  1. Whoah. Those new pics ought to make those graphic whorers eat their words.
  2. "You are operating under Alpha Protocol." Seriously, the punch line needs to be delivered in a punchy manner. This one's lacking.
  3. I don't think its the issue of graphics, but rather the visual art design direction based on the setting in my personal opinion. A modern day espionage setting makes it very difficult to portray a fantastic visual world in games without seeming dull and bland(With exception of modern warfare setting it seems). Hence we see most games prefering to use Sci-fi, fantasy, Noir and Utopia setting as those worlds are beyond our reality's grasps capable of capturing our imaginations. But its not to say its not possible to make a great modern setting. I thought Splinter Cell succeeded in capturing the mood of the modern world really well, which Obsidian could had taken some pointers from in presenting AP's world.
  4. Keep fingers crossed. It took a full year afterall for Bioshock which is also based on Unreal 3 engine to be released for the PS3. Though I don't know of its quality port in comparison to 360. Regardless, if you feel concerned of the PS3 game quality, I will simply suggest you play it on the PC instead.
  5. Doubtful there will be extreme depth for CQC. I have yet to see games utilizing both sharp shooting and CQC combat mechanics since each of them takes alot of work with Devil May Cry series being an exception. It just comes down to unlocking more move sets with additional skill points like the flying knee, longer combos to break guardedmartial art capable enemies or granting possible access to use curved daggers. Logically, CQC is never meant to be used against a group of armed enemies, but rather isolated ones or enemies that got too close to you to aim and fire back quickly. Furthermore it serves as an alternative for silent bloodless take downs. So if you put your character into a situation where he is surrounded by heavily armed men, your best option is simply to run away to be honest.
  6. Its got great movement animations I thought. The fluidity in taking cover, switching weapon from left to right arm, the swat turn from cover to cover and the vaulting over walls all in one smooth motion. Heck, there's even climbing, dropping down from ladder and shift into a tumbling animation. The combat animation looks great as well. The only problem with animations now are simply the dialogue presentation which comes across stiff looking and firing animations looking somewhat jittery. The physics of the enemy getting blown away by a shotgun is too extreme and rather by relying on ragdoll animation, if possible they ought to use Euphoria animation to blend in a death animation. For the graphics department, J.E mentioned that it is the issue of being recorded with compressed video that turns out ugly, and even possibly a low frame rate problem(Need a dev for confirmation and explain for the latter's situation however). So for now its safe to presume that the graphics quality department would remain the same as 2008 E3's screenshots which is leagues far better looking than the video footage. Flash back to one year before thread of first screenies: http://forums.obsidian.net/index.php?showtopic=50204
  7. Delayed to fall? I wouldn't mind personally, the more time Obsidian gets to polish their work, all the better for all. Of course, this also means Obsidian should nudge Sega to step up on its marketing publicity for Alpha Protocol otherwise it'll be overlooked during Christmas.
  8. Definitely the lip synching. And I think conversation can be done in a much more natural manner by adding body movements with hand gestures instead of sole head bobbings.
  9. Heck. I find playing as the rogue little sister far more interesting. Imagine you could use the Adam as form of hiring splicers under your command, get them to collect scrap parts to improve the Big Daddy's weapon who is your bodyguard. Take over Rapture as the little wicked Queen. Its just like Overlord in Bioshock setting!
  10. And take downs with that curvey knife. But seriously, is there a need to use several take down kill animations? I believe a brief take down down animation like Splinter Cell works well enough in comparison to Tenchu's several take down animations based on directions.
  11. We need NPCs/Villains/Weapons of the week, nao.
  12. Then you must had missed out alot. AP is the main spotlight for GTTV with Ghostbusters and Fallout 3 inserted in the middle as sort of a timeout break. Keep watching until its the end.
  13. If they can pull this off, I will be very impressed. For now I'll just take a wait and see stance, but the concept of playing as Big Daddy remains to be a mind boggling one for me.
  14. Play as Big Daddy? *Growl!* *Groooowl!* *GROWL GROWL!* I dunno. I don't think I can feel attached to a seemingly mindless Big Daddy. As Morgoth said, its all about the people, the horror and the place you can recognise as a person, not a monster.
  15. Good to hear J.E that the quality remains consistent as last year's. But Obsidian ought should have recorded cleaner quality footage instead of compressed video. Many people in online forums are apparently misunderstanding the graphic quality of the actual game, most regarding it as 'ugly' and 'bland'. Thus its best you guys redistribute a clean footage online asap before the word of mouth spreads unnecessary damage. On the thought of PC platform, will Obsidian attempt to use PhysX for those peeps with cards capable for it? I don't mind the delay though, otherwise it can be applied with a patch instead. Since PhysX is a technology Obsidian has yet to try out yet, I thought this may be an opportune moment to learn experience from in its application.
  16. Can you be sure its touched up? I recalled a Dev mentioning that it was taken from in-game footage if I'm not mistaken.
  17. The top picture was taken from the GTTV while the bottom one was a screenshot from the E3 2008 preview. I don't really think its the matter of resolution itself. It doesn't change the fact that the textures looks so washed out and the color lacking the vibrance. I presume that's the PS3 version in comparison to the 360 version that is below?
  18. Erm. I'm a little worried here. Why is there such a drastic compromise of texture quality between the old screenshot and the new one? Just by looking at the texture sharpness is startling. The new one's looking so washed out. Heck, the old one's looking so much more vibrant and nicer looking than the video's bland style. What's happening Obsidian?
  19. Being a spoiled PC enthusiast brat, I hope we PC gamers will get the choice of choosing higher texture resolution. Some of them looks too washed out. Make sense that infiltration is for lockpicking, though I suspect its a streamlined list of skills aside from lockpicking which includes hacking too? What's technical Aptitude for? Mana points for doing the insane super human skills?
  20. Any idea what does infiltration skill do?
  21. Deep moral choices? Team Fortress 2? Wut?
  22. In addition, does perks give any additional gameplay or reflection of your character with the exchange of other NPCs? Or simply an achievement. Its interesting to note that the gun skills doesn't actually affect accuracy at all, but does improve accuracy while moving with added points. Though I'm still wondering how many points is required to unlock the skill feat like chain shot? I checked the neogaf forums and it seems they felt the graphics are not up to par to their taste. Personally I don't think its the issue of the models themselves, but the lightning has yet to be finished adjusting which does make the characters look strange under some shadow conditions. But I do find it amusing in some segments of the video the models are presented in 16 bit color. I hope its simply in a debugging mode build.
  23. Awesum! Yeah, definitely need some polishing on the animation side which shouldn't be a problem at this time. And why is the frame rate seeming smooth at one point and so slow on the other? Is it due to the problem of being recorded or the respective performances from different consoles? Old man: You are wasting my time. MT: *Head smash* BAD ASS.
  24. I think there's still room for physics tweaking in the game. Its over the top! The guy who got blasted by a shotgun pretty much flew 15 metres, sliding across the ground. Plus the CQC physics as well, the guy simply slided on the ground. Should make people model weight heavier man.
