
internet tells us the books average +800 pages, and there are fourteen of 'em. if those weekends you spend on wot is spent literal do nothing but reading wot, then maybe a "few." HA! Good Fun!

keep in mind am not addressing quality per se. if jesus showed up at simon and schuster tomorrow and offered 'em his personal twelve volume dissertation on christianity, with each volume far exceeding 300 pages, am suspecting the editors would try and encourage the son of God to condense things a smidge, and if the set were published as-is, how many christians would then lie 'bout having actual read the whole set? am recognizing the wot series were released over a considerable period o' time, but at some point the ordinary reader had to feel like they were being punk'd, no? HA! Good Fun!

not sure if is a respec specific issue, but while it would appear druids (but not feyspeakers) and shamans may merge spellbooks with angel (not possible options during the beta,) the merging is a bit sketchy. for example, a zen archer/spirit hunter shaman with angel we resepc'd from a level 20 zen archer/sacred huntsmaster/demonslayer had a merged spellbook and a caster level o' 26, but for spell levels four, five and seven, only angel spells were in the spellbook. a drovier druid had similar (but not identical) non accessible druid spell levels. am aware respec remains buggy, so is quite possible the wonky spellbook merging for shamans and druids is not an issue save for when attempting to create such a character via respec. am also gonna hypothesize the reason for feyspeaker incompatibility is less a matter o' respec and more a matter o' the unique charisma-based casting for feyspeakers. HA! Good Fun! -
you managed to finish at least a dozen o' the books? you have earned the option to call 'em anything you damn well please. as far as am concerned, the jordan estate and the book publisher should dedicate a scholarship in your name, and those like you, for the courage and fortitude you displayed when facing improbable odds. HA! Good Fun!

hadn't played since wednesday, but earlier today we did the threshold content up to the point where we achieved mythic ten, which were kinda anticlimactic as we would ordinarily have added the heavenly host sword of heaven power for our upcoming finale, but seeing as how that feature is bugged and not working... *sigh* we did get access to mythic ten spells, which might be interesting, but am not certain if there is a rest opportunity so we might memorize the groovy spells. maybe tomorrow we finish. maybe. our next wotr game is current planned to be a quirky build, but am wondering if is better to be waiting for a few azata features to get fixed. gonna go azata and do a gnome feyspeaker druid. won't be able to get weird, but every other decent illusionist spell will be accessible and we should be able to achieve impressive dc checks for those as well as evocation spells. is gonna be lighter on teamwork feats than we would like, but am not seeing a good way around that issue. is a few items which is usable only by spontaneous casters and is making us consider sylvan sorcerer, but our skill points with such a character would be atrocious. oracle with nature mystery similar gets us much o' the stuff we want, but it wouldn't be an illusionist build. choices. still gotta find missing resolve and screw our courage to the sticking place if am gonna finish our first run before halloween. HA! Good Fun!
