  1. for years Gromnir has been accused o' being a sex-bot. HA! Good Fun!
  2. ydwin will die horribly via a scripted event during first melee combat. goth-girl's skirt will become entangled on an oxcart or rose bush or whatever as she attempts to enter the fray, causing her to lose balance and stumble to her knees. recent rains/snows will have resulted in the ground being muddy, and when she final gets back to her feet, and readjusts her glasses, her spectacles will be smeared with all manner o' dampness and dirt. instead o' removing her predictable fouled glasses as she shoulda' done in the first place, ydwin will stumble forward, functional blinded by folly, to be moments later speared through the liver by a xaurip juvenile wielding a fire-sharpened stick and a dragon-sized attitude. thus will end the story o' ydwin. fade to black. everybody cries. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mdYPBIuhJY HA! Good Fun!
  3. Well, you're not obliged by anyone/anything to give an accurate release date; you're not the publisher So, guess freely! we will guess freely. is the reason we will wait 'til beta and we discover just how much work needs be done to get the game into some semblance o' a releasable state. our free guess for poe release were within a few days o' actual release, but we similar would not have attempted to make a guess for poe without seeing how far along were the obsidians. HA! Good Fun!
  4. am gonna wait for the beta before making release guesses. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/66536-guess-the-release-date/?p=1470995 as one can see, most folks were a bit optimistic 'bout the previous poe release date. HA! Good Fun!
  5. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/factcheck/analysis-fact-checking-president-trump%e2%80%99s-pinocchio-laden-associated-press-interview/ar-BBAjJpm?ocid=spartandhp the recent trump twitter rant 'bout judge shopping were amusing as well. 'cause san francisco has options other than the 9th circuit to address sanctuary city concerns? 'course this is one o' those gut-level appeals for which trump is becoming (in)famous. am actual understanding why trump supporters is current enraged by the fed judges. liberals were in a similar position a few years ago when judges were stomping 'pon obama actions. seems wrong to many folks that a single judge could block an executive order or act of Congress, or fed rule. the thing is, the Court does not make advisory opinions, so the only functional way to test Constitutionality o' government action is through actual cases brought before the courts, and with almost few exceptions, one starts at district level. according to the Constitution, a person or entity need an actual case or controversy to gets benefits o' judicial attention. hypothetical people with potential problems do not get their day in court. good. can one imagine how busted would be the court system if every claim o' federal excess were needing be reviewed by the Supreme Court of the United States of America? HA! Good Fun!
  6. can't speak for others, but prostitutes were getting a bit expensive and a conviction for solicitation mighta' hurt our job prospects. HA! Good Fun!
  7. we didn't have a boat for poe, but your approach were our solution to party composition in the genesis game. as a borderline ocd completionist, Gromnir were able to bring to resolution every joinable npc's quest during our first run o' poe. companions were rotated out o' the inn/keep frequent. similar, a poe2 goal for Gromnir is gonna be to maximize the number o' companion story arcs we fully explore during our first playthrough. mix n' match will be necessary. reduced number o' party slots will complicate our efforts to always have our necessary (admitted subjective) party roles fulfilled, but the flexibility o' companion class choice will hopeful balance out our difficulties. HA! Good Fun!
  8. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Chuunibyou amazing. didn't think the day would ever come when anime might prove useful to us, but such is the perversity o' obsidian's wot. HA! Good Fun!
  9. Not seeing the Riker and Metallica mashup potential. our disdain for nirvana when they were an active and touring band were perhaps excessive. smells like teen spirit gave us what we believe to be justifiable loathing for nirvana. am admitting their (not quite) unplugged mtv session changed our mind a bit. in any event, am final back from our easter + trip to see family and get work done in the midwest. serious need a vacation. exhausted. HA! Good Fun!
  10. am agreeing that the bears first round trade appears ill-advised, but in our opinion the trubisky pick only makes sense because o' the glennon deal. the "all that money" description is a bit misleading. https://theringer.com/mike-glennon-chicago-bears-nfl-free-agency-624383c09bd6 for a starting qb, the glennon money ain't particular large and is not having onerous long-term guaranteed money. the thing is, trubisky is not a day-1 starting qb. am not certain he will ever be a starter, but he sure as hell shouldn't start in 2017. even folks such as gruden and riddick who like trubisky do not believe he should start in 2017. the money payed to glennon for 2017 will diminish the possibility o' an ill-advised trubisky start. *shrug* am not seeing trubisky as a franchise qb. too few starts. couldn't beat out his mediocre qb predecessor in the two previous seasons at UNC. in his limited starts, trubisky had a few bad outings. etc. even so, is glennon's presence which makes the pick plausible. like so many promising (maybe) nfl qb prospects, starting on a bad team could ruin trubisky. folks forget, but david carr were a can't miss prospect on par with andrew luck. is tough to develop a young nfl qb with +50 sack seasons, yes? if folks other than the bears actual were trying to trade for the spot, we can kinda see the conundrum for chicago. smart move woulda' been for the bears to trade down, but if trubisky went off the board at 2, then their number 3 pick woulda' had far less value as the next seven or eight guys on most draft boards had similar kinda draft grades. jamal adams woulda' been a smart pick, but a traditional strong safety wouldn't be an ideal fit for the bears. etc. https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-ranking-all-32-nfl-quarterbacks-this-season/ IF trubisky becomes a top 10 qb in the league w/i a couple years, am gonna have difficulty genuine criticizing the trade. currently the bears got a good interior ol, and their rb pick from last year arguable outperformed ezekiel elliott. is questions, particular at wr and ot, but the bears actual had relative decent offensive output considering they were on 3rd and 4th string qbs and wrs for much o' the year. again, we wouldn't have considered taking trubisky at 3, much less trading up for him, but if he becomes top ten, then... oj howard looks like a good pickup for the buccaneers. the chargers need ol help for rivers, but am thinking the williams choice were excellent. am admitting we were surprised by the slide o' reuben foster as we thought he were a top 10 kinda guy. am curious to see how far cook and mixon drop 'cause o' character issues. am a big fan o' budda baker, but am suspecting he will be fighting injuries during an all-too-brief career. interesting draft and will be a curious day 2, particular at top o' round two as we foresee numerous teams attempting to trade up for a handful o' first round guys who is seeming inexplicable available. HA! Good Fun!
  11. you are being volish. united apologized for what happened to the guy, and not for anything they actual did. previous to united ceo public hand wringing, the cops had already announced how an officer involved were on administrative leave pending an investigation. cops admitted the event were handled outside scope of policy, which ain't same as saying it were illegal, but is unusual. so, the situation is unusual as passengers were already boarded... you ain't gonna find consistency o' united knowing they were violating law. even vol can do a quick search and find aviation lawyers who has defended united's position, so the legal issues ain't clear-cut and sure weren't obvious to the united personnel at the terminal or on plane. you ain't gonna find some kinda personal reason why united were trying to screw dao. punitive for united is most unlikely. farmer bob oversells space for some kinda music festival. has been doing music festival for many years. 'ccording to the tickets, he can do oversells 'cause o' no-shows. no-shows for reservations don't actual pay, so bob initial lost a whole lotta money every year 'fore he instituted his overbook policy. folks gain access before the festival, but 'ccording to curious ny state festival law (not real) a ticket holder is not actual considered admitted to a festival until 30 minutes before start o' first attraction/act/whatever. a mere hour before start of festival, farmer bob realizes he has overbooked and accidental admitted multiple folks to be sharing tent areas. farmer bob needs space for some employees who will be working concessions, so he asks if any ticket holders for tent space wanna give up their space. desperate, farmer bob offers ticket value and hotel space, and then sweetens the deal a couple times. no takers. farmer bob runs outta ideas. in the past he has always stopped oversell reservation ticket purchasers before they enter the festival area. what to do? well, farmer bob is an old d&d fan, so he has ten sided dice, which is convenient as there is 100 tent space reservations which would work for the carnies. bob rolls dice and it comes up 37. plot 37 is a dr. dao from louisville, ky. bob asks dr. dao to give up his tent space while offering him vouchers and hotel room accommodations and whatnot. dr. dao won't leave. *poop* when folks get unruly and angry 'bout ticket issues, bob calls the local sheriff. the local sheriff maintains a presence at the festival, but is not actual employees o' farmer bob. so bob calls sheriff and explains how he needs to have dr. dao removed 'cause o' an overbooking issue. next thing you know, the sheriff is dragging an asian doctor out through the front gate o' the festival. the dr. is bloodied and screaming as he is dragged past festival goers and concession stands; bystanders is taking pictures and video with their cellphones. farmer bob, looking like a poleaxed steer as he witnesses the debacle, is heard to utter, "what the &%#k?" is situation different 'cause is farmer bob and not a big and evil corporation? why? so what damage did real dao suffer? don't tell us 'bout evil corporations, 'cause such ain't the basis for damages or a cause o' action. don't expect monetary windfall or tell us 'bout pain and suffering, cause those is largely imaginary. medical expenses. plane fare. lost wages. what money does dao need to be made whole? HA! Good Fun!
  12. the american dream is largely a fantasy. the goal is to make the person whole. so, count up actual damage to dao and pay. wrongful death sometimes gets big dollars. class actions get big money, but rare does an individual get much. punitive damages is a big source, but punitive is tough. 'course again, the big issue is it were not united but law enforcement who dragged the guy off the plan and injured him, so even in contributory damages situations... *shrug* plus even if you win or settle, lawyer gets a big cut. is always the assumption that folks get rich on lawsuits, and rare does it work out that way. yeah, there is possibility that 'cause o' the public nature o' this, everybody will wanna make it disappear 'cause is no-win for united and law enforcement. assume for a moment dao gets very little and such is reported. united would again looks like bad guy even if law doesn't entitle dao to much. am actual doubtful united is concerned 'bout actual lawsuit damages. HA! Good Fun!
  13. enduring our annual penance by visiting family. will be easter fun for everybody. HA! Good Fun!
  14. the thread itself is kinda farcical, no? anime trope applicability to obsidian's goth-fetish glasses girl? "if eder were a dr. seuss character, what sort of pet would be most appropriate to him?" "will poe2 aloth be obsidian's dragon age 2 anders?" trying to keep such stuff firm anchored in poe is possible, but might not be worth the effort. though to be fair, we never thought the thread would last more than three pages, much less eight. HA! Good Fun!
  15. am thinking it is unlikely we will see an end to twin elms merchant or soulbound weapon lateness. wm soulbounds is actual a unique issue as the expansions could be accessed relative early, but twin elms is last 1/4 o' the critical path. soulbounds were not part o' the core game, so am expecting they will function a bit different in poe2. poe 2 soulbounds might be included earlier, but have more difficult power unlocks. still, for the core poe player who did every tangential side-quest before arriving at twin elms, the twin elms merchant is indeed only available very late in the game. then again, one needs to make such merchants available so all the accumulated money will have a point, eh? get to near end of game and have nothing to spend tens or hundreds o' thousands o' 'ccumulated gold/copper 'pon would be disappointing for many. ideally, the power o' found or sold weapons increases proportional to challenges found in the game. as such, am not expecting a change to the ordinary availability o' such weapons. best non-crafted weapons should be found at a place in game where their relative power is not unbalancing. that being said, we do feel bad for the morningstar folks who were not lucky 'nuff (or did not exploit azzuro) and manage to get mebec's early/mid. there is two fantastic morningstars in the game. one is available after you jump down into the well o' souls, or whatever it were called in-game. the other is found on arguable the toughest map o' the wm ii expansion. pre-expansion daystar, in particular, does feel like a kinda thin veiled developer joke. you finally find a great morningstar and you got maybe three encounters + the final boss left in the game. hurrah. HA! Good Fun! ps rose is also a nice morningstar, but it can be missed. am suspecting no mebec or rose makes for a disappointing morningstar slog... 'least pre expansion.
  16. as agiel already noted, there is multiple sources for the tlam-d info, but you find one contradiction to bolster your reflexive denialism. is a pattern for you and russia. anybody would come to likely conclusion that the navy simple did not update their public site regarding that specific weapon (updating the page don't mean the entry were accurate updated... obvious), cause there is multiple other sources which make pretty clear that the tlam-d don't have the capacity you believe it does, including highly respected independent sources such as jane's. and those tomahawks has been used over water many times. have a couple be inaccurate and miss targets over such a distance would fall within ordinary range o' expectations. maybe three? heck, go crazy and maybe account for 5 inaccurate tomahawks. most extreme, benefit-o-the-doubt filled pipedream and suggest 10 outta 59 missed final marks. 10? 49 hits woulda' been improbable low, but am guessing it still sounded like too much from the pov o' the russians. russian playbook is to lie and so we get less than 50% accurate. right. planes not targeted on runway 'cause syria has no pilots? HA! syria and russia got considerable advanced warning, so some planes were gonna be moved. not target the planes most likely to be moved? *feigned shock.* etc. your reflexive denialism is a condition. you deny capacity to identify by radar inspite o' considerable evidence to contrary. you deny simple 'cause proofs come from US sources or mass media sources, which is exact the kinda paranoid and reflexive denialism russia has been attempting to export for years. you are the ideal mark for the flim-flam. fine. so when the opportunity to get an independent investigation going regarding the cw attack, one from a source not inherent tainted in zor's mind, the russians predictable veto. not even the chinese stood in the way o' getting an independent investigation going from the UN regarding the cw attack. an independent UN investigation would establish facts which would not have the taint you seem to believe is inherent to any US or mass media source. russia's response were to reject when such an investigation would be the best way to exonerate an innocent syria. russia vetoes? am glad you brought up Gromnir's typical reaction to trump, 'cause is just one way a normal and reasonable person differs from the reflexive denialist. we do not believe trump. we don't believe his motives, but trump is not the US government, which seems to be a shock to nobody more than trump. how many times has we already seen US intelligence agencies refute trump during his short time as President? we don't believe trump motives and am gonna be suspicious o' trump statements. even so, we don't insist that every statement made by trump must be false. we can actual make coherent and reasoned choices 'bout trump statements rather than resorting to reflex denialism. trump's position regarding syria as a whole? he has reversed self and we condemn him for doing so in spite o' trump initial claims that he has been consistent regarding syria and the middle east. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/for-trump-a-steep-learning-curve-leads-to-policy-reversals/ar-BBzPja8?li=AA5a8k&ocid=spartandhp http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/factcheck/fact-check-trump-faulting-obama-on-syria-contradicts-himself/ar-BBzmCiF?ocid=spartandhp have said from the start that we do not believe trump genuine understood the role o' President, and he indulges in the same kinda alternative facts nonsense as is perpetuated by russia. doesn't mean everything which comes from trump is wrong. continue with the denialism. ignore russia blocking UN investigation. concoct (or simple adopt russian version) conspiracy theories which would explain how an independent investigation would diminish the likelihood o' an innocent syria being exonerated. imagine conspiracy theories to refute US sources or established capacity o' radar to identify aircraft. in the end, all your wacky refusal to accept traditional western media sources and western intelligence sources doesn't actual matter as the only folks believing similar is the fellow tinfoil hat nutters... and pretty much all russians. http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Europe/2013/0222/Was-Chelyabinsk-meteor-actually-a-meteor-Many-Russians-don-t-think-so.-video well, am gonna go celebrate easter with family, most o' whom is dyed-in-wool tinfoil hat brigade loyalists. joy. HA! Good Fun! ps just an opinion piece, and simple stating obvious, but... http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/13/opinions/putin-and-trump-fake-news-bros-axelrod/index.html
  17. "who is your role-model?" doesn't come up in conversations often, but it happens. our answer is "barbara jordan." typical we get blank stares. explanation often causes more confusion. am considered libertarian/conservative in our social circle. professionally we gets lumped in with the current textualists. as such, am s'posing barbara jordan might seem like an odd choice. HA! Good Fun!
  18. trump never quite shifted out of campaign mode. he continues speaking to the less than 40% of american voters who actual approve o' him. for every issue, trump needs a worldwide electoral college and a hillary clinton adversary for his shtick to resonate. to be fair, we find most political orators to be... feculent. blah. blah. blah. folks spoke to us 'bout what a great speaker were reagan, and we never got it. is maybe a handful o' exceptions: a foremost exception. "Augustus Gvtedus XIVIIXIII" for almost a full second, we attempted to figure out what obvious imaginary number the above might represent. a mashup o' 14, 2, 13 would be... an utter ridiculous waste of time we obvious indulged in and then bothered to comment 'pon in a post. HA! Good Fun!
  19. none of which changes shibboleth. "spiritual successor" first got used in regard to poe 'cause hack game journalists used the turn-o-phrase. can't actual blame obsidian for "spiritual successor" specific as, for the umpteenth time, they made no such claim. blame obsidian for selling nostalgia? 'course not. is good salesmanship. identify a niche o' gamers largely ignored by AAA publishers and sell 'em nostalgia? why the heck not? even so, blame obsidian for folks globbing onto a nonsense term 'cause obsidian were using nostalgia? a stretch, but again, so what? regardless o' sexy women taking off their clothes in beer commercials level o' transparent marketing, "SPIRITUAL SUCCESSOR" is nevertheless a nonsense phrase which has been used in the past and persists in spite o' fact it has no meaning outside of as a recognition o' marketing. shibboleth. you tell us the marketing campaign successful had folks buy into the nostalgia? fine. there is reasons why every shibboleth evolves and persists. 'course there is reasons. 'course it persists. wouldn't be a definition for shibboleth w/o some amount o' frequency and persistence. "spiritual successor" persists 'cause people is being foolish. even smarty folks do stoopid things, and this is one o' those pestilential vermin o' the crpg community which exhibits preternatural fecundity in spite o' obvious inanity. is a turn-o-phrase which evokes a feeling rather than anything substantial. is marketing puffery. nevertheless, the phrase has become common crpg parlance in spite o' the fact it means nothing. bad journalists use. wiki guys use. random folks on message boards use. obsidian, however, did not use. given how common the phrase is and how endemic were its use regarding poe, the absence o' usage by obsidian is as telling as is use by folks in this thread. last one' cause you has exhausted us. HA! Good Fun!
  20. ah, so the complaint is that the navy didn't update their website. shocking that jane's does a better job. is complete baffling that with at least one hour advanced warning, a few resources might be moved? points for dogged consistency though. even brought up imagined hypocrisy. more deflection? sure, Gromnir has beat on trump for alternative facts, including his bizarre 180 regarding intervention in syria itself. however, is the russian propaganda playbook to simple try and make everything look like a lie so that conspiracy theorist nutters believe every State claim is couched in lies. tomahawks has been in service for decades, and their capabilities and shortcomings is well known. try and flim-flam us into believing less than half were accurate, less than half managed to reach target out of 59? the fuzzy russian drone video sure were convincing, eh? to believe complete unprecedented simple 'cause trump's administration affirmed 57 o' 59 reached targets? radar data. what else? whatever. we do not suffer such paranoia, but again, thanks for illustrating. reflex denialism has gotta be exhausting. as usual, you got reversed and inverted and/or backwards. our trump suspicion woulda' been triggered if numerous independent sources confirmed a chemical weapon attack and trump characteristically denied such ever happened. if after numerous news agencies, national intelligence agencies and satellite imagery revealed an attack had taken place on the syrian airbase and trump nevertheless denied the US were responsible... blame on isis or accident or some such, then we would suspect trump o' more alternative facts. syria used chemical weapons. the US then applied a limited and proportional response to chastise syria and russia. even with one hour advance warning, syria and the russians had little alternative but to sit and take the punch. get a handful o' planes in the air and then abandon the airfield? is a dramatic message from US. zor fight so dogged to deny the number o' tomahawks reaching the site or the capacities o' land-based radar to identify targets is all just your typical misdirection nonsense. is illustrative. HA! Good Fun! ps am thinking trump deserves more criticism for his reversal insofar as syria is concerned. how many thousands has died in the conflict in syria before the most recent chemical weapon attack? syria has used chemical weapons in the past, but for some reason trump seizes on this most recent syrian excess to change policy? yeah, our suspicion o' trump has us looking for other motives than his humanitarianism. nevertheless, our suspicion o' trump doesn't mean the syrian chemical attack didn't happen. doesn't mean the US didn't respond with highly accurate and reliable tomahawk weapons which, as has been noted many times now, ain't ideal for knocking out an airbase, but keep US service people out of harm's way and allow for increased proportional future responses.
  21. It's like we're both talking to a brick wall. "a custom, principle, or belief distinguishing a particular class or group of people, especially a long-standing one regarded as outmoded or no longer important." Now a question for you: Have you ever read "Propaganda"? It's not the "warm fuzzies about IE games" that's important; it's the unconcious connections that people naturally draw between the Infinity Engine and Baldur's Gate, specifically. Not everyone, not all the time--but enough people, enough of the time. *groan* it is sexy women in beer commercials taking off their clothes. your illustration. your metaphor. when discussing the qualities o' beer or the brewer's fulfillment 'pon promises regarding the qualities o' beer, only the complete yutz points to the sexy women in beer commercials taking off their clothes. you are identifying a generalized marketing approach. can't use specific, 'cause as we has identified now a dozen different freaking times, obsidian never did use the shibboleth in question. game publishers and developers sell using nostalgia? *feigned shock* 'course they do. is still impossible to blame obsidian for using "spiritual successor" 'cause they never did. use nostalgia in general? sure. so what? point to the general marketing approach as meaningful when discussing the qualities o' games or beer is idiotic. people keep using "spiritual successor" in context o' poe as if it has meaning and value. in spite o' being a bit of marketing puffery (which obsidian didn't specific use anyway) there is a class o' folks who continue to attribute qualities and features to a phrase which don't have any such meaning. is shibboleth. reveals something 'bout the person who uses phrase. if not using simple to identify the crpg Marketing equivalent sexy women taking off their clothes, then is being used false. shibboleth. general speaking, "spiritual successor" is a highly subjective descriptor representing no inherent qualities or features. use such a descriptor to identify any game is pointless. may have value to an advertiser or seller who is going for feel, but to fault or laud a game developer for "spiritual successor" failure or achievement is ridiculous as the phrase is representing vague, nebulous and elusive qualities which will vary significantly from player to player. your intentional partial "magic" quote makes even worse as specific speaking o' poe, the developers were selling the nostalgia for at minimum, a half-dozen different game releases. is more than a few folks who think ps:t were the bestest game ever who at same time also think bg were dreck. shibboleth. you are talking generalized marketing 'bout selling nostalgia. fine. Gromnir keeps identifying how in discussion 'bout the game itself, to keep referring to the sexy women in beer commercials who take off their clothes makes the person look foolish. HA! Good Fun!
  22. so not getting through. seeing as how we never denied obsidian were using warm fuzzies for ie games to sell poe, your explanation post is pointless. do you know what is shibboleth? HA! Good Fun!
  23. *sigh* gonna do the repeat thing, eh? "kinda missing the point on shibboleth. first, obsidian never said it, but more important, as we keep repeating, it means nothing to say "spiritual successor." in the bit kat21 left out o' his quote, there were mention o' iwd and planescape as well. so, if the "magic" bit is indeed akin to "spiritual successor," then poe were intended to be the spiritual successor o' three different games. use Gromnir's quote from kickstarter and poe becomes spiritual successor o' all the old roleplay games obsidian developers liked to play? perhaps somebody has claimed the new mummy movie is the spiritual successor o' all the old-timey horror and monster films folks like. uh, ok. what exact is the point o' being the spiritual successor o' multiple games. oh, and bg already had a spiritual successor: bg2. "am thinking you don't know what is shibboleth, but suggesting there is some kinda fundamental quality o' a "spiritual successor" is silly and revealing something 'bout those who use the phrase as 'posed to having any meaningful use in game development discussions. kat 21 accurate likens the use o' phrase to the inclusion o' hot girls in beer commercials. he/she is correct. the girls don't reveal anything 'bout the qualities o' the beer. even the dumbest purchasers is not gonna expect hot girls to sudden become attracted to a purchaser o' beer. so, you are the guy actual buying the beer for the hot girls? the shibboleth in question is, at best, nostalgia inducing puffery when it is utilized... not that obsidian did use. furthermore, what is the qualities o' a spiritual successor? do you know? is it possible for anybody hearing you says "spiritual successor" to know what essential qualities you is referencing? no? then is not a particular useful descriptor. "you, like others, has globbed onto a meaningless turn o' phrase that obsidian never even used. congrats on dragging out and proving shibboleth." so again, obsidian clear avoided claiming spiritual successor-- never actual used such a phrase. possible 'cause phrase is meaningless? "spiritual successor" to what? a collection o' more than a half dozen crpg releases? at best you got some kinda vague notion o' nostalgia being sold by obsidian. no disagreement, but that hardly makes "spiritual successor" any less a shibboleth. given we don't even have a specific idea o' what poe were 'posed a "spiritual successor" to, the phrase itself has no meaning. is sexy women taking off their clothes in beer commercials. is vague nostalgia. is a list o' essential qualities which is gonna change depending on who you ask. meaningless. use and defend "spiritual successor" don't say anything 'bout poe, obsidian or even the meaning o' "spiritual sucessor." keep using and defending "spiritual successor" does actual say something 'bout the folks using and defending. shibboleth. HA! Good Fun!
  24. https://twitter.com/jesawyer/status/839187923937304576 perhaps add a maritime version o' wells fargo stagecoach to explain the cowboy hats... and forthcoming duster. regardless, whichever faction makes most sense for our "wild bunch" party will get the nod. HA! Good Fun!
  25. kinda missing the point on shibboleth. first, obsidian never said it, but more important, as we keep repeating, it means nothing to say "spiritual successor." in the bit kat21 left out o' his quote, there were mention o' iwd and planescape as well. so, if the "magic" bit is indeed akin to "spiritual successor," then poe were intended to be the spiritual successor o' three different games. use Gromnir's quote from kickstarter and poe becomes spiritual successor o' all the old roleplay games obsidian developers liked to play? perhaps somebody has claimed the new mummy movie is the spiritual successor o' all the old-timey horror and monster films folks like. uh, ok. what exact is the point o' being the spiritual successor o' multiple games. oh, and bg already had a spiritual successor: bg2. am thinking you don't know what is shibboleth, but suggesting there is some kinda fundamental quality o' a "spiritual successor" is silly and revealing something 'bout those who use the phrase as 'posed to having any meaningful use in game development discussions. kat 21 accurate likens the use o' phrase to the inclusion o' hot girls in beer commercials. he/she is correct. the girls don't reveal anything 'bout the qualities o' the beer. even the dumbest purchasers is not gonna expect hot girls to sudden become attracted to a purchaser o' beer. so, you are the guy actual buying the beer for the hot girls? the shibboleth in question is, at best, nostalgia inducing puffery when it is utilized... not that obsidian did use. furthermore, what is the qualities o' a spiritual successor? do you know? is it possible for anybody hearing you says "spiritual successor" to know what essential qualities you is referencing? no? then is not a particular useful descriptor. you, like others, has globbed onto a meaningless turn o' phrase that obsidian never even used. congrats on dragging out and proving shibboleth. as for the second half o' your post, you gotta recognize you is marginalizing self, yes? Gromnir were in fact responding to your complaint 'bout surfeit o' tactical depth. fine. you not see poe or or the ie games or wasteland 2 as particular good examples o' squad-based tactical combat in rpgs. again, fine. given such low opinion o' poe tactical combat, why are you so fixated on a graze mechanic in potd? makes no sense to us whatsoever. the potd feature is an extreme cheap way for obsidian to give the hardcore player a bit o' a challenge. is not 'posed to be balanced. your complaint is becoming increasing nonsensical. again, am in agreement that 'cause o' potd increased mobs and bloated foe accuracy, a handful o' encounters involving enemies which confer debilitating status effects become significant more difficult than other trash mobs. for reasons stated ad nauseum in previous posts, your solutions to an extreme limited problem strike us as impractical and excessive. am doubting we are gonna reach agreement. if you ask ten different potd players how they deal with stuns, you are likely to get at least five different answers. one o' the good things 'bout poe is the wide range o' player options. the game has many abilities and synergies. assuming a solution is narrow is a mistake. HA! Good Fun!
