  1. Are you serious? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep- the body is still there. I can't target or loot it, but its Suulru and its dead. I even came back to Khunda when it was time to see the council, and the body was still there
  2. I think its pretty much settled how much people dislike Vrook. I have yet another reason, and I wanted to see if ever happened to anyone else. I was playing as a Lightsider, and I helped Suulruu the farmer get his equipment back. He then joined the militia to help against the mercenaries. Anyway, after the battle Vrook, while being a complete prick, will teach you one of the lightsaber forms. Well, he demonstrated on Suulru. Suulru was in his combat stance, but never made any moves, and Vrook killed him. After the cutscene was over, there was Suulru's dead body next to me. Has that happened to anyone else?
  3. Then howcome every non-Goto Exchange boss in the game is a Quarren. Aren't Mon Cals and Quarren from the same planet? And aren't Quarren the ones who very seldom leave home?
  4. I've still never gotten the Kaiburr crystal. For LS I like the personal crystal, Solari, top-level deflection emitter and diatum energy cell plus the pontite lens.
  5. Well, don't worry about Force Sight. I screwed up and never got it my first time around, yet still got the meditation scene. And that's all it is. If you have influence with Visas she'll tell you how she feels and then you meditate and glow. No big deal, but it is kinda cool. The FS power is a neat effect, but aside from looking through a couple walls (and seeing some alignents) it's really not worth worrying about. As for the problem with Influence that doesn't happen- Hell, I don't know. It is random- sometimes you get influence, sometimes you don't. I had reload that damned trapped Mandalorian 3 times to get Bao-Dur influence. Nar Shadaa seems screwy as well. If playing LS you have several people to help in a row (guy getting beat up the exchange, 2 beggers, another guy getting the exchange treatment, Geriel). Now, if you do all those things with Atton in your party he'll give a line about the Jedi Code still matters or some such thing. I've had him give the line after the first guy, after the third guy, and after the last guy. I don't get it. If you know how much influence you'll need to Jedify all your NPCs, you kind of count on getting it.
  6. Count me in amongst those who have some odd problem playing Darkside. I never thought KotOR 1 worked going DS, since it turned the PC into such a thug. That goes for Malak too. He was a dumb thug, not a convincing or attractive villain at all. This game does better. It's more reasoned and not quite so "cackling psycho killer" as the first. The revenge-on-the-council seems petty, but that's part of being evil, folks. It's hard for supervillians to let stuff go.
  7. Another strike against the Guardian is the Force Jump. Yeah, it does wonders, but you won' t have a lightsaber for your first 10 levels or so. Go with Sentinel in K2.
  8. I get what the original poster is meaning, and I agree. Before I get into this, I want it noted that I don't like Disciple at all, and I do like the Handmaiden. But as a male Exile, the Disciple would be a better choice. Not as a romance interest- though I do think Atton is in the closet-but as an apprentice. Making characters both is a misstep by OE. Teacher/student relationships are inherently one-sided powerwise, and therefore a really bad way to start a romance. There are some sociologists who consider all sexual relationships that involve teacher/student matches -regardless of age- rape, as a teacher has sigificant power and influence over a student, and the student may not even be able to truely consent. Consider what we've seen with non-KoTOR EU stuff. Mace Windu had a female Padawan, and there are male/female matches in the new Yoda book, but one of those is a female Gran and male human. In fact, the vast majority of Master/Apprentice relationships are with the same species and sex. That would make sense. In a universe as vast and complex as the SW one, it would probably be easiest to relate to such commonality. So how would I fix it? I would have swapped the Disciple and Handmaiden. I would have made the Disciple younger, and much edgier. Wasn't this guy I would have set up the game that only ONE of your NPC could become a Jedi at a time, and set up a signficant stoyline after that. Wouldn't that make more sense than creating 4 new Jedi and none of them mentioning it? Additionally I would have made Mira a little older, and she would have been the romance option for male Exiles. So it would be 1 apprentice and then a choice of Visas/Mira for males and Atton/Visas for females. Just a thought.
  9. I found a couple easy ways to influence G0-T0 on Onderon. I don't think these hae been listed already, but if they have, my apologies. 1-The droid junk merchant-If you have a high enough repair check you can choose to change his settings for prices. Do this and G0T0 will compliment you on your use of resources and offer to help. Accept his help and you get influence. 2-When Ponlar is starting his riot in Iziz, choose the option to try and persuade him not to. If you fail (and I've never seen the Persuade option work here) tell the officer that he'll need reinformcements. G0T0 will then tell you that you need to keep disturbance to a minimum. That will give you influence as well. These two, plus the option to compliment his droid when he first joins your party, should give LS players enough influence to unlock his story without getting any DS Points.
  10. I haven't seen any cross-sex glitches in TSL, other than if you play saying Revan was a LS Female, the dialogue is a bit screwed up. And the previous posters are incorrect. There was a bit of a romance possible between Juhani and a female Revan. If you make it all the way through Juhani's story, and you don't have an Carth romance going, Juhani will tell you that she will follow you anywhere. One of the possible responses is "we are beyond words", which sure seems like a romance to me. And why, pray tell me, is that so "disturbing"?
  11. I usually get it as an awareness check at about 10-12
  12. I think Kriea's being completely in character here. While she may have been both a Jedi and a Sith, she doesn't want the exile to conform to either extreme. She believes in subtle manipulation and (most importantly) the fullfilment of the exile's personal destiny. She thinks that the Sith's mindless slaughter are as unproductive as the Jedi helping people when it may not be in anyone's best interests. I also think that we need to rethink whether Kriea/Traya really qualifies as evil. Is she manipulative? Yes. If you believe Atris, she want's to destroy the Force, which would mean the end of life. But she doesn't do it for enjoyment or personal gain, she does it because she believes its the only way she will be free. The worst thing she does is send Nihilius to Telos, but she doesn't do that to destroy the planet (though she understands it might happen), she does it so the Exile can complete his/her destiny. This is why I love what OE did with Kriea. The SW universe is totally based on George Lucas' ideas of a black/white-good/evil morality, and Kriea doesn't pay any attention to such absolutes. Back to the point of this post: Kriea hates it if you are too good or too bad, and she has good reasons to do both. And from my point of view, it's much more fun (and more challenging) to go DS being as manipulative as she is. One of my peeves with the first game is that going DS seemed so empty. If you were dark, you were a brainless thug. This game gets it better.
  13. You can still gain influence once they're Jedi. You can push them up to match your mastery, if you have it. What always drives me nuts is that Mira is the only one who gives you a "hey, thanks for making me a jedi" conversation.
  14. I don't know if there is anyway to know for sure, but if you're at LS/DS Mastery, they will as well if totally influenced. Another easy way to judge this is if you don't get influence on something you know you should. For instance, I had the Handmaiden influenced up to my LS mastery before our third duel. When I beat her the third time, I didn't get any influence.
  15. You can get plenty of influence with Mira aboard the Hawk. You need to have a high enough Wisdom, Awareness or Intelligence check though. When you ask her about her famiily, you can hit on a check that gives you a option to comment on how she works as a bounty hunter because she's never been able to find her own family. She'll get angry and tell you to go away, but you get influence from this. Talk to her again, and apologize-you'll end up with more. I've gotten to the point I can turn her into a Jedi without ever leaving Nar Shadaa.
  16. I don't think it's possible to be a "young" exile. I'd peg him/her as being at least early thirties, possible late thirties. It doesn't make any sense to be any younger. We know the Mandalorian War ended 10 years ago, but unless I'm missing something, the timeline for when it started or when Revan joined the battle hasn't been spelled out. It's strongly implied that the Exile, Malak and Revan are all about the same age, so I'd say about 35 would make sense.Say the Exile joins the war at 22, it lasts for 2-3 years, and now it's 10 years later. That would also make sense story-wise, as having a world-weary wanderer who turns out to be 24 doesn't make much sense. The ages seem off in this game for a couple characters. Take the Handmaiden for example. Considering that there is the possiblity of romance between she and the PC, you'd think she's at least 18, but probably not much older than that. We know If playing as a Male Exile, I don't think there is any question of some sort of previous relationship between he and Atris. The first visit to the Telos Base, Atris has a line like " . It doesn't take a genius to figure out the next term is "over me". Unless you think it's "over a giant plate of biscuits" or "the chance to win a brand-new speeder", which are both highly unlikely. I do think Atris is a bit older than the Exile though. Probably not much, maybe she's early 40's. That would continue this game's prediliction for inapproriate relationships.
  17. This sort of topic is always fun. Here we go, from least to best: 15-Disciple: Does anyone like this guy? I couldn’t stand him during his small part playing as a male, and it got worse as a female Exile. He’s a smarmy, unctuous Jude Law-wannabe. 14-Darth Nihilius: Argue his meaning all you want, but the plain truth of the matter is that Freaky Mask Guy is a non-factor in this game. His intro movie is terrific, and it goes all downhill from there. 13-Mandalore: I liked Canderous in KotOR 1, and the idea of him becoming Mandalore is likeable enough, but this never really works. He doesn’t add much to the plot, and his time on Dxun seem really forced. It is moderately better on the Ravager though. 12-HK-47: This hurts, as HK was just about my favorite thing in the first game. The thrill is gone. HK was a one-note joke, and it is just not funny the second time around. 11-Bao-Dur: Just dull. 10- T3-M4: He was better the second time around. Not quite as useless anyway, and his solo quests were fun. 9-Hanharr: Do Wookies ever work in a SW game? I really don’t think so. Hanharr is certainly more interesting than the lame Chewbacca rip-off from the first KotOR. 8-G0T0: I’m kind of mystified as to why people seem to dislike him. I don’t think he’s the most successful character in TSL, but it’s a great idea. A droid becomes a crime lord attempting to save the Republic? If anything, they didn’t go far enough with this one. 7-Atris: Talk about false advertising. In the months leading up to the game’s release, it seemed that Atris and Nihilius would be opposite ends of the spectrum. Instead, Nihilius is a non-factor, while Atris starts unlikable and heads straight to evil from there. Atris is okay, and her motives are understandable. I just don’t think I would have taken her in the same direction. 6-Darth Sion: Better than Nihilius, better than Malak ever was. Sion is a one-note villain, but that note is a lot more complex and nuanced than Malak’s caricature. The most effective element is the voice acting. Sion’s voice is an appropriately creepy rumble. 5-Handmaiden: A lot closer to Bastila than people think. HM has similar father issues, similarly deep-seated inferiority issues, and they share an affinity for really bad hairdos. The HM is humorless though, and almost painfully earnest. 4-Visas Marr: There are some issues here, aren’t there? Last survivor of her planet, tortured and enslaved by Nihilius than slowly redeemed (if going LS anyway); Visas is suitably enigmatic. There are problems though, as she seems to disappear between her intro and the ending. 3-Mira: Say hello to the closest thing to a grown-up female (other than Kriea) in this game. Mira has spark, a sense of humor and an interesting back-story. Moreover, she is the only character that reacts to becoming a Jedi, which is unforgivable omission on OE’s part. 2-Atton Rand: I did not want to like Atton, but I do. He is funny, he is interesting, and he is so much more than a Carth clone. His back-story is pretty creepy though, and I question the story implications of making this guy a LS Jedi. It would be more interesting had they brought him out of the closet though. 1-Kriea: Just ask George Lucas how difficult it is to introduce moral ambiguity in the SW universe. Kriea isn’t a hero, but neither is she really a villain. She is a super powered Ayn Rand, which is really intriguing. She does fade after the “secret” is revealed, but still the most interesting character in the game.
  18. It's base constitution only. This kinda ticks me off, as I hate using points that could be used for STR, DEX or WIS. I usually top off at 12 or 14. I can live without D-Packages.
  19. That damned fuel quest is bugged. If you visit Vogga after Goto's yacht and get him to agree to ship fuel to Citadel Station, he'll tell you he needs you to go there and organize things. This would inply that this is a quest. Yet if you go back to Telos and talk to everyone, from Lt. Grann on down, nobody will let you tell them you've solved the fuel crisis. Almost as aggravating as the TSF Bounty fiasco. Has anyone ever got that to work?
  20. Actually I could care less about what Reven is up to. The part of the game that annoys me to no end is that the history of the Exile and the plot surrounded him isn't really well written and seems to have several incredibly glaring loose ends. While I find KOTOR-2 to be a pretty enjoyable game, I'm not going to kid myself and claim that the writing is as good as the original game. There are a lot of plot holes and areas that seem to be important but never quite go anywhere and alot of things that are just pretty much never resolved or given any kind of closure at all. Don't get me wrong, the things that are in the game are for the most part pretty well done, but there is obviously alot of stuff that is missing and alot of things that were removed from the game (probably due to time constraints due to lucas arts forcing a christmas release). The game itself just doesn't seem nearly as complete as the original one, and thats the area in my estimation where it comes up short. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have no problem with the open-endedness of what happened to Revan. It sets up a sequel nicely if that happens. I would have loved to see more on what happened to the other NPC's from the first game, but it wasn't (and shouldn't have been) Obsidian's main concern. They needed to concentrate on the Exile and the new NPCs. My problem is that they didn't seem to complete that. All the NPC's that I've dealt with in this game seem like their 2/3 done.
  21. And did anyone ever find out exactly who Mira's father was? Kreia mentions Mira's father when the Exile asks about the future of all his allies. I was never able to pry anything out of Mira about her father, except when she tells the Exile she had a father once already. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think he's hiding in the HK50 factory. :D Seriously, I think that could be a metaphorical father, meaning the Mandalorians and her childhood with them and on Nar Shadaa. I don't think I could have any more influence with her than I did (she mirrored my LS mastery) and I never got anywhere beyond the implication that she became a bounty hunter due to the fact she could never find her own family. Like much in this game, Mira seems only 2/3 done.
  22. That fight at the end made me think that something about Mira was left out of the game due to time constraints. Why else would she be so important? My first playthrough Mira didn't get off the ship at any time. I never got any influence with her and never went anywhere with her storyline. Then I get her solo scene at the end, and I think maybe she's more important than I thought. The second time through I concentrated on her, made her into a Jedi.... and get the exact same ending with her. She is the only one, as far as I know, who has a scene that acknowledges you've made her into a Jedi. Though, that isn't glitch-free either, as if you put her in your party on the attack on Freedon Nadd's tomb, she mentions that she's not a Jedi. At that point she was a Scout/Sentinel 15/6. Stuff like that is just aggravating. Anyone else think that Mira would have made a much better choice as a romance with a male exile? Unlike the HM and Visas, who are so emotionally stunted it's almost scary, she's almost a real person.
  23. A similar thing happened to me on Nar Shadaa. I couldn't go back, and had to reload a save game. I only lost about 30 minutes of gameplay though. You, my friend, are probably out of luck.
  24. This one is easy.. if you're a LS character help the Ithorians. If your DS go with Czerka. If you go with Ithorians, you might lose influence with Kreia, since she's so against helping people and mercy and such.
