  1. is a trick question. actual answer is: the a-team tv universe. virtual all the women is attractive and car crashes is never fatal. HA! Good Fun!
  2. shady is asking to get messed up by an evil genie. star wars universe is our universe, no? is "a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away," but is same universe, yes? and star trek in 2016 is a few years before impending ww3, no? HA! Good Fun!
  3. well, am agreeing with you IF you are speaking of late february until mid april. 'course we got a similar dysfunction as home will always be the Badlands. ... perhaps am a bit off-topic. HA! Good Fun!
  4. are you being willful obtuse? at no point did we imply or suggest that egypt had adopted the US Constitution. and no, she weren't saying that "anyone writing a constitution should take SA constitution as a model." (see, that is how to use exact quotes.) in fact, your quote of Ginsburg seems to purposeful leave out the immediate preceding sentence "You should certainly be aided by all the constitution-writing that has gone on since the end of World War II." naughty selective quoting from wod? *feigned shock* in the same interview you quote, rbg also recommends looking at kanadian and european Constitutions. so no, she ain't recommending the sa constitution as a model. take what has been learned in recent decades and create something new and better? well gosh, that sounds positively American... much as does the following quote from the same interview: "let me say first that a constitution, as important as it is, will mean nothing unless the people are yearning for liberty and freedom. if the people don't care, then the best constitution in the world won't make any difference. so the spirit of liberty has to be in the population, and then the constitution - first, it should safeguard basic fundamental human rights, like our First Amendment, the right to speak freely, and to publish freely, without the government as a censor." burn the witch. ... is other ways in which you is wrong, but it gets tiresome explaining to you how water is wet. HA! Good Fun! ps gonna keep bolding and italicizing name 'til am certain you know proper spelling. wod eccentricities makes so is difficult to tell when is accidental or purposeful mistaken spellings for names.
  5. so you knew it wasn't an exact quote but you put in quotes anyway? do you even know what quotation marks represent? also, keep in mind that you are leaving out the fact that your quote of Ginsburg were a reply to a question 'bout crafting a Constitution for egypt. given how well the arab spring worked out, perhaps a different kinda Constitution would be a good starting point. oh, and we can quote Scalia observing that the Chinese Constitution is actual more protective o' fundamental rights than is the US Constitution... and guys such as Patrick Henry could be quoted for their opposition to the Bill of Rights. lack o' understanding and a willingness to take outta context is gonna continue to lead you to these little misapprehensions. as an aside, if Gromnir were writing a Constitution in 2012, we would be a bit liberal in using the text o' the original US Constitution. for chrissakes, look at all the amendments. is much legal gymnastics o' clauses that has resulted in our present functional Constitution here in the USA. if you can't improve, then you is either ignorant or dishonest. am not actual a fan o' Ginsburg, but wod misquotes and misrepresentations has us defending her. HA! Good Fun!
  6. don't put in quotes if she didn't say it. sheesh. and Ginsburg were indeed confirmed overwhelming by the senate, 'cause, y'know, she were a brilliant judge. ah, the good old days. HA! Good Fun!
  7. an inevitable impotent national executive is not the best kinda exposure for the libertarian cause. again, is bass ackwards. HA! Good Fun!
  8. our nose always itches when we get an mri. even worse, Gromnir is a bit broad (understatement) through the chest and shoulders. almost an hour immobile with an itchy nose and a hairsbreadth o' space 'tween us and the freaking halo. am not a fan o' mri, so you got our sympathy. today we spent most of the day not making pot roast. *sigh* we don't have beef stock on hand and am too much o' a snob to use box or jar stuff. so we did 'bout a dozen different things other than making pot roast. making pot roast is always a two-day process for Gromnir. gelatinized (is "gelatinized" a word or did we invent it?) connective tissue should be allowed time to reabsorb into meat, which means we need overnight cooling in fridge... and we need space in fridge for a large dutch oven. anywho, we didn't make space in fridge, or whip up stock or anything pot roast related. we did walk the dogs. saw a couple immature rattlesnakes. october seems a bit late for rattlesnake births as we were under the impression such birthings were a july-august kinda thing. we panicked a bit as we attempted to keep the dogs from getting their snoots bit. no injuries... in case you were concerned. cleaned off our desk too as we were struggling to find things to do other than make pot roast. a bit later we may rearrange our dvd collection. HA! Good Fun!
  9. to be fair, the President doesn't do most o' the things people on these boards wishes them to do. a libertarian President w/o party support is gonna be very much limited to international affairs if he wants to accomplish anything. johnson got almost 0 support in Congress, which is only slight better than trump who gots the antagonism o' a substantial portion o' his own party. actual Constitutional powers o' the President is limited insofar as domestic affairs is concerned, and johnson don't seem a particular enlightened choice for Leader of the Free World. better than trump? perhaps, but only by a smidgen. from our pov, gd support o' a libertarian candidate for President is bass ackwards. if you want local and national adoption o' libertarian values, then start by getting more libertarian state and national senators and representatives. a libertarian President w/o party support in Congress or an overwhelming mandate from the people is gonna be resulting in an impotent executive. most folks on these boards appear confused. they seem to want a Trump Congress or a Johnson Congress. is a basic and fundamental lack o' awareness 'bout what the President does in our federal government. our President is not the leader o' the controlling party o' parliament. *shrug* trump doesn't appear to have any grasp o' what a President can and cannot do...not to mention the fact that he has alienated many minority groups, women and environmentalists. oh, and we still ain't seen his taxes. when we imagine our ideal President for 2016, we conjure up the image o' divisive huckster with impulse control issues. not. alternatively, johnson is startling unaware 'bout the world beyond US borders, so let's give him control o' the largest military on earth and have him deal with china and the middle east? clinton is mendacious and skeevy. am not liking clinton, but she is the only candidate that will have any kinda Congressional support. none o' the candidates is gonna be able to manhandle the Senate into confirmation o' extreme choices for the Court, so replacements is gonna be political inoffensive judges with impeccable qualifications, but we can understand the fear o' those who see an increasing liberal Court as a reason to vote 'gainst clinton. yeah, if we were buying a used car, johnson is the guy we would feel most comfortable with as the seller. that ain't enough. HA! Good Fun!
  10. chelsea ______ is bad news. HA! Good Fun!
  11. HA! Good Fun!
  12. No they didn't. Holt said Trump supported the Iraq invasion, in the interview he's clearly not supporting, instead suggesting to wait for the UN. In any case, it's not a moderator's job to take sides in a controversy. *double-sigh* during the 2016 Presidential campaign, trump has specific stated that he were always against the invasion o' iraq, so his stance on invasion is an issue that trump put in play. the howard stern quote does tend to support the notion that trump were in favor o' invasion. the information supplied by your fox source is an attempt to rebut trump's own earlier statement that he supported invasion. at best your link provides equivocation o' an earlier statement supporting invasion. HA! Good Fun! ps unless what you is actual annoyed 'bout is that a moderator asked a question that trump has had difficulty asking. am actual thinking that such should be something we should applaud moderators for. ask clinton 'bout emails if trump don't raise spectre. ask trump 'bout iraq waffling if clinton does not. is to be applauded and not criticized... 'cause those is questions people want answers 'bout. personally, Gromnir is more interested in policy stance o' the candidates, but that ain't what this election is 'bout.
  13. *sigh* the fox link kinda cuts off relevant portions o' the interview. esquire has been a bit cheesed off that they got pulled into the mix, so they did a bit o' digging. http://www.esquire.com/news-politics/videos/a47684/trump-iraq-war/ HA! Good Fun!
  14. wod, as usual, don't know what he is talking 'bout. it is indeed scary to discover just how many potential criminals get deals. *chuckle* we knew a smuggler who got a deal from feds to functional educate 'em 'bout current smuggling routes n' such. was almost like a paid consultant... well, actual it were a paid consultant too, but he also avoided personal prosecution. a few years after his deal went into effect, the guy got busted, predictably, for smuggling. got transactional immunity, but that didn't prevent him from being prosecuted for future crimes, and he just couldn't keep his hands outta the cookie jar. were embarrassing for everybody involved. tv police procedurals is a bit misleading. in our experience, a considerable amount o' police work is getting one crook to snitch on others, and not necessarily in court. HA! Good Fun! So do you believe they agreed to snitch on Hilzilla and then didn't snitch? Or did the government just need an education on how to avoid all security protocols? false dichotomy. to get folks to aid investigations, the government makes all kinda deals. more than a few such deals look ridiculous in retrospect. however, making such deals is not uncommon. HA! Good Fun!
  15. wod, as usual, don't know what he is talking 'bout. it is indeed scary to discover just how many potential criminals get deals. 16. have always been curious 'bout the sequel mentality o' moviemakers. if is an action film, then perception is that the sequel needs more action. whatever made first film popular, the producers/directors try and add more. is kinda strange. got a food recipe with a perfect blend o' ingredients and our first thoughts for improving is not to add more mushrooms or capers or figs or whatever. explore different aspects and characters o' the hotel don't sound like a bad idea. is a new movie, so need new characters and stories. different aspects o' stuff folks were curious 'bout? sure. nevertheless, am mild annoyed that sequels is needing be bigger, louder and... more. HA! Good Fun!
  17. am a fan o' mustard grilled. http://hackthemenu.com/in-n-out/secret-menu/ HA! Good Fun! ps is not as good as culinerdy cruzer burgers, but the squeeze inn truck will be in our neighborhood on sunday. will likely wait for our burger fix.
  18. other than acting or movie making advice, the only thing am gonna listen to robert downey jr. 'bout is how to get the most bang-for-buck from the prison commissary... and perhaps he might have useful tips 'bout what to do when one wakes up naked in a neighbor's home. HA! Good Fun!
  19. Okay I will admit I was very surprised by this, this part shocked me the most ....why is more not done to resolve these hardships? Who is responsible to transform the overall quality of lifes? as noted in an earlier thread regarding US failure to address mental health issues o' many citizens, personal responsibility is a kinda fundamental value here in the US of A. am actual in favor o' US pov on personal responsibility, but there is entire portions o' our population who is having little success improving their lives and the lives o' their children. for example, is far too many children and mental ill folks who is homeless. such folks is incapable o' fixing their problems. native peoples has fallen into a similar seeming doomed situation. reservations are a legal fiction-- domestic dependent nations. the US has frequent ignored native sovereignty such as when building railroads or discovering gold or whatnot. converse, the US uses such sovereignty as an excuse to not aid native peoples. the bia is a curious american institution that were originally part o' the department of war. weren't til 1950s that bia becomes part of department of health and human resources. regardless, the native peoples who has been lucky enough to be granted recognition and/or lands has been given little help in developing the necessary basic infrastructure to develop their own economies. placed on land nobody else wants 'cause is largely worthless, and then left to own devices save most minimal welfare aid, native peoples has struggled to create working economies. surprise? the biggest obstacle for native peoples has been philosophical. the US has been in favor o' assimilation-- native peoples will most benefit by integrating into existing American culture. improve conditions on reservations is, from the pov o' folks in washington dc, an obstacle to assimilation. why integrate if the situation on a reservation is comfortable? on the other hand, native peoples has tended to resist assimilation. is actual a few tribes that has better college graduation than white populations in the same state. unfortunately, those graduates with their sociology or indian studies degrees come back after graduation to the reservation where there is no businesses or jobs for folks with a ba in wastedyourtimeforfouryears. 'course the more fundamental issue is that folks don't care. no, that ain't fair. people do care. the average American sees images and statistics regarding reservation life and they is as surprised and saddened as is bruce. unfortunately, the problems is enormous and as heart wrenching as the situation is, the plight o' american indigenous peoples don't affect most Americans personal. typical, positive government changes in this country happen at the local level. our fed is actual far more limited than most people understand. unfortunately, given how treaty relations and the dependent domestic nation nonsense works, any kinda positive change for native peoples need come from the National government. is a mess. as for native peoples as a whole, Pine Ridge represents some o' the worst conditions, but it is also one o' the largest reservations so is also one o' the more glaring examples o' US-Indian relations. save for a small number o' tribes, native peoples tend to fare worse than any other ethnic group insofar as standard o' living measures is concerned.
  20. I called them up to cancel and they dropped me to about 100 bucks to stay I think I lost Starz in the deal so nothing of real value was lost won't starz be the folks carrying american gods? the faceless suits always get you somehow. HA! Good Fun!
  21. from a post during the recent israel-gaza troubles "...child mortality rates is worse at Pine Ridge than in Gaza. didn’t have much choice ‘bout moving during year 1, eh? regardless the moving and US citizenship is clear bunk too. let’s look at stats, shall we? Average lifespan of male in Gaza is +70.5 years. male life span in Pine Ridge is 48 for males. unemployment in Pine Ridge is 80%, which is worse than Gaza. alcoholism is understandably worse at Pine Ridge given Muslim prohibitions regarding such intoxicants, but the suicide rate at pine ridge has, from time-to-time been higher than in any other place on earth. population growth in Gaza is 3.5%... which is darn good considering they is ‘posed victims o’ genocide. 4% is the 10 year population growth for Pine Ridge. literacy rates is better at Pine Ridge, but only by a fraction. thanks to Arabs caring disproportionately less about the education of their women folk, Pine Ridge beat Gaza by .5% in the literacy category. Huzzah. homes with electricity, telephone and running water is more likely in Gaza, or at least they were in June before hamas started throwing rockets at Israel." http://www.slate.com/blogs/behold/2014/02/20/aaron_huey_photographs_the_pine_ridge_reservation_in_south_dakota_in_his.html http://www.redcloudschool.org/reservation http://www.4aihf.org/id40.html https://www.theguardian.com/global/2010/jan/11/native-americans-reservations-poverty-obama http://www.pbs.org/newshour/updates/north_america-july-dec11-blackhills_08-23/ no matter how many times we link, people seem surprised. by almost every metric, the standard of living in gaza is better (significantly) than at pine ridge. people being shocked that violence is also a significant problem in such a place is curious to us.
  22. am not understanding the confusion. In other words he is saying more Native Americans are killed than AA....I find that hard to believe? is a per capita rate
  23. am not understanding the confusion.
  24. guardian is utter bs. use washington post. wp actual does follow-up rather than using any media mention o' a shooting to add to totals. am personal most concerned 'bout unarmed victims o' police shootings. TOTAL number o' unarmed peoples shot by cops in the US were 93... all races. black, sadly, accounted for more o' those 93 than any other ethnic group, but regardless, still talking 'bout small numbers compared to total gun violence in this nation. hell, is small numbers compared to number o' american deaths by baseball bat or in bare-knuckle fights. perhaps most sad is that a significant percentage o' those shot by cops were reported to have been exhibiting signs o' mental illness. more than 1/4. the US does a terrible job o' taking care o' its mental ill. (edit: the 1/4 mark is o' the total shootings. am not seeing numbers o' metal ill prevalence in the unarmed shootings) the burden o' personal responsibility is a bit higher in the US than in other western nations. individuals need provide for their own food and shelter and higher educations. unfortunately, the mental ill predictable is less capable o' providing for themselves, so they fall through cracks and they frequent get no help at all. total shot dead by cops in 2015 were 990. total so far this year is 706. https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/national/police-shootings/ as for gd still believing that the obama administration wants a national police force... *shrug* am not least bit bothered that gd has come to such a conclusion. we were only concerned 'bout mischaracterization o' obama statements. unnecessary. while Gromnir is less concerned 'bout the possibility o' the fed trying to install a national police force than is gd, we can understand why gd is concerned. gd and Gromnir arrive at different conclusions. thank goodness. would be scary if everybody thought same as Gromnir. our only point were that obama had not overt advocated a national police force five times in the last few years. just hasn't happened. gd sees the rough beast slouching towards bethlehem? fine. we got no problem with him believing different than Gromnir. HA! Good Fun!
  25. Pay your student loans.... or ELSE motherf----r! lordy. we do feel sympathy for those who took out massive loans to pay for school. is there any school that discourages ignorant 20-somethings from mortgaging their futures in the name o' higher education? "hey kid, go work for ups instead." how many art history, political science and communication majors at private and public universities 'cross the nation woulda' benefited from such advice? HA! Good Fun!
