  1. That's pretty good. Although technically, it would have to be a galley. Maybe also have a ships rolls in the Captain's cabin. first of all, as Gromnir has already been a prominent npc in a crpg, am not gonna want our likeness added, so if we contribute, we don't need/want our likeness in poe2. suggestion 1: don't try and maximize bodies. am thinking it is best to start with the understanding many will not get mention, save for as leferd identifies, mention in ship's log; perhaps as those brave pirate heroes lost to sea and blade and (more likely) amoebic dysentery. on the roll of deceased, let funder actual choose means o' death from a shortlist o' three or four options? dunno. create enormous rowing galley if such is not practical makes little sense. though you can ask obsidian we s'pose. regardless, come up with a good idea for a pirate ship theme but don't try and design so it accommodates more contributors. there will be folks left out. fine. best to start with that recognition than to have it forced 'pon folks. oh, and am suspecting the best option is worst option. suggestion 2: have funders submit pirate character sketches/bios and let obsidian choose from a more manageable shortlist advanced to them to populate the ship. turn into a kinda board contest where best twenty or thirty as determined by boardie votes (or some other means) is then advanced to obsidian who is making final choice. let obsidian make minor/major changes if need be. such would be our suggestion if not for having seen innumerable board contests in the past. gonna need have folks, particular the losers, be mature. is perhaps too much to ask based on past experience. nevertheless, am thinking with our suggestion you end up with the best pirate crew possible. HA! Good Fun!
  2. your idea, sorta. am nominating you to take the lead. trustworthy enough fellow. perhaps guarantee you a spot as "leferd the cabin boy"? HA! Good Fun!
  3. am admitted baffled 'bout the pirate ship v. inn at $5,000. two entities has purchased the inn option, but thus far no pirate ship takers. what kinda bizarro alternate world has people choosing the inn option instead o' the pirate ship? doesn't make any sense. HA! Good Fun!
  4. last comments. 1) people really should read the old threads honest, you cannot guess how little new is being added to this 2) it is a gross mischaracterization to try and reduce the crpg romance topics as being a disagreement 'tween "two camps." it is a spectrum, and folks got varying reasons and degrees o' emotional investment. while am suspecting josh reasons is different than Gromnir's, we both have observed how we actual favor romance in storytelling. is a falsehood to suggest all good writing needs love. (too much anime for some folks?) even so, as we mentioned in our links, love is a frequent and powerful aspect o' many stories. our favorite crpg is ps:t, and we believe what made ps:t actual stand apart from all other games were ravel. ravel's love for tno were essential to ravel's character, and our appreciation for ravel is one reason we is opposed to the bio-style minigame "romances," but again, we has discussed this many times. am suspecting josh and other obsidnaties have equal complex reasons for liking romance but nevertheless being convinced bio-style romances is too difficult to do well. regardless, reduce to black v. white and yes v. no is false dichotomy and unfair. done. at least three month hiatus from direct romance discussion... or the unlikely event somebody says something new. again, this has been a perpetual crpg board issue since the nwn development. HA! Good Fun!
  5. It will be patched in future releases. Or modders will fix it HA! Good Fun!
  6. might as well give the frequent bump as questions at sa is far more likely to be answered than those posted on obsidian's boards. quite a goodly number o' queries has been addressed as a matter o' fact. HA! Good Fun!
  7. y'know, am suspecting more than a few folks who have been on these boards for decades will expect us to chastise you for your foolishness. ain't worth it. you want romances and are gonna ignore the reality that game development is a zero sum game which means for everything added, something else needs be lost. you didn't seem to believe romances would take much effort in spite o' the fact the obsidians already claimed the opposite during the last poe development. etc. am seeing you don't genuine wanna discuss. you want romances. we won't get very far. only saving grace is we know the mods will eventual need merge the promancer threads and they will eventual die as has all the rest. but again, crowdfunded romance dlc gets everybody what they want. huzzah. you can thank us later. HA! Good Fun!
  8. edit: y'know, as our links shoulda' shown, this is all so pointless repetitive. read links to previous threads and perhaps get answers you seek, or don't. not worth our effort. HA! Good Fun!
  9. As if I'm gonna read those long walls of text of your personal opinion. I won't mind if it's a stretch goal, but better yet I want devs themselves voice their opinion as to why they don't wanna do them, considering they've done them before and now wanna take the throne from BG2 with Deadfire. "I don't get why people are so against romances. It seems like it's just cool to hate it nowadays. Nobody says they want explicit sex scenes or a date sim. I don't see a problem if devs simply do something in the vein of flirting in Planescape: Torment or smth a little more advanced like in Baldur's Gate 2." you expressed lack o' understanding from those opposed to romances. you wanted reasons. your desire for easily digestible portions would appear to be an admission o' a personal shortcoming. *shrug* and you has already got developer input and explanation as they explained during poe development. you think reasoning has somehow changed? is likely to be less money and resources available this time, so reasoning is gonna be as valid now as were a few years ago, yes? HA! Good Fun!
  10. is smash the euphemism kids is using these days? am so outta touch. @aramintai our links answer your querry. tediuous. in detail. repeated. oh, and am again gonna recommend making romances dlc fodder with separate funding. everybody wins, no? HA! Good Fun!
  11. Alright, i get that but doesn't this all mean that the US was racist and based on fear until recent history? What i am getting at is that will racism dissappear once the identity of a people is no longer tied to a nation/ethnic group but rather to their individual hobbies or self-actuation? gonna disagree. people in the US is as nationalistic today as they were before ww1, but racism and general bigotry towards foreigners is much different today. our grandparents woulda' been mighty perplexed by micro-aggression and triggers. we still got a long way to go before we can say racial bigotry is a thing o' the past, and cultural bigotry will, we suspect, last much longer. ain't gonna get rid o' various kinds o' bigotry by diminishing the identity o' self people already gots. best way to overcome bigotry is simply to foster greater peaceful interactions. is one reason Gromnir is kinda saddened by the trend towards on-line universities. go to a major university and chances are you is gonna have considerable interaction with people who got diverse backgrounds. even if you is from the most homogenous town in rural _______, go to university and have classes and study groups and labs with folks different from self goes a long way towards dispelling basic misunderstandings and fears. is our pov that we need not try and diminish nationalism. get rid o' national identity is gonna be a Long time remote from us, much more remote than the +50 years since we passed the civil rights. have made much progress already w/o diminished nationalism, so... HA! Good Fun!
  12. We were just incredibly racist back then. It got a bit better in 1965. the civil rights act of 1964 were kinda the sea change moment, but change didn't happen instantaneous. has been a slow and painful process and more than a few patriotic and earnest americans wish we could turn back the clock to 1964, or 1954, or even 1861. HA! Good Fun! I wasn't talking about civil rights as that was about the people already living there, i was talking about immigration policy. Which according to the arguments at hand, was based around fear until 1965. P.S. I see what you mean about the other years, care to clairfy about what was significant about 1954? civil rights act represented a sea change in the way the country, through their democratic elected representatives, made a choice 'bout how we were no longer gonna tolerate discrimination based 'pon race, creed, or national origin. 1954 one reason we is one o' the few folks willing to call brown v. board of education a failure o' law and policy is 'cause it actual resulted in increased racial tensions, particular in the south. Court did the moral right thing, but they did the wrong way, and they compounded by using fuzzy kinda legal reasoning. states such as mississippi and tennessee actual saw dramatic increases in the number o' segregated schools after brown. keep in mind that, even today, many southerners see the civil war as having mostly been 'bout the north trying to impose its will 'pon the south. when the Court dictated desegregation w/o any kinda democratic process, there were reflexive resistance. is hard to believe, but even in the south, previous to brown, most folks in the US were increasing in favor o' desegregation. representatives were a bit slow in changing the culture o' each state, but the change were taking place and the rate o' change were ever accelerating. perhaps irrationally, brown actual gave the south an excuse to increase racial animosity and resurrect old hatreds. anyways, 1954 were significant. HA! Good Fun!
  13. Interesting... what does 75-85% of power mean... no idea what 75-85% actual means, particular for a spell caster. am gonna be patient and wait for details. HA! Good Fun!
  14. Did you check your junk folder? It came addressed from Obsidian Entertainment. Got mine Friday. got nothing. guess we need ask 'bout the oversight. you say the email came from obsidian, yes? then we will need to start with obsidian. HA! Good Fun!
  15. yeah, Gromnir has pointed out many times, and in multiple threads, how it is easy for a party with a single priest to get caught in a kinda buff+buff+heal cycle o' boredom with their priest. is not a problem with the class. multiple priests solves the tendency to overlook the more interesting gameplay opportunities o' the class. the priest is powerful and, in our experience, fun. 'course this is one reason am a bit disappointed with the reduction to party of five members. a multi-priest party is more viable with six than with five. HA! Good Fun!
  16. That's the problem right there. The priest was more valuable at buffing/countering than fighting, so he ended up doing little fighting despite being built for the job. well, that ain't a problem with the class. like weapons? take sanctifier and ghost hunter talents and weapon focus _____ as well as the deity-specific weapon talent. add a couple o' the other "martial" talents such as one-handed style and/or savage attacks as well as scion of flame. nobody is forcing pj to use the priest as a buffer. use other support classes or a second priest to buff while your priest o' berath destroys the world with fire and maces or great swords. is not a shortcoming o' the class that it is so good at buffing most people never realize how good it is at killing stuff... particularly undead. HA! Good Fun! ps most undead spirits have reduced resistance to flame, so your priest is gonna wipe the dungeon floor with them as long as you use flame spells and scion. as a dedicated spell caster, am doubting there will be much appeal to multiclass, save for perhaps 1-2 levels o' whatever... at most 1-2 levels
  17. I did (priest of Berath). It was fun in the early game. Mid to late game I was too busy casting to be able to do much fighting, plus the lack of martial talents made for an unsatisfactory combatant. Overall it was one of the less fun builds I tried. why does casting preclude fighting? the priest has a wide variety o' offensive spells, particular fire-based. and the martial talents is equal available to priests as any other class. *shrug* it took years, but check out the recent "most powerful class" threads. the serious build folks finally came around and realized just how flexible and powerful is a priest. the thing is, priests is so valuable at buffing we suspect most casual players never realize just how powerful a priest can be. HA! Good Fun!
  18. perfect undead hunter is a priest. period. one can make an offensive focused priest in poe. people rare do, which we find perplexing. HA! Good Fun!
  19. worst kinda déjà vu http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/80293-thoughts-on-romance-and-modding-official-romance-thread/?p=1801737 http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/70723-the-official-romance-thread/?p=1576523 http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/66436-bittersweet-eternity-an-open-letter-addressed-to-obsidian-entertainment/?p=1464868 http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/53294-new-mass-effect-2-character/?p=1000256 etc HA! Good Fun! ps am repeating our previous opinion regarding poe romance: make it a seperate dlc funding goal. torment offered the bloom separate from the base game. do same with romance. offer romances and let the promancers fund... or not.
  20. am gonna see more than a few o' these threads. is already a wishlist thread or two. perhaps the mods could merge and pin? HA! Good Fun!
  21. barbarian is worst poe class from perspective o' matching espoused developer goals for the class. no class defining attributes or abilities? barbarians is a nifty class with kewl powhaz, but from a design pov, it is a clear fail. too dependent on carnage, which also is inextricable linked to intelligence. barbarian is the class which most clear fails to meet developer goals. keep the fun, but lose the broken arse mechanics. oh, and developers should quit using "genius barbarian" as some kinda measure o' poe character customization success. the ubiquitous smarty barbarians is an example o' the exact opposite o' the freedom to customize which exists in much o' poe. if everybody is playing a smarty barbarian, then obsidian did something wrong. terrible example, so quit using it. HA! Good Fun!
  22. Because Islamic extremists are not a genuine threat to the US. It's not an enemy state trying to wage war on us. They attack civilian targets because they know they have no real chance of toppling our government. Instead they try to spread fear, which they hope will force the government to do stupid things, which will add to their power. It's an ideology, and the danger lies in the spreading of that ideology. Honestly the President seems to be playing right into their hands. Are internment camps next? oddly enough, during the campaign when trump's supporters and campaign leadership were asked 'bout the dubious legality o' the current President's plans for dealing with immigrants, they near universal mentioned korematsu. ... one o' the most reviled Court cases o' the past two centuries and near universal recognized as bad law, were the foundation o' legitimizing the alt-right's plans for making America great again. heed the recent departed J. Scalia's warnings from the linked wp article: "“But you are kidding yourself if you think the same thing will not happen again,” he said. "He used a Latin expression to explain why. “Inter arma enim silent leges … In times of war, the laws fall silent.” "“That’s what was going on — the panic about the war and the invasion of the Pacific and whatnot,” Scalia said. “That’s what happens. It was wrong, but I would not be surprised to see it happen again — in time of war. It’s no justification but it is the reality.”" too many o' us is afraid o' the wrong danger. fear gets us the patriot act and korematsu. legally, it can't happen again, but it will happen again.
  23. We were just incredibly racist back then. 24. At one point I could have said that I do, but I've been on Deadfire exclusively for a good while :D Thank you! So besides concept art, can you reveal what else you're working on? I'm assuming atleast more portraits? could be worse. our experience were more akin to HA! Good Fun!
