  1. There are console games that already respond to vocal commands. Again, there are plenty of PC games that are just silly twitch reflexes, where as there are console titles like Pucelle Tactics or Gladius that require a finer strategy. People shouldn't make blanket statements about an entire platform. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> :D I find you lack of taste disturbing. " No, but there seems to be an established marketing orthodoxy that stipulates consoles are for mindless FPS-type games only. Don't get me wrong, I would play any sort of game on any platform, so long as the medium didn't retard the experience. It's not my decision, however; it is the marketing wisemen who seem to have pegged the consoles as "thirty-minutes-to-kill-after-work-and-before-social-life" facilitators, and consequently there seems to be a dearth of deep entertainment for them. Certainly, the PC does have a natural advantage: consoles are seen as cut-down PCs with suped-up graphics (even though they display on tv resolutions) and no keyboard; whereas the PC started with games with no/very poor graphics and increasingly complex interactions to compensate. I would not be surprised to see some sort of portable mini-iPod-type device that handles telephonic, PDA and business functions of our lives (much as the mobile phone has become indispensible in little over a decade), and these devices being utilised for more and more complex entertainments, including games. It is not difficult to add a HUD ("eyephones" :D
  2. Oh, I'm up on Deck 6. (Miles ahead of you. )
  3. Very Japanese contemporary horror mythos ...
  4. How do you regard yourself as a geek, then? What geekiness do you possess? (Do you bite the heads of small animals in a circus?)
  5. Baley has a birthdays? Since when did someone become so sentimental as to nominate a birthday for a spambot? Just Kidding! You can expect to have several mood swings today. Some of the cause will be due to what the people around you are doing. Confusion will be the outcome if you don't communicate. Don't become introverted or you will not resolve anything. The Moon is in Leo making this an ideal day to entertain the people you enjoy spending time with the most. A little redecorating will make your place more inviting. Yes, she must be cold.
  6. OH NOOEES!!!11!!eleven!!1! A MUTANT EMAIL THINGGIE ...!
  7. I was actually being serious in case people who are new to the site or this thread didn't know her penchant for posting any and EVERY single thing she sees about K3, regardless of how credible the topic is. This last post of hers is the perfect example, quoting a user with ONE post to his credit who claimed to be from BioWare. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, much as I agree with your conclusion, the method you use to obtain it is not as sound as you might have us believe. If I were to adopt a guise for diseminating clandestine intel, I wouldn't use my usual everybody-knows-it's-me account; I would create a new one and use that. Still, it is patent nonsense that news of a sequel would appear on such a message board; having just outlined the tactic, the obvious place to deploy it would be on LA, Bioware or OE boards (or the third party developer who has won the K3 contract, of course). And Bastila, I know you are easily excitable, but posting every incredulous rumour from any crackpot is just an exercise in futility. Don't worry, if and when a developer is assigned, we'll all be in no doubt. Even if that takes a while from now to bear fruit, the plus side is there is less time to wait until the game is released. Welcome to the forum. What, no hooded robes and customisable lightsabre hilts? "
  8. Quantity is not a substitute for quality. What you state can easily be accomplished with a few party members; there is no need for twelve. And the problem with many party members, which you ignored, is that they characters seem doomed to be shallow; almost as if there is a set amount of effort for party members in the budget, and it is allocated regardless of the quantity. Under those circumstances I would rather have one decent party member than ten pointless ones.
  9. No, the rumoured validity is not high ... :D
  10. You can't be in, you have to be verified as a real person by five other spectral simulcra.
  11. There was a lot more in the game hidden in companion relations, but I agree there were too many poorly defined NPCs to really enjoy ...
  12. I wanna be the evil meglomaniacal simulation overlord controller ...
  13. Sheesh, you're not the only one. I claim distraction by TOMBS addiction ...
  14. Winter of 1901 sees an ominous build up of troops in the peaceful European states: Builds: TURKEY 4 = Build 1 ITALY 3 = Same AUSTRIA 5 = Build 2 FRANCE 3 = Same ENGLAND 5 = Build 2 GERMANY = 5 = Build 2 RUSSIA = 4 = Same See the first post for the map.
  15. Also, there seems to be little opposition to their current dominance in the market: looks like every third party is developing a game using Unreal, and the third generation engine looks pretty superlative ...
  16. The second one (that I am currently enjoying for the first time) is very Deus Ex, so if you liked Spector's work, you'll probably go for the System Shocks ... and the best news is that Bioshock (the third game of the series) is currently in development!
  17. :D (Awarded: TOMBS bonus +2 to posting speed) There is definitely a huge proportion of project casualties in the gaming industry. Not the most appealing characteristic of the sector. It certainly must dissuade both venture capitalists and raw recruits, as well as helping to burn out the essential experienced talent, who must become jaded ... in a small way it deminishes us all: no wonder big fat conglomerates thrive and publish derivative games devoid on innovation, there is no fat in the manufacturing process on which creatives need to feed.
  18. Until they improve the console interface to the point of parity with the PC (if and when such a thing might happen). Whilst the console is just ten buttons arranged for optimum twitch reflex, not much in the manner of cogent verbal interaction is possible. Still, I can foresee an advanced intuitive interface that helps convey all sorts of information, even verbal. Whether the console audience would be interested is another question ...
  19. Hey, don't spoil the plot! I haven't played it yet!
  20. I guess it might have been a good series. I never saw the beginning, and (although I appreciate their was an epic quality to the story and plot) so I only ever got frustrated with the tiny fragments of the show I saw ... reminded me a lot of DS9 (i.e. boring talking heads and alien political dissertations), and the glacial plot impulsion just made me snore ...
  21. I blame JE Sawyer. (What was the question?)
  22. Oh, okay, then. It appears to be your garden variety generic super-intelligent-meglomaniacal-computer-tries-to-take-over-the-world plot and you (the chosen one in the wrong place at the wrong time) have to kill it. After levelling up enough, of course. (I haven't played it yet, but the sequel runs very well on XP, so I played that one first. The original is DOS-based. )
  23. Yeah, they certainly aren't shy about the Half-Life footprint: last time I checked (with all the back catalogue installed) it was upwards of 12GB (including all of the co-op and mp), or something totally ludicrous like that. My imstallation currently stands just under 6GB!
