What was Nartwak's (old) signature ..? "Bad writing is about sex and violence, good literature is about love and war." )

Um, I meant the really long title (which doesn't see to much match the one on the box). Has the novel been translated? Cause I'd like to read it, yeah. Charly Well, the direction hasn't aged well, some scenes are pretty bad while others are absolutely brilliant. Guess I liked the script and actors. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think I've seen that ... waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when ... certainly I have read Flowers for Algernon (beforehand, about 20 years ago) and enjoyed that very much. Edit: Fixed linkie.

I liked Bezerk. (Not so sure about those After-Dark screenavers, though ... ")

1. As you rightly note, the Enterprise is in constant jeopardy, so they should just be done with it and leave the saucer section behind. 2. The writers and actors were still finding their feet.

I have lost my father suddenly, too (and too suddenly, too). Hopefully your family will all be there for each other.

The first two seasons were AWFUL, though they did pick up a lot after that. I mean, what a dumb idea to have the saucer section come off. Which stupid writer thought that that would be useful in space? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Galaxy class starships are ships of exploration. With their extend stay in space, the crew of the ship were allowed to have their families to join them on their journey. The saucer section has the crew quarters in it. If for some reason the warp core or something else went critical, which was located on the lower part of the ship, they could separate the ship, saving lives in the process. I prefer DS9 over TNG, but TNG improved after the third season. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hee hee, thanks for the balloon help, Lucius. Unfortunately I know far too much about it: I still think it is a stupid idea. After all, the saucer section would need its own propulsion system, otherwise it would still be in the danger zone, surely? Another propulsion system creates far more complexity than is warranted. Time to halt the illusion and call it for what it is: a stupid writer's plot device that didn't work.

Would that be more properly termed a cackle, chortle or guffaw? Maybe a cuffawkle?

It is possible in my overt desire to will a good SF film out of the ether, I may have over-looked some faults in Serenity, but I still don't think all those other films you mentioned were "better" [edit: with the notable exception of The Matrix]. Sure, they may have been better when measured by the checkboxes of Hollywood cinematic "blockbuster"; but I still think the underlying concept is a winner. And fresh. And sure I am a little uncomfortable watching a teenage girl jumping around blithely as a mistress of violence (and therefore being associated with primal arousal): still it didn't arouse me, so I can simply say the film was "of its time" (as it is de rigueur to have ultraviolence and to sexualise young women, and sometimes both in the same character). But that does have a plausible explanation (advanced "hot-housed" child taught to be a weapon), so I can let that slide. (I agree it seems that Mr Wheadon has an unhealthy fixation on young girls, though, based on his

That was my first thought. Actually, myfirst thought was I hope that neither of those two passengers were either of your parents.

I see there is a downside to acting well in a terrible production. ^_^ PS Nice ears.

Yeah, even if they don't actually MAKE a game from the IP (which I would think is a very possible), there is NOTHING to stop the fans making mods. :Obligatory single emoticon expressing many emotions simultaneously, such as joy, poking fun, superciliousness, pride, and probably a dozen others ... :

NAND?!?? Did you actually use NAND in an English sentence?!!? EDIT: assuming you meant NOT (recommended, encouraged NAND condoned), where the NAND is a 3-input NAND over rec, enc and con, your expression translates to: Infanticide is recommended, encouraged AND condoned by Creative or Obsidian. Hmm, we need to fix the OR at the end into an AND somehow. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, I did use "nand" in an English sentence. I'll let you work out your own interpretation, however ...

[2]Yes. Yes. I like music where I may actually hear the lyrics, should I ever choose to listen to it. And it helps if the lyrics actually say something, too. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> [1] The theme, a nifty cello piece you can hear on the official site and the menus, was done by Remedy, along with one helpful cellist from Apocalyptica, the theme song(Late Goodbye) was just the in-game hit record everyone sang along to. Semantics, I know, but I don't like people correcting me when they are wrong. [2]They are so highly-praised by media that they've gathered a certain kind of reputation(along with they previous fans calling them sellouts, but meh). I just think they are really good at what they are doing. Their chosen genre and style. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> [1]It may be a remote possibility that I may not have been exactly one hunred percent correct in every detail of the above critique of your statement; any inaccuracies fo not infringe your Obsiian posting rights. [2]I think I like "Signs of Life" better, although the title track is pretty good. -
And there Hades you have hit on my excitement about the FF fan-base. Though the documentary may not appeal to non-Geckling Brown Coats , the fact of the matter is it demonstrates - to me at least - that the whole entertainment paradigm is changing. Though there are a lot of fan made movies now, it is clear that commercial, wide-spread endeavours can utilise the net and be marketable. In fact, I'd love to see Whedon skip the whole network nightmare and direct to the user. I feel the sale of the DVDs warrants this consideration. The problem is how much intellectual copyright has he released to Fox and Universal? Of course, Fox or Universal could be leaders and do this with an invitation to Whedon if he no longer has intellectual ownership (which I suspect is the case ). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I can see the plethora of NwN2 Community modules now ... ^_^

Now you are just being silly. That's the straight line ... the guy at the bottom would be crushed without some help. You'd need a pyramid. Say a triangular pyramid, and it would be 300,000,000 tall and (taking two people widthways to support one person vertically) about 600,000,000 for the bottom triangle, of the tetrahedron. 1/3 of these guys, multiplied by the upstanding guys gives the total volume of moon-punchers in our configuration. 200,000,000 multiplied by 300,000,000 is 60 million billion. Which is a lot more than the population of the Earth (unless you want to start digging up the recently dead, but they wouldn't be as tall and fall over).

Not enough people to reach it. Also, even if there were enough people, if the timing wasn't exact, then the moon could swing around and hit the people at the top in the back of the head.
