  1. Is Fallout 1 worth playing, if I haven't played any of them ?
  2. Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics
  3. Why wouldn't it work? I've got DirectX9.0c and this requires DirectX6.0 !
  4. Why? One of the major complaints about NWN was the SP campaign. If they're planning on making that one of NWN2's strengths, I'm not seeing what the problem is. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, it's not clear from the abstract whether the differences between the NwN2 SP campaign and the NwN OC "won
  5. Now System Shock 2 sounds like my kind of game. Excellent: I like a game where the atmosphere is more important than the graphics (good ol' Deus Ex was a y2k game.) I haven't played SS2, so I will definitely be buying now. This is a great idea! Any more reviews?
  6. So no-one has bought a Citro
  7. Four legs good, Two legs bad.
  8. Well, one of the female characters obviously has her handbag with her. In case you haven't been introduced to the handbag, it is the modern equivalent to the bag of holding, whereby an entire room full of make-up, accessories, personal possessions, electronic gadgets and medicines, to name a few types, can be stored safely. (The search and recall functionality is limited on some models, but I'm assuming the KotOR models have the latest Find heuristics.) :D
  9. Also some here: Knights2end.com
  10. I like the little waving smiley, too.
  11. There is progress on the content patch. In the meantime you can download some bugfixes that weren' inlcuded in the 1.0b patch, here onKnights2end.com.
  12. I've just updated the access permissions for remote linking to those files so you should be able to initiate a download from the thread at knights2end.com now just by clicking on the links. They should also now redirect to a temporary download page if direct linked elsewhere. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Excellent, thanks for the link -- it's good to see all those bugfixes in one place.
  13. So, we will see it by the time NWN 2 is released? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My guess is it'll be around the same time that KOTOR3 is half thru production. " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So when K3 is released, then. "
  14. Ever heard of the Search function? Do you know how many times this has been posted? Try running the game with "movies" turned off and see if that makes a difference.
  15. Your interpretation of the available evidence is as good as anyone else's, to be sure. I think the ending of K2 was a -- poorly executed -- adequate ending from a plot point of view. I didn't like it, but that doesn't mean it wasn't sufficient to provide closure. It was just as apt as the ending to K1, just that the characters in K2 were of a different ilk. I don't think there is a basis upon which to build a case for a sequel from the state of the end of K2; more than likely any sequel would not mention K2 except in passing. I did want to add a caveat to your point I have quoted, above: by that logic there would never be an end to a series. Sure there is Final Fantasy XI. And Ultima X. But there also was only three Jedi Outcast titles, and iIrc the last one was the best. So by your logic there should be a fourth one of those. As for why the moderators have constrained the febrile ramblings of posters about the sequel to a few threads, well that's just being neat and tidy. Without this effort, the forum would be deluged in everyone's threads of how to make the next game better than this one.
  16. Use the search function, it is your friend. e.g.
  17. That is not an RPG in the mold of KotOR. It has elves, dwarves, orcs and magic. KotOR has The Force and Jedi.
  18. Feudal Japanese eating chocolate? But, cocoa is indigenous to the New World, and wasn't available until after feudal times. Sounds like a recreation: that's quite an anachronism.
  19. Interesting. Those who say all men are equal speak the greatest truth if they mean that all men have equal right to Liberty, to the possession of their goods, and to the protection of the Laws - but, equality is at once the most natural thing and the most chimerical thing in the world; natural when it is limited to rights, unnatural when it attempts to level goods and powers - not all citizens can be equally strong - nor can they be equally wise - but they can be equally free. To be free is to be subject to nothing but the Laws! Voltaire I agree that the flaw of our modern democracies is treating everyone as equally important. Yes,everyone is equally free: that's a given. But just as their are heores in battle, physicists and chemists in science, charismatic leaders in politics, and even down-to-Earth people in the local pub, everyone has different gifts and talents. Voting should be more structured. The only saving grace for the existing system is that an extreme swing in public opinion will vote a party out of office; but all the governments in the countries I have lived in have been long, multiple terms (from the left and right of politics) that only ended when the public were thoroughly sick and tired of the incumbents. Perhaps a portion of the electorate could be elected (or randomly selected) to the task of being "voters", and their job is to be as informed as the politicians, like some sort of expanded professional jury. There is still opportunity for corruption, of course (I don't think any system would remove that): normal checks and balances would need to be added to ensure no systemic flaws were exploited by unscrupulous politicians.
  20. Oh. Eew. Eeew. Eeeeeeeew! I think that ranks right up among the most disturbing mental images EVER. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> you'd better keep away from the various fan-art threads, then.
  21. Mines. Lay 'em, leave the area, come back and disarm them. XP. Also, the floating droid mines don't give XP when you are blown up by them, only when you destroy them from a distance. Finally, there is a small amount of XP (but more importantly extra items) if you don't blow up the other droid in the locked area with T3 through the terminal, but instead go and get a mine to blow the door. That's about it. Don't forget, every locked door you unlock grants XP, too (security skill).
  22. I wonder if there originally were plans to have a Mature Rated filter of K1, where Saul had some extra dialogue along the sado-masochist lines ...
  23. I didn't start the thread, I'm just demolishing it in a logical and orderly manner. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Which is why you're taking it too seriously.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ... If I don't show Eddo the error of his ways, he ends up posting endless permutations of these hare-brained ideas EVERYWHERE. Trust me, the trouble with Tribbles ...
  24. Or those who've briefly turned off the meta-meta "the human race only knows how to tell seven or eight stories" filter. It can be fun to be surprised. I admit, though, that the more I know about story structure, the harder it becomes to do it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It would help if there were more incidental characters and better dialogue (to help bring the characters to life, quickly). GL has a talent for writing the worst dialogue in Hollywood, I think. Including the XXX industry. He really should learn to let go and delegate those things he's no good at to experts who are ... certainly any kindergarten pupil would not have trouble matching his wit, irony and depth of expression ...
