  1. Do I detect a SW quote? C3P0 in Cloud City?
  2. You only need three mushrooms and I found them in less than ten minutes. And that is the very first, basic Mage Guild mission if I recall. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Geez, you guys are ragging on me tonight! It was a demonstrative example. I took longer because I walked to the lake to do more than one quest simulataneously, okay? I explored the villiage, I looked around the periphery of it, and searched any and all sidetracks and underground areas (dungeons); I was interpolating these results to ascertain an approximate length of time for the 'shroom quest. (I thought one of the fungal types was near the lakey-thing? Then there was that girl who lost something. Not the one who lost her betrothed, outside the big crabshell villiage, the other one. I did like the dude with the super-jump spell, too.) Anyway, I'm sure you all didn't complete the quest in ten minutes the first time you played the game, which was what I was talking about. For the record, I ended up with about thirty six quests and no idea where I was going. And after the stupid 'shroomin, you have to find flowers or birds or some other dumb things. That's the problem, not the time taken to complete the quests: it's all just "rinse and repeat", ad nauseam.
  3. So you're just as screwed when spending your own as the rest of us, then?
  4. Not plasma ammo, then? Hmm, I want the plasma upgrade. (Where are the nanites? Attack, my chimps!)
  5. You have to be trained to do that? So that's what I've been doing wrong ...
  6. OMFG0RZ! I H3ard A RUm0R A80u7 A RUm0R th4t G30rG3 luC42 1S m4K1N' A 74lK1n' S74R W4r2 G4m3zor !!11! [/bastila Skywalker] :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wouldn't that be: OMFG0RZ! I H3ard A RUm0R A80u7 A RUm0R th4t G30rG3 luC42 1S m4K1N' A 74lK1n' K0t0rRzz0rz G4m3zor !!11! [/bastila Skywalker]
  7. The Chinese have deployed lasers to their armed forces. (To blind the opposition.) Didn't know about the lasers in Congo, I will endeavour to cross its path. The super-heated plasma seems to be similar to the weapons in Eraser. (No, not Eraserhead. The Arnie film.)
  8. Doing? I've got a diploma on my wall that says I should know the answer to this. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Debits on the left ... no, credits on the right ... no debits on the right ... damn, I always get that mixed up! " (I blame the international banking system; just because they all write their financial information from their perspectives, instead of the customers, all our debits and credits are backwards and upsidedown ...)
  9. His lack of a firm grasp of reality continues to amaze and annoy me. He is only making animated films because he hates actors, because they interpret the garbage scripts he writes in ways that he has not considered. I only hope the most memorable legacy of this foray into animation is stellar VO. If he manages to get that right, then there is hope for gaming in the short term.
  10. Because GL thinks that it looks pretty to have blaster bolts? Actually, I have never come across the definition of a blaster bolt before, which is why I ask. I always assumed it was some sort of laser / maser or possibly plasma. Considering that GL has veto on all design issues, and also considering there is sound in every space battle ( ), I don't hold the films up as templates for scientific sampling ...
  11. Sawyer is a Jonah! j/k Guys, I think you are overlooking the fact that some ludicrous percentage of games projects and development companies go belly-up in the aquarium (60%?) It's not one person's fault. (Well, that guy over there who only buys console games; him, the one who's picking his nose
  12. It can be. Just because there is a general trend to simplify the interface to three buttons, doesn't mean it has to be that way. And the PC comes with a 110-key keyboard included.
  13. Um, aren't you doing an accounting degree? Shouldn't you know who was ripped off ..?
  14. I think your thinking of sliders, but you got the concept wrong <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, Sliders was a nineties series; there was a much earlier one (seventies? early eighties?) and it was about a boat of shipwrecked people who get stuck in the Bermuda Triangle. The dude with the ray gun (he stole it from some alien early on, and it was the only weapon that they had, then they all got split up as well) looked like John Hurt (may have even been him).
  15. The Matrix is a core analogue for the TOMBS system; you should watch the first film (I believe it is a classic), because it will help you to grok the various TOMBS milieux ...
  16. Depends on the country: Australia has zero tax on software (or it did last time I was there), and hardware depends on the category (tvs being luxury 40%, iirc). You buy that stuff? I thought you just were on good terms with the dude in the charity shop ...
  17. Probably has a similar probabilty of success.
  18. Just do a Jedi jump (like Obi-Wan) and Go-go-gadget-legs outa there before the bullets come your way! If the blaster is accelerating coalesced super-heated particles in energy form, what velocity (in a vacuum and standard galactic atmosphere) does the particulate (?) / wave matter / energy stuff speed at? Surely it must be light speedish?
  19. Ebay = bad. I refuse to finance imbeciles who think they can bunk off working for the rest of their lives by flogging crap that no-one wants at prices that no-one pays to people who no-one knows ...
  20. See! Thief! :darque:  <{POST_SNAPBACK}> you'll be claiming building-scale demonlition traps and Rambowsque traps were your ideas, next. It's okay, let it go! There is no shame in having the same good idea as me. (No-one who can develop the next game is ever going to see these scribbles, anyway. :D)
  21. Dave Maldonado, StarCraft: Ghost Senior Game Designer :D Depends what you infer from "finished" ... "
  22. Just because you were the last to mention it doesn't mean you were the first. I wouldn't mind that scenario because it would rejuvenate the character and combat models. Also, I'd like to set Ramboesque traps that cut Jedi into little bits. (Why don't mines blow off the legs of people? There should be a lot legless ex-combatants around, just look at the results of extensive minefields in the Developing World ... )
  23. If it's possible for a Jedi to deflect a beam of laser light from a blaster (), then it shouldn't be too difficult to time the sweep of a lightsabre to vaporise the shrapnel cloud of a shotgun. I guess. Can't the Jedi use some sort of Force Wall to protect themselves from forces such as blasts, falling and crushing damage? The easiest way to get a Jedi is meta-combat: drug them and/or poison them ...
  24. Except one or both of them are dead. You're forgetting about the plot twist. About half-way through the game, the PC bumps their head, and starts to remember visions in their dreams ... (stop me if you've heard this one) ...
