  1. you didn't seriously go there, did you? HA! Good Fun! ps well, for all the folks who thinks they managed to escape injury, tomorrow is actual when you will know if your eyes is damaged.
  2. our President, staring at the eclipse with naked eyes. an aide in the blue room is heard shouting, "don't look!" the President then dons appropriate safety glasses. ... the funny thing is, the 20-30% who admit they will agree with trump regardless o' what he actually says, will somehow see the above image as proof o' trump toughness or independence or something similar. HA! Good Fun!
  3. somebody had to take the bullet. ... wth. HA! Good Fun!
  4. our heart has been nagging us constant of late. "eat your veggies." "cut back on salt." "another 30 minutes on the bike won't kill you." etc. nag. nag. nag. finally got sick and tired o' our heart, and so we made bacon-wrapped mac & cheese balls. deepfried. made six of 'em. ate 'em all. was gonna make slaw, but then we recognized cabbage and carrots as vegetables. let our heart know who is boss... though am suspecting 'round 2:00 AM we may come to regret our gastronomical rebellion. HA! Good Fun!
  5. rookie. mess the place up worse and then claim you were robbed. problem solved. HA! Good Fun! ps if shady has been hankering for a new game console or computer, those can be disappeared as stolen booty during the "robbery." darn thieves also stole/destroyed those ugly sweaters your in-laws sent you for christmas two years ago. another win for shady.
  6. gonna admit we don't recall supertrain, but we do 'member phoenix. am embarrassed to admit we liked phoenix. had some similarities to the incredible hulk with the protagonist seeming curse to travel on foot from town to town, solving the locals problems while dealing with a larger quest. the greatest american hero were released kinda at same time as phoenix, but it lasted longer and were more campy. watched fantastic voyage, but am pretty sure we had no idea what it were 'bout. time travel and the bermuda's triangle... or maybe not. was it on at the same time as logan's run? HA! Good Fun!
  7. am thinking folks is gonna be surprised when they discover how the zeke elliot decision were reached. were not goodell in a vacuum. "The league’s four outside advisers in the case also attended. They were identified in the league’s letter to Elliott as Peter Harvey, the former attorney general of New Jersey; former NFL safety Ken Houston, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame; Tonya Lovelace, the chief executive officer of Women of Color Network, Inc; and Mary Jo White, a former federal prosecutor and former chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission." these folks came to a consensus decision regarding elliot violation o' nfl policy and then goodell interviewed 'em separate. the cba doesn't require guilt beyond a reasonable doubt and innocent until proven guilty has never been a standard applied serious outside a courtroom in any case. mom sees the broken lamp in the living room and she ain't calling in investigators to prove whether billy or betty were at fault. your neighbor manages to avoid a sex trafficking charge thanks to a bad warrant and who amongst us asks him to watch over your kids for a few hours while you run back to the office to get your missing laptop? folks should realize the league's personal conduct policy is at issue and not the state o' ohio's criminal code. in the next few days, is gonna become known just how different were this process compared to the ray rice non-suspension/suspension. hopefully some folks is open-minded and honest enough to consider the possibility the nfl got it right this time. might wanna wait to judge 'til more is known. HA! Good Fun!
  8. bills trade top wr and cb for draft picks and scrubs. even if the trade works out for the bills in the long run, gotta suck to know bills management has already thrown in the towel on 2017-2018. HA! Good Fun!
  9. *snort* airwolf and blue thunder were competing tv shows both based on a 1983 movie 'bout a kinda covert police helicopter, blue thunder. the blue thunder tv show, cast including bubba smith, **** butkus and dana carvey, were vast superior to airwolf. ... actual, we can't say which show were better as we didn't actual watch much of either. did see the original movie though. even so, a **** butkus, bubba smith, dana carvey dramatic tv show 'bout an urban stealth helicopter sounds like can't miss tv to 2017 Gromnir. broadcast tos star trek were before our time, but we do recall, on our summer trips to chicago, watching the man from atlantis and the six million dollar man. battlestar galactica were a bit later. were earliest broadcast scifi for us. from time we were in high school, tos were kinda a mainstay on weekday afternoon tv. would need to rush home from football/track practice if we didn't wanna miss the start o' star trek. right before/at dinner time would be re-runs o' tos star trek. musta seen every episode dozens o' times. didn't have a tv back home in pine ridge, but when we visited family in chicago, we would sit in front o' tv for hours at a time. best tv stuff we recall were the ubiquitous saturday afternoon "horror" and kung fu movies. there weren't much genuine horror movies on during saturday afternoons, but there always seemed to be the abbot and costello "meet" movies playing. were also much danny kaye and similar vaudeville kinda guys. became a big danny kaye fan thanks to saturday afternoon tv. even so, is possible a high point: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVYGHHc0Es4 arguable better than the original fembots from bionic woman. HA! Good Fun! ps we also recall the cathy lee crosby wonder woman tv movie, but that is 'bout as far back as we can recall o' specific tv.
  10. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/20311316/jacksonville-jaguars-rb-leonard-fournette-says-debut-was-really-easy maybe not the sharpest pencil in the box. pre-season is defenses and offenses playing most vanilla packages possible, and the vets is playing at 80% effort... at most. am suspecting a few afc south linebackers has unneeded bulletin board material in anticipation o' playing 'gainst the jaguars. sadly, the guy most likely to pay for fournette mouthiness is blake bortles, who will no doubt be digging his chin strap outta his ear after the rookie running back whiffs on blocks 'gainst defenders coming on unexpected blitzes. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/20302469/ezekiel-elliott-dallas-cowboys-suspended-six-games appeal down to 4? HA! Good Fun! ps is gauche, but am gonna indulge in "i told you so." even on these boards we warned 'bout off-the-field issues when zeke were drafted. is not a surprise.
  11. *chuckle* hollywood has not changed their overall scheme for a long time. has always done sequels. has always followed successful formula with more pictures embracing formula. has always been an emphasis on hero myth, whether it be swashbuckler, cowboy, religious martyr, soldier or superhero. is always folks lamenting the dearth o' quality movies from hollywood-- is mostly just noise from wannabe pundits. is as many good films being made today as were in the 50s or 80s or whenever. the long run? this is the long run. has been the long run for decades. if you see changes from hollywood, is gonna be most related to the form the media takes. technologies will result in changes to how movies is presented. those technological changes will have unexpected impact on the content o' movies. even so, am expecting hollywood will always have an advantage insofar as production values is concerned, and with the larger investments involved in hollywood films, you will likewise see a tendency to go with content which has been successful since man first started telling stories millennia ago in fire brightened caves. HA! Good Fun!
  12. quick correction: the ancient one were originally an asian man in the comics, but in the movie, she were a celtic woman. is noteworthy that the change of the ancient one from asian to tilda swinton, arguably the whitest woman on the planet, resulted in significant negative backlash and widespread accusations o' whitewashing. *shrug* oh, and as an aside, the most annoying pandering to the chinese we has personal seen in a movie were the additions to the martian. the selfless and humanitarian chinese helped save the day in the movie version. such scenes were not in the book. clear were added solely to makes the movie more attractive to a chinese audience. if am recalling correct, the recent ghostbusters reboot were not shown in china for the announced reason o' the depiction o' the supernatural and ghosts. the great wall (or whatever it were called) with matt damon were a bomb. as much as hollywood attempts to replicate success by reusing same old formula, it likewise avoids failure like some kinda misbegotten leper. sure, am expecting a continuation o' the trend o' movies to throw an occasional bone to chinese audiences in the guise o' chinese actors and pro-chinese plot lines, but serious west-chinese film partnership may go into a kinda hibernation. as to the original issue, diversity, in general, sells. wonder woman did well. as bad as were lucy, it also made money. atomic blonde? dunno yet. regardless, hollywood has figured out that men like to watch hot women kicking arse. *feigned shock* the thing is, women apparently like to watch hot women kicking arse too. ubiquitous supermodels in movies were offensive to women a few years ago, but female action heroes is somehow empowering? whatever. don't ask too many questions. the point is we expect to see a whole lot more female action stars just as long as such movies make money. oh, and moviegoer demographics does not match national demographics. compared to national demographics, a few ethnic groups is disproportionate more likely to go to movies. gotta be kinda obtuse to fail to notice how successful has been the fast and furious franchise, yes? diverse casts and terrible acting is trademarks o' those films, and yet they is universal's most successful franchise to-date. personal, am not caring 'bout diversity in movies. denzel washington as don pedro in much ado about nothing? why the hell not? will give denzel washington the benefit o' the doubt 90% o' the time. bad acting. bad direction. bad production values. such stuff bothers us, but take some kinda source material and make a change to increase diversity while also acquiring good acting talent, then am not seeing a downside. where diversity forces a bad actor or director into a project, then Gromnir grumbles, but otherwise... meh. diversity is good for the bottom line, so as long as it don't impact quality, we have difficulty seeing a problem. HA! Good Fun!
  13. Apathy is my way of life, man. You burned out early in life! again, can always find a suitable simpsons reference. HA! Good Fun! ps weird thing is, Gromnir ain't watched the simpsons for over a decade.
  14. I would have immediately gotten it manifested and yourself would be two folks we suspect would instant recognize. even so, apologies for failing to recognize your encyclopedic star trek knowledge. "shaka, when the walls fell." will be more careful in the future. HA! Good Fun!
  15. we were speaking of broadcast tv, so... w/o explanation, make a challenge o' "hey riceball, i will meet you in the slot at 0630," and am pretty sure folks would simple think us were being cultural insensitive. HA! Good Fun!
  16. if Gromnir had lamented how general mcmaster were playing the part o' the traveler to trump's mr. kosinski, particular w/o any reference to tng, am thinking it would be fair to state our reference were dated. but honestly, even folks who watched alias a decade and more ago might not have instant recalled momma derenko or prophet five. makes you feel better if next time we go with a baa baa black sheep reference? HA! Good Fun!
  17. Thanks Obama! to be fair, the current employment rate has very little to do with any recent President, save for clinton. clinton's bank deregulation (yes, it were championed by a democrat president) were the major cause o' the recent economic downturn. otherwise, Presidents have had only minor impact on such numbers. blame market forces and Congressional impotence would be more appropriate. obama's stimulus actual likely prolonged the economic crisis, but not by a huge degree. 'course such did have measurable impact on the ever growing deficit, so chances are in 5-10 years you will be cursing President ______ when you should be blaming obama. Presidents get too much blame and too much credit. and usual the wrong President gets the blame and credit. HA! Good Fun!
  18. graph shows we ain't even back to pre-housing bubble burst. use 2008 as your benchmark is kinda wacky. from wod source: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/what-is-the-real-unemployment-rate/ kinda funny, but were trump who were claiming the real unemployment rate in early 2016 were +40%. can do all kinda fun things with numbers. no doubt will confuse the hell outta gifted. HA! Good Fun!
  19. is bad logic, but comforting, to see all "fear reports" as somehow identical in value. a positive and a negative cancel each other out, or some such nonsense. you not like the content o' the report and chances are you can find a report condemning the exact opposite danger. sure, such ain't actual what happened above with your linked article as you misidentified the danger, but even so, you ain't alone in finding illusory comfort in conflicting "fear reports." could be worse, gifted could subscribe to the inevitability o' doom. why worry if we is all doomed anyways, yes? HA! Good Fun!
  20. outrage at robots would be curious as the article linked observes how "costs remain too high for robots to replace most farm work for low-value crops." perhaps outrage should be directed at stephen miller and donald trump who eschewed facts in favor o' a "common sense approach" to arrive at the conclusion lower-income and low-skill american workers would benefit from the void left by absent foreign labor. is gifted shocked that american workers don't wanna fill those open farm labor jobs? doubt it. *shrug* has been our opinion that immigration reform is needed, but our conclusion were diametric opposite o' the wh. need more legal immigration as 'posed to less. fearmongering has the wh advocating the exact opposite kinda reform we need. regardless, if you got concerns 'bout farm labour, your outrage likely should be directed at trump as 'posed to robots. sure, we all know our evil robot overlords is simple biding their time until skynet is activated, but am doubtful the ai apocalypse will come at you in the form of automated lettuce weeders. HA! Good Fun!
  21. can't help but be reminded of the following: not funny
  22. is not so much your ignorance as Gromnir's age. is a bit dated for a pop culture reference, but am suspecting a few folks will recognize w/o google. HA! Good Fun!
  23. see the picture and Gromnir wonders why he is the only person alarmed that kgb/prophet five managed to get irina derevko so deep into the wh inner circle. HA! Good Fun!
  24. got little experience with the south. in the late 80s we did a kinda tour o' the US while on our football recruiting visits. the overt racism shocked us. sure, we had experienced racism in the dakotas and when we lived in chicago, but the south were... different. southern racial bigotry were kinda a smouldering, ubiquitous and accepted part o' daily life. shocked us a bit. have been back to the south (not often) in more recent years, but have never been able to shake our earliest impressions that the south ain't no place for an oglala and catholic kid with a big mouth and a chip on his shoulder. in the 80s, southern hospitality woulda' had us, best case scenario, beaten senseless and left for dead in a roadside ditch outside o' nashville or gainesville. HA! Good Fun!
  25. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcjkaQRuIuI smoke if not fire. cris carter claiming zeke destroyed evidence in addition to beating his girlfriend.
