An unimpeachable source. It is turn-based and real-time (player-selectable, in the options screen). And it uses Special.

Can I recover my lost cd key from my computer?
metadigital replied to Karapeters's topic in Skeeter's Junkyard
What's the game? try installing it anyway, this might all be just paranoia on your part. If the key is stored in the Registry, it should populate the appropriate field when you are walking through the instalation. You can always contact the developer / publisher via email, web or telephone to ask them for a solution (if the game is still being published). -
They think it's all over ... it is now.

A beautiful film about a shallow little twerp's descend into madness|self-importance, or a blessed thinker's rise, fall, rise, repeat ad nauseam, or a tale of revolution, guts and proto-marxism, the people's darling dying on the cross. Suppose it all depends on one's perspective, bollocks, revolutionaries are (usually) boring. Judas' hanging is so much powerful and, in death, becomes a character one can relate to. Great scenery, great cast, great Jesus (Pasolini thought of Kerouac or Ginsberg for the role, imagine Jack wearing a crown of thorns and babbling them gospel lines), beautiful, at the same time faithful, at the same time empty, vapid and limp. The Last Temptation is indeed more interesting. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good phrase! A sort of anachronistic ideaological item. Lovely. And my words for the day were turgid and tumid. This is much better.

For those of you who are interested, I got an IM from Roleplayer just last night, and he was pleased with this as an example of geekosity (he called it gamer culture) spilling over into the mainstream consumerism. PS He is well and hopes to be back soon.

Tombraider (Midas's Palace level (7)): man ths game is good. There is no instruction, one is just left to one's wits and knowledge of Lara's abilities, and peception to find the next clue to the next advance in the plot ... and it is just a huge bunch of puzzles, strung out in a long series with the occassional pixelated fight and FMV for reward. It is clear to see how they screwed up in the sequels (though that is hindsight, admittedly), I shall enjoy seeing if the developers have returned to this template in the latest one (when it turns up in a day or so).

Are these developers trying to kill geeks, or something? Do they realise how many people will starve to death in a pool of their own waste with this sort of ploy?

Watching the Avellone interview makes me wonder what people are complaining about. Sure, there are games out there with better graphics, but not by much. And this game will allow multiplayer (four people, three AI companions and whatever conjured creatures they can produce) in scaled battles. And people recruited to staff the player's stronghold have a direct effect on the final chapter, not to mention they will be led into battle by the player's character. Seems to me some people just don't realise how much fun that will be, or are just enjoying making a fuss. " Oblivion comes close but no cigar. It is within the realm of possibility and if anyone can do it it is the Obsidian peeps. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well at least they have kept Special and turn-based for Fallout 3.

What happened to all the good space sims??
metadigital replied to Ginthaeriel's topic in Computer and Console
Jags proves his mettle and pees off the developers in one foul swoop; now they're going to make the game that much more difficult upon release ... :D -
Once I finish the manual (a rare task for me upon the purchase of a game) I will be pleased to play the tutorial. I also tried to register my copy on their website, but I can't for the life of me find the product key. They certainly hid it well ...

There's been a few dead dogs, after all it's been a few generations and no dog lives forever.

What a travesty of TOMBS. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for drowning it in spam. And really awful spam, too. Disappointed. Don't do it again.

Yet even more of my claims come true
metadigital replied to Epiphany's topic in Computer and Console
Two points. That's a nice bit of marketspeak. But it doesn't say exactly how "the specifications for the Xenos exceed those called for in Microsoft's Windows Graphics Foundation 2.0, aka DirectX 10". The X1900 doesn't have Shader Model 4 (which is, as far as I am aware, scheduled for DirectX 10). Also, even after Vista is released next year, there won't be any games taking advantage of the newer graphics standards; not because of the lack of hardware (though that will be a factor), but because no gaming developer will spend good money now on features that no one will appreciate until they get the GPU/computer/OS/whatever in several months/years' time. It's just not good business. (Better to spend that investment on something that the paying public can directly appreciate and experience, like story writing or bug fixing, even.) -
I'm expecting Hearts of Iron II:Doomsday to fulfill the whole left in my life since Civ 2 lost a place in my heart. It seems to be nicely complex and beautifully detailed and customizable hard-socio-politico-economic-historico-science, rather than the God-opera cartoon that Sid has turned his franchise into. Also just purchased the latest Tombraider (well, I'm still playing the original on my PSone) and Fahrenheit, because they wre on sale (

Yet even more of my claims come true
metadigital replied to Epiphany's topic in Computer and Console
The hardware is already above DX10 compliant - which is what I attempted to tell people here. The update will simply allow the hardware to fully utilize the DX10 features. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The hardware is ABOVE DX10 compliant? So it has Shader Model 4? Why ever hasn't ATi released a PC card to that standard, then? -
I suspect a lot of the appeal for you is the profuse profanity.

Ah man, he was funny.

Never had a need for V-Sync, it has only degraded the performance of my games so far. I hope to have a stupidly fast GPU soon, though, and that might make a difference ...

I thought you were addressing Blank, directly, then. Boy, Calax, I guess we'll never see you use conventions like Titles in Italics, will we.

Well, she'll never talk to you now.

Fortunately, Hades's opinion is not required nor wanted for a game's success.

I haven't installed too many since I lost all my games when my harddrive lost the plot. (When I lost Space Rangers 2.): Before that, I had unisnstalled Rome:Total War and especially the Barbarian Invasion expansion (never played more than one game of that: just wasn't fun not being a Roman fascist), because it was over 2GB. Having said that: I was happy to have Half-Life 2 removed, as it was up over 10GB ... the most memorably gleeful excision was a while back: Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne (what an horrific expansion). Since the hd loss, I have only installed Half-Life 2:Episode 1 (and Half-Life 2), Fallout and Scrabble. Though I just received Hearts of Iron II:Doomsday. Though I am keen to re-install (and re-start from stratch) Space Rangers 2 ...

Ah, internet sharing. Go talk to her before you become(in her eyes) that creepy guy who stares her at the mall/store whatever the place was. You know, even with equality stuff, chances are that she wont come to ask you out. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ... Especially if you are creepily staring at her in the mall over your laptop.

Hearts of Iron 2:Doomsday should be here tomorrow ...
