I think the problem you would run into is capturing the "epic feel" of Star Wars. now, maybe that isn't really a problem going forward but it would represent a departure. I think a story based on a merchant (smuggler) who spends 3 movies stuck on a remote planet having to deal with a heretofore unknown race and even help them find a solution to their civil war would be interesting. more localized stories.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Of course it needs to depart fromthe children's tone of talking down to the audience about big stuff.

Thanks for that! (w00t) Listen, mush, they are televising the Sandhurst 1974 re-creation of Hitler's invasion plan of Britain (using some of the surviving German and British officers). Just like the Normandy landings of our timestream, 8000 German paratroopers, landed behind the defences whilst the stukas divebombed strategic military targets, rather than London. The coastal defences provided the planned delay of about 3hrs. Then came 7000 men and support. 90,000 German troops on British soil on first day. At this time, the Royal Navy arrives from its Orknay safe harbour (away from the pre-invasion stuka raids). No tanks meant that the Blitzkreig strategy was unbalanced. Critical moments: a third of German troops lost, just 60,000 left and the British forces had massed in front of them (with the Navy behind) meant that the week long invasion was (conveniently) defeated. And that's with old generals and Hitler's invasion plan. Just imagine how they would have done on their own merits!

The genius of Dracula is that the entire thing is written as diary entries by the various characters. From the very beginning they talk about how they've compared notes, and they can't really believe all that they have written, but just chosen present it as is. It's a very compelling literary trick by Stoker to make his own characters doubt the events of the story just as much or more so than than the reader will. I know everybody's seen the films and nobody's read the book, but I do advice it. Dracula is a classic for a reason, and it's not just because it's a good excuse for gory horror. Heck, Dracula didn't even have fangs until Christopher Lee put them on. Try watching Browning's 1933 version of Dracula with (in my opinion the best Dracula) Bela Lugosi. There are no fangs anywhere. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So that makes it a multi-perspective narrative: multi-protagonist. Assuming the subjects of the diary entries are the writers.
