  1. other than inherent immunity to fear, nothing provided a reliable defense to the vavakia vanguard's intimidation check. paladins and undead were unaffected, and am s'posing if you had a sooper high wisdom your dc would be too great to be affected by the fear effect, but the intimidation check were not subject to a will save or sr or pretty much any magic defense. is any number o' spells and defenses which grant total and complete immunity to fear, and the mind blank effect of army of heaven were one such spell which were ineffectual gainst the vanguards. if army of heaven works post patch, is likely mind blank works as well, but we would need test such. no good reason why army of heaven would work but mind blank wouldn't, but such simple logic is frequent a flawed guide when discerning the behaviour o' what would appear to be a bug. HA! Good Fun! ps our tactic were/is to fear-lock the vavakia(s) before it(they) could do the same to our party. only a couple o' 'em in the game, but as with so many such brutes, intimidation works 'gainst 'em. 'course the vagaries o' rng could result in us losing imitative with our chosen intimidator and such were the case in our laughing caves encounter on our angel run. had virtual our entire party panicked, but managed to survive even so with a near party wipe. nevertheless were a "wtf" encounter and so we replayed a few times to figure out just what were happening. thought we were prepared for the threshold encounter then the balor hit us with a chain lightning blast which did 254 damage on a successful save with both protection and resist electricity active. wtf. pps we initial played battles on core, then went back and played on hard.
  2. *nods* tavor x95 is sexier. HA! Good Fun!
  3. last time we saw mass media wrestling which interested us and were not ncaa or olympic were when louden swain and brian shute met. HA! Good Fun!
  4. keep in mind that in spite o' the bad history repeated by more than a few boardies, there were a time not so long ago when conservatives and the nra were in favour of gun control legislation. HA! Good Fun!
  5. am suspecting almost nobody has died or been serious injured as a direct result o' mishandling a skirt or a wardrobe malfunction due to shortness o' the apparel. neither wearing a skirt or carrying an ar-15 is a valid invitation for violence, but such an observation is red herring material. HA! Good Fun!
  6. you mean other than the recent Presidential election, yes? oh, and biden got an infrastructure deal passed during the first year o' his Presidency, which is a bit quicker than trump managed, seeing as how he never managed to do so in spite o' there being bipartisan support for such legislation as well as republican majorities in the house and senate during the first two years trump were in office. have mentioned previous am not a biden fan, but the conservative fascination with trump is kinda mind boggling. the guy were a c-list celebrity (but a world class grifter) who managed to get himself into near a trillion dollars in debt before deutschebank bailed him out. nevertheless, trump campaigned on fear o' foreigners and promised an impossible renaissance for the rust belt and somehow with the help o' right-wing media, he became the self appointed high priest in a manufactured religious war 'tween conservatives and liberals... american liberals is, compared to most o' the world's democracies, pretty freaking conservative. the trump campaign saw frequent and public violations o' the rule o' law, and all those diehard anti government patriots who screamed that they needed their guns to protect themselves from government watched impotent or cheered active as trump gutted the Constitution. am suspecting that selling fear was enough to buy the loyalty o' many conservatives, and the rest were embarrassingly complicit. btw, rittenhouse most assured was NOT "legally carrying a gun." might wanna check the facts on that. regardless, you are conflating separate issues. if rittenhouse had been legal carrying a gun, would it have made him more sympathetic? we keep trying to drive this point home, but there is a big difference 'tween legal and right. procure an ar-15 so you may cross state lines to confront protesters while brandishing your firearm is in fact legal in many places and in many situations in the US. 2nd amendment and local ordinances make such behaviour legal, though again, such were not the case for rittenhouse. again, being "legal" doesn't make a behaviour more reasonable and less reckless. is no excuse for violence and fact rittenhouse were a derpy teen and a world-class dolt doesn't mean is ok that he should be subject to violence by civilians or cops or federal agents in unmarked white vans. so what? am able to decry violence AND recognize rittenhouse for the unsympathetic yutz he is and anybody shocked a clown like him with an ar-15 ended up in a bad situation is either a fool or lying. whether rittenhouse loses liberty for the shootings is gonna be separate from the illegal weapon charges he is facing, but such don't make much difference when considering whether or not rittenhouse is a shmuck. both left and right should be condemning the punk 'cause take your weapon to confront protesters is not the kinda thing reasonable people who is being complete honest is gonna claim is reasonable behaviour. dumb. foolish. reckless. etc. however, if dumb, foolish and reckless were the kinda thing which were making a person subject to criminalization, there would be more people in prison than not. HA! Good Fun!
  7. fixed. is not just a rando guy. is not a conservative radio host. is not a televangelist. this guy were promoted over and over and over again. tell us nobody ever noticed his extremist views? is possible he were smart enough to be cagey for decades, but given how erratic he has been in retirement, is hard to imagine that flynn fooled all his superiors in the army.
  8. our recollection is the tavern battle ends when two objectives is completed: you will continue to get waves o' attackers until objectives is complete. HA! Good Fun!
  9. gotta admit, our first reaction were, "wtf?" ... then we kinda reflected and thought 'bout saving private ryan and we realized no other poster came anywhere near to capturing what am believing spielberg were trying to say. HA! Good Fun!
  10. am not sure if we got a favorite drew struzan poster, but for some reason we insta thought o' the russian star wars movie poster, though not 'cause it was great or anything we do recall a few fantastic polish offerings. am thinking the polish saving private ryan might be top three for us. polish blade runner, apocalypse now and the birds are also kinda kewl. HA! Good Fun!
  11. am not really looking for "best blaster," and have already mentioned the shortcomings o' metamagic feats + spontaneous casters earlier in this thread. the goal for our build were a charisma-based caster which thematically we could fit with azata. a gnome feyspeaker were perfect and a bit ridiculous. ideal. is where we got the idea for sosiel as we were planning to make our feyspeaker take one level o' crossblood sorc to take advantage o' ice powhaz. we also had plans for a nature oracle, but those were bugged. so sorc it is. heck, we went human for the bonus skill points even though half-elf with the charisma boost heritage were the obvious choice. "best" weren't the goal. am quite willing to settle for highly effective. is a few bardish builds which we considered for an azata run but skalds are still kinda wonky and the court poet in particular, while useful, felt a bit emasculated after the big patch/nerf, and is not as if it were sooper powerful before the nerf. owlcat noticed features weren't working for the court poet so it looks like instead o' trying to fix, they simply changed the court poet description to match the broken status... while also removing rage stances. *shrug* if am doing court poet is probable as levels tacked onto seelah. bard songs is kinda replicated with azata, so a significant feature o' the path gets wasted a bit on a bard. a dirge bard intimidator is incredible effective in wotr. am genuine a bit surprised we don't see more people glomping onto intimidation builds save for recognition that support classes is never particular popular, and dirge bard doesn't exact have a natural thematic mesh with azata anyway... 'though all it takes is a little imagination to explain such curiosities. HA! Good Fun! ps on our azata run we got lann doing the three levels o' zen + divine hunter... and possible one level o' demonslayer at some point. ordinarily is dogs, wolves and leopards exclusive for our animal companion classes, but the velociraptor has a charisma of fourteen... because? whatever. a celestial divine hunter animal companion gets smite evil once per day, and smite stacks with everything. so if we got seelah eventual taking eight levels o' court poet, and we stick a +4 or +6 charisma boosting item on lann's velociraptor, in boss battles the little dino is gonna be kinda impressive and utter ridiculous. win.
  12. spontaneous casters get all the good stuff. is one reason why our second choice for azata were gonna be an oracle, but the blackened curse was (is?) bugged. nevertheless, there is a ring which allows you to cast all the best offensive fire spells... if you are a spontaneous caster. there is also bracers which allow you to cast all the best electricity spells... if you are a spontaneous caster. the fire spell ring is available kinda earlyish, and the bracers is chapter three in what were a difficult area before recent patches. am actual going hard for ice spells with our current (extreme slow) azata sorcerer run as the feyspeaker we were envisioning and shadow spells in general is busted at the moment resulting in a fubar intended concept... and as we noted, oracle weren't working neither, though am admitting oracle woulda' been fine even w/o blackened. therefore am going with our third choice which is the not the least bit unique sorc/arcane trickster. also, am taking one level o' crossblood sorcerer (silver dragon and water) for sosiel which sounds odd, but there is an azata spell which makes foes vulnerable to cold, so sosiel with the white dragon armour and the relic shield which buffs ice spells is actual decent as more than a dedicated healbot and buffer late game. the white dragon armour woulda' been perfect for our druid build, but oh well. while am not the aivu fan some people appear to be, azata does a fair job with providing whimsical and good options. there is a few azata path relevant characters and quests which we wish woulda' been better developed, but relative speaking the highpoints for azata is solid compared to the other wotr options. additional, am thinking part o' the reason why azata gets general approval is in part due to the wotr alignment system, as curious as such sounds. an angel character who selects "good" every single dialog is gonna shift to neutral good and away from lawful, so you frequent choose the lawful choice. wotr lawful is functional, "what would regill do in this situation?" paladin makes the good choice every time and falls from grace. is also nothing particular clever or surprising with angel-- is by the numbers heroic fantasy stuff. the evil mythic paths suffer from the usual crpg problem regarding the need to make evil options insular. oh sure, bill gates may be as evil as they come, but is not as if he kicks puppies whenever he gets the chance. crpg evil is usual a bit cartoonish and wotr is hardly providing a creative or unique approach to crpg evil. azata is nothing special, but it don't punish you for playing your character and it has a handful o' genuine chuckleworthy moments. HA! Good Fun! is ~2:00am pst and am getting a 2.4gb update, but not patch notes are available via steam or owlcat at this time.
  13. we never commented on the law aspect o' this 'cause, as we always caution, what you don't know has an excellent chance o' making you look like an idjit if you start drawing conclusions based on what you believe to be true. you folks is no doubt bored o' our repetition on this point, but am gonna once again observe how is always best to wait for facts to come out which may be relevant. however, if a seventeen-year-old illegal acquires a lethal weapon and crosses state lines with the implied (and expressed) intent o' confronting protesters, some o' whom he had to have known could also be armed with lethal weapons, is anybody shocked when the news related to such a story is gonna involve bloodshed? call accident or tragedy ignores how utter predictable is calamity when you add firearms, multiple angry people and a large dose o' stupid. for chrissakes, even @Guard Dog wasn't defending the common sense and reasonableness o' kyle rittenhouse. were never any facts which were gonna come to light which somehow dispelled the recklessness o' kyle rittenhouse. were no facts which revealed were gonna make us more sympathetic save possible discovering kyle were severe mental/emotional impaired and responsible adults encouraged his behaviour as 'posed to discouraged, but that were never the narrative. doesn't matter if the would-be vigilante is guilty or innocent as a matter o' law. the kid is an a-hole who displayed worst possible judgement. is another observation we make frequent regarding people confusing legal with concepts such as moral, justice or right. legal exoneration is not transformative. a bad person does not sudden become admirable 'cause o' an acquittal. less common but still possible is for the moral and right choice to lead to legal punishment. too many people is invested in court verdicts as if such is some kinda barometer o' rightness. bad cop going to prison proves he were bad? if kyle goes free it proves the libs were wrong 'bout the unnecessary dangers o' armed civilian militias confronting protesters? we were never interested in this case 'cause it didn't matter to us. we didn't need for kyle to go to prison as if such would be vindication o' protests. samewise we don't fear acquittal will make mr. rittenhouse less... douchey. seeing as how there is no particular unique or compelling question o' law involved in the case, am current disinterested save for our general disquiet regarding how a derpy punk could become symbolic or emblematic o' a political movement. HA! Good Fun!
  14. should who has control o' Congress matter? if were a tornado that hit the Capitol on January 6 and hundreds o' police officers and civilians were injured, some serious, there would be investigations. nevertheless, 'cause is deemed political and potential embarrassing to one party, the fate o' investigations dependent on a small number o' votes in a handful o' states? more remote but still concerning, why should criminal investigations stop for trump if he gets reelected? is nothing actual in the Constitution which says such, but from a practical pov, is not deemed advisable to have a criminal trial o' a sitting President. so trump gets away with anything and everything based on the votes o' the electorate? potential a few thousand votes in a couple states decides guilt or innocence? is exact what the founders were trying to avoid when they s-canned athenian democracy as the model for the Constitution. your question is irrelevant to our observation, or it should be. edit: this has so not been a they are all the same scenario. HA! Good Fun!
  15. for those unaware, trump keeps losing court cases, the latest o' which is dealing with the extent to which o' a President no longer in office may exercise executive privilege. ouchie. HA! Good Fun! ps am thinking is likely trump never thought he would win this or other cases, particular with the d-list attorneys he has representing him at the moment. this is all 'bout delay. IF trump is able to stretch out the process long enough for republicans to take back control o' Congress, then is a functional win for trump even if he loses every case.
  16. well that must be miserable for her-- sick and alone in an er. hopefully she didn't need wait for some nightmarish stretch of time, but that is almost unavoidable. no doubt as bad as you feel you wish you could be with her, but please know your wife has our sincere sympathy and our best wishes. you also need to get better so you can take care of your son and once she comes home, your wife. as such am much wishing you well and am hoping for a speedy recovery for you and yours. regardless, take care, and try not to feel guilty about getting rest and taking care of your self.
  17. there aren't a myriad o' good reasons. there is a small list o' valid concerns, but the numbers o' reasons is extreme limited and 'course for those folks am complete understanding the concerns. however, for the folks who cannot get the vaccine or who have valid reasons for abstaining from the vaccine, chances are they is avoiding unnecessary social contact o' their own volition, and if they aren't, then chances are the "abject stoopid" label is once again applicable. is also people who is just plain afraid o' the vaccine. am actual fine with that situation. the thing is, if those afraid o' the vaccine wants to behave same as they were vaccinated, then once again, "abject stoopid" label is getting used w/o guilt. tough to avoid the stoopid label if is an issue o' "hanging out" with such persons, as much you as the unvaccinated. @ShadySands good luck and take care of your family. HA! Good Fun!
  18. am having the luxury o' being able to choose to not "hang out" with abject stoopid people. unfortunate, as @ShadySands is no doubt painful aware, a caveat to the aforementioned is the family exception. sure, we could still make a hard choice regarding obtuse family members, and we has in fact done so in some situations, but is a different calculus when dealing with family. on the positive side (kinda sorta), given a few health issues we got which make us more susceptible to covid, the recognition by all our relatives that our family has a few monstrous stoopid members is providing us with a good excuse for not attending family gatherings we otherwise wish to avoid, but is not a guaranteed get out of jail free card. am told aunt ________ is 86 and this may be the last holiday season she will have a chance to be with the entire family. *groan* is true, but two years ago she were 84 and same leverage were used to emotional blackmail us into doing the family holiday bit. still haven't gotten our covid booster. should be receiving it in the next week or so. am nevertheless serious considering purposeful delay so we got an excuse to opt out o' this season's family holiday gatherings. perhaps we won't be able to get our booster until mid january? HA! Good Fun!
  19. am not gonna get snarky 'bout the (not)magnitude o' the list o' fixes... other than the implication inherent in our observation. HA! Good Fun!
  20. is not the least bit probable biden engineered the international effort to get shokin removed, unless you work kinda hard to convince self o' such stoopid. is not even a likely reason why biden, if he were indeed corrupt and attempting to help his son by doing a dr. mesmer on the european community and the US state department, would want to have the corrupt shokin removed from a case he were not making efforts to investigate. the idea being that burisma were somehow relieved to hear that shokin were being replaced with a less easily manipulated prosecutor who would be facing constant international scrutiny? serious? as for the painting, is a good thing a guy like hunter weren't elected to office, 'cause somebody who would take gifts/bribes and dole out political favours in return would be too much to bear... though you were indifferent to such for four years because such didn't matter. is not like the hunter painting thing were done sneaky. were only an issue because there were the slimmest and most remote possibility o' showing some taint o' joe biden. *chuckle* am having no idea who bought the damned painting, but the one person you may guarantee will never get a favour from the biden administration is the person who did purchase. but yeah, no single vote matters in a national election, which is why nobody should ever vote. ... wait, that makes no sense whatsoever. duh. HA! Good Fun! ps am gonna observe hunter is indeed a problem for joe biden. hunter has made questionable life choices. is it possible, particular given biden family history that joe biden could be blackmailed to protect his son? dunno, but we wouldn't dismiss such a query outta hand. the thing is, the stuff with the painting, which am betting were nothing but a headache and a source o' irritation for joe and the administration as 'posed to the kinda thing which results in favours, were done extreme public; no possibility o' blackmail. once again, gd sees corruption 'cause he needs to see to excuse his willful indifference.
  21. am thinking he is doing a fair job o' identifying the polarizing extremism o' so many americans coupled with the curious self-serving and delusional indifference o' those others who justified their indolence and apathy in spite o' each new trump excess being broadcast daily. perhaps make you feel better to know you were hardly alone. how many others has been proclaiming each new improbable to be qq worthy fake news and nothing burger fodder? HA! Good Fun!
  22. ... so strange. during his presidency, trump did illegal over and over and over again. go back through our old posts and reference how many times we observed that trump were doing were illegal, but that nobody were stopping him. doesn't matter if something is technical illegal if there is no way to stop save with impeachment and trial conviction. sometimes it feels like a majority o' people were not paying attention during the four years o' the trump Presidency. HA! Good Fun!
  23. bruce, it happened at the US freaking Capitol, while Congressmen and the Vice President were present, and vulnerable. there were an effort, admitted disorganized, to prevent the peaceful transfer of power from 45 to 46. quixotic, unlike any riot we might care to analogize, this one had an actual authority figure, but ultimately that authority figure were simultaneous under a duty to protect and defend those persons and the institution under attack? trump not only instigated the insurrection, but he refused to take action to defend the Constitution, Congressmen, police officers and civilians at the Capitol that day. so not like any other US protest in living memory. "what if Pence,"... and is multiple nightmare inducing ways to end that query. what if a Congressman had been killed? what if the situation had escalated and Trump had declared martial law? what if... the fact you and others frequenting this board do not recognize the significance o' January 6, do not realize just how unprecedented were the events o' the day and just how easily the outcome coulda' been worse but for luck and the actions o' a handful o' people, is... disquieting. aside: anybody who ever used TDS w/o being ironic previous to january 6 should be embarrassed and they deserve whatever ridicule and mockery is heaped 'pon them. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/interactive/2021/warnings-jan-6-insurrection/?itid=hp-top-table-main
  24. noteworthy observation: included in the syllabus link from brown is the required text list and first the book on that list, Critical race theory: An introduction, is available online and is free. https://uniteyouthdublin.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/richard_delgado_jean_stefancic_critical_race_thbookfi-org-1.pdf is not a long book. is ~190 total pages and that includes near 40 pages o' glossary, bibliography, recommended reading lists and similar such filler. HA! Good Fun!
