  2. Hah ... they lost everything ... Bremen and Stralsund ... and Norway ... till only Stockholm and a bit of countryside were left. But the original question was about dubbing computer games, films, and translating books ... well, with Germany, I can at least see the economic aspect behind it. Germany has 80 millions of inhabitants, and it's an important market for videogame producers. Hence, delivering translated German versions of videogames is economically reasonable; the revenues make up for the costs of German translation and dubbing.

And I cannot deny that both Undersigil and the so-called 'Prison area' beneath Curst didn't contribute to roleplay at all ... which is most unfortunate since it's mandatory to get through that boring and combat-heavy 'Prison area' ... I am more forgiving with Undersigil. I know that the devs wanted to make it part of several sidequest that were cut from the final version, or weren't even ever implemented ... but, fortunately, the player is not forced to go there.

No ... there's nothing rushed in PS: T ... and even if it feels rushed after you get out of Ravel's maze, that's only because the 'worlds' (planes) and cities you visit then are smaller than Sigil ... Once you get out of Ravel's maze, the game acceletates its pace, it gets faster ... but not rushed. And the ending, very much unlike the KotOR ending, does not leave any questions open. Everything is tied together; every party members fate gets an explanation, and even if TNO's original crime is not explained in detail - everything gets a solution. And please don't tell me anyone that it was in any way relevant to the story what TNO's original crime has been ... it's enough to know that it was so horrible that the Planes still suffer, and that he merits his condemnation to the Eternal Blood War. And yes ... I do not know if PS: T is the best CRPG ever ... but I'm quite positive that I've never seen anything as touching and as well-conceived as PS: T in a RPG ... never. Not yet.

  7. Someone made a joke about Star Wars in a Leisure Suit Larry setting ... ... actually, that's about the only type of game that would definitely not work with the Star Wars license. Point-and-click adventures just ... don't have the rhythm that Star Wars needs. They're too slow.
  8. Urgh ... you're right. I'm just playing thru' for the first time with a female char: and frankly, Disciple's portrait looks like ... like the portrait of a man who drinks too much. Hence the puffy, flask cheeks and the bloodshot eyes ... :'(
  9. ... yes ... all this happens without any explanation, and very sudden. But it's supposed to happen like this ... except for T3-M4 coming in to help you. That should not have happened ...
  10. Yes. You should be able to see your defense go up if you boost your wisdom ... by wearing the Circlet of Saresh, for instance ... If even that does nothing, then you've hit another bug.
  11. Yes ... I only repair him to get him out of the storage room, so that he won't stand in Mira's way later in the game. Maybe he was supposed to have more personality and backstory than he actually has (in KotOR 2), but again, that never made it into the released version of the game ...

I have met many people who were like HK-47: they loved their work, and they knew two or three jokes they reiterated over and over again ... and if nobody laughed, they would repeat the joke once more ... And about HK-47 being my only honest party member: that's true. Probably due to his lack of personality.
  14. How about a game based on the Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings engine? Let's call it Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds. I'm sure it's going to be a big success ... (w00t)

  17. do oppinions differ or what??? Yes. No, no: he bores me as a fictional character. You know, when I talk to Atton, or to Kreia, or to whomever in the game, they would have something to say that surprised me. Something I had never expected. Something that shocks me. But with HK-47, I can always tell what he will say next ... Hm. I didn't have the impression that he was 'driven'. He's supposed to be a killer droid, and he likes killing: straight and simple. No contradictions, nothing ... just a machine that runs smoothly. All the other characters in my party know fear and doubts, they have ambitions, and sometimes they are depressed. HK-47, on the other hand, just talks and talks and talks. Even T3-M4 has more personality than HK-47; T3-M4 has his little secrets and his fears. HK-47 just obeys. He's not even 'violent'. He only kills when I kill ... and if I tell him not to kill, then he won't. He's so terribly submissive. Well ... just my personal opinion.
  18. Peace! :D But seriously, I think there's something wrong with HK-47. In the original KotOR, he already was a lousy shot, a mediocre translator, and a terrible comedian ... and now, in KotOR II, he still reiterates the same joke over and over again. Okay, he shoots better ... but he talks even more ... and while he talks I get drowsy ... and I can already tell that the final pun line will be something about 'atomizing meatbags' ... once more.
  19. I don't love him. Why should I? He knows exactly three jokes (one about 'Masters', one about 'meatbags', and one about 'atomizing civilians'), he has no personality, and his lengthy explanations about backstabbing make me weary. I seriously consider keeping all these HK-parts to myself, instead of re-installing them.
  20. Just to say something in the defense of Vrook ... no. From what I have gathered from KotOR I, he would have had Revan rot in a cell instead of setting him on a new mission to re-discover the Star Forge. He was the only one who actually opposed to Revan being (re-)trained as a Jedi ... he would never have given Revan a second chance, unlike the others. I think that Master Vandar Tokare (the Yoda-looking Jedi Master from KotOR I) could always overrule Vrook's opposition. But now, with Vandar lost on Katarr, Vrook runs loose ...
  21. I ... well, I could not like him ... but I think his story was even more than interesting. It was him who made me understand that the Republic (like any other real-world nation) is dependent on her economy turning smoothly - and that a choice taken with the best intentions can turn out to be a bad choice nonetheless if it harms the economy ... Now this is some depth of thought I've always missed in the Star Wars universe - and it was even in the game! The idea that all my Lightside goody-goody behaviour could actually be dangerous to the Republic ... gave me goosebumps. I love it when a game does that to me.
  22. Yes ... scroll way down in your inventory; the mask is in the lowest section, somewhere near your Pazaak sidedeck where all non-useable items are. I should check into how many components I could break this useless thing down to make a gun out of it.
  23. You still trust Kreia?? Yes, I do; the moment she died she probably said the truth. - And even before: she never lied to me ... although I have to admit that she lied to the Handmaiden. Hmmm ... now that sounds convincing. If she can't tell anything about Bao-Dur, then there's really some hope that Bao-Dur can be back in KotOR III, and can go with the Exile (or the next Hero) to the Ends of the Galaxy and beyond. Yes, General!
  24. Yes. You can only enter the tomb if you are strongly commited to the LS or the DS. You do not necessarily have to have achieved mastery, but your orientation should be clear.
