Zoma replied to funcroc's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
edit, wrong thread. Duh. -
Very very nicely presented with a GMod. http://www.tumeroks.com/what-if-team-fortr...ory-style-mode/ Edit Source comes from here: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/show...ad.php?t=819874 Screenies sample: Gameplay Loading Screen Quest journal Dialogue cut-scenes examples You got to admit it despite the hilarity and silliness, its impressive imagination.

In consideration of possibility that AP uses the latest Unreal engine build, I think the quality between PS3 and XBOX360 shouldn't differ too much or too far with exception of resolution size and anti-aliasing depth. However, it is as you said that the PS3 version tends to take far longer to develop in comparison to the 360 version and the PC which is easily ported to and forth easily. To express the issue of multi-platform of PS3 games, an Obsidian developer explained clearly the problem: A game made for PS3 has no difficulty to be ported to the 360. But if a game is made for a 360 in mind and then to be ported to the PS3 makes it technically difficult due to the differences of how the memory resource allocation architecture is set up. I'm not sure what is the situation for the PS3 port for AP will be presented, but there is possibility of delays involved just like many other PS3 games you mentioned. I suppose the only comparison can be made with an Unreal3 engine game would be the recent Mirror's Edge.

Again and again and AGAIN. But heyz, thiz iz internetz, take wordz with saltz yo dood?

Cool!! +1 Goran -We got swat turns ala Splinter Cell -Cover system similar to GoW/R6: Vegas -Stealth lethal takedowns -Crosshair in the shape of a circle instead of crosshair. Expands in size with every shot made. -Great animations 'cept for the disco walk Llyranor mentioned, lol Though personally I'm kind of hoping for more in-game footage that was being shown on TV while MCA and the chica were talking. It seems to be a much more stable build in comparison to the one shown on video where it has obvious framerate stutterings. Demo presentation of the dialogue system in real time would be great and I think should be the main spotlight for Alpha Protocol instead of the combat syste,. I wonder if GTTV would show some of it?

Its a multiplayer focused game. I doubt the single player would appease your needs and bots in such multiplayer games are not known to be great.

The game is using Unreal Engine 3 which is optimised for both PS3 and XBOX 360. That assure you at all?

How many more hours to go? Tell meeeeee! btw, Funroc vs Matt: 5 -1

I dunno man. If Hollywood have yet to manage surpassing the uncanny valley without the need to use dozens of computer just to process a thirty second image, I'm not sure if games are ready to break through the line just yet.

Alpha Protocol on GTTV next Friday

Mmmm. Good thing MT is designed as a Stud in polygonal presentation. Else all players will be bitchin'. If only though you could get face customization templates at the very least with FaceFX like Aliens RPG would had. -
Problem with Steam is its pretty difficult to distribute nifty nice stuffs like Collector's Edition since you'll only get the software. Plus if Steam ever falls apart one day from being hacked or such, your games are pretty much inaccessible until its back online. Furthermore its constantly relying on internet connection, so its another factor Steam is dependent on to keep its games running. Its not a perfect system, simply an alternative with both advantages and disadvantages to the present DRM schemes.

Yup. Latest patch lets you disable the tubes via options.

The difficulty of the game can be argued with the ressurection mechanic, but it doesn't change the Doom combat mechanic regardless.
-
I'm not sure what else can they add for Cryengine 3 though. You got to use ultra realistic textures, you have dynamic lights and shadows, you got insane physics for most vegetations, madz real looking water, lolwtf sound quality. I guess this one's just for further optimizations for licensing or console compatible. Otherwise its simply more of the same.

Wouldn't call Bioshock's combat a disaster. Its just pretty much average 'Doom' shooter template with a nice setting. You got a crosshair, you can shoot, you can collect and use all weapons like a rat packer. Just like Doom template minus dozens of enemies. Of course in comparison to great Call of Duty 4 which focuses on combat mechanics to make combat exciting, Bioshock is waaaaay behind it in standard. Personally, I hope Bioshock uses a proper physics system this time instead of one that is stuck at seeming 15 fps. The gameplay feels so jarring when you move about in 40 fps while watching and killing things flying in the air in physics motion at a 15fps.

Double you, Tee, EFFF man. Gods, not even the current GPU tech is able to put Crysis engine to the max setting at reasonable framerate yet.

DOA? Wut?

The presentation may seem simplified in comparison to ME's dialogue system, but on the other hand AP's dialogue system is far more dynamic based on real time decisions. For example, in the early demo presentation Obsidian had was providing a player several choices to get pass through the armed US Embassy guards to get to a key NPC. It goes on along the lines of like this (Based on my poor memory): Spoilers! At this point, the player who controls Mike could: A) choose to wait out by pressing nothing while the guard gets the needed confirmation from the peeps in the embassy, B) attack the guard to force himself inside instead to save time. C) Sneak pass the guard by finding other ways into the embassy like air vents, hacking terminals or just being good in sneaking. And unlike ME, the consequences will be apparent immediately in how the following scenario unfolds in the embassy. By choosing A, the waste of time results in the embassy being under attack by unknown assailants. But with your credentials proven to the Soldier, the soldiers engaged in the crossfire with the enemies are now your allies in combat. Choosing B however results in becoming an enemy yourself amongst the US marines. But it gives you a better chance to reach the NPC in time or actually results in reaching him on time. Unfortunately the action will have long term repurcussions and the US military would perceive Mike as a vigilante which affects future interactions with the said faction. By picking C would place the player as an unseen intruder which the soldiers would shoot you on sight if you allowed yourself exposed. But its not clear to me what consequence will there be for picking C since Obsidian chose A for the demo. So in short, unlike ME which the decisions only affect the ending or simply an increase in either Paragon or Renegade points, the decisions made in AP will affect the gameplay scenario. This is the goal which Obsidian is trying to achieve in Alpha Protocol and if it is executed as they claimed so, AP actually has far deeper impact and depth in the area gameplay of Choice and Consequences.

Riddick! <3 That game managed to slip from my radar. Danke. Its hosted on the 12th? Convenient, since we get another round of info from Spike.Tv on the consecutive 13th.
-
Mostly refering games soley for PC since its inconvenient to have consoles at my present living circumstances. Game of preference excludes sports and racing. I know there is a Fallout 3 DLC coming, but Bethesda's games doesn't interest me and the only things I've seen for F3 was screenshots. Never played yet. A possible Resident Evil 5 port for PC, but the dated gameplay design where you are unable to move aim and shoot turns me off. Is there even any notable PC games coming out at all in between until September? Dragon Age itself had been pushed back to Q4. So pretty much a bummer for me.
-
Any idea which date of March for the episode 10? September is truly so far away. There's no notable games in between as far as I know. Shucks. grumpy.gif

Yar. My bad. Correction. Could be International waters as well. There has been conflicting info. with the US side maintaining that they were in over the international water while the Chinese claimed it was in their water. Another example could be used was the accidental bombing(?) of the Chinese embassy in Belgrade. Regardless in short its very unlikely US and the Chinese will wage war with each other. But Russia on the other hand, I'm quite concern instead.
-
Actually. Its a two way thing and at the present, the US needs China more than the other way around based on the attitude of Hillary's visit to China. In order for US to pass the stimulus packadge, they need money which at the present depends much on other countries to purchase their Treasury bonds. China happends to be the largest buyer of the US Treasury bonds. Of course, the reality is both nations are inter-dependent with each other at the present. I doubt anything such as WW3 would happend. Heck, otherwise it already happened years ago when the US Spy plane crashed into a Chinese jet in Chinese waters.
