Luckily for us, there are people who look beyond the horizons of current knowledge and try to push the barriers, otherwise we would still live in caves and be scared of lightning.

Get rid of the human factor and give the thing a decent AI (and better armour plating) and we don't need people getting shred to bits by IED's when patrolling remote regions in Afghanistan.

How does physics explain entangled photons? The university of Vienna has investigated the phenomena for years, trying to discover what makes one photon "communicate" effects to it's twin faster than light. There's no "communication" between entangled particles - that's a common misconception. Observing one simply determines the state of both - when you look at how wonky most quantum physics is, it's not all that unbelievable. It still doesn't have any relevance to FTL travel. Well, you sort of have to learn how to walk before you run faster than light... The beauty of physics is that we don't know it all, only what we have been able to grasp, observe and theorise about so far. I'm normally not a believer in anything, but I do have certain degree of faith in human curiosity. Not possible doesn't exist, only unsolved puzzles.

Ah, "that". Probably part of what made it different. This isn't Star Trek I really need to find Blakes 7 (the only thing that even remotely reminds me of Firefly, sort of it's darker and more cynical cousin) some day... Amazon has had the 20 disc set listed as unavailable for so long now

Yeah, even having never seen the series, that scene really threw me for a loop. I didn't like it. :/ Somebody throw me a torch here?...

This game suddenly incresed 40000% in coolness!

I would very much disagree with that. There isn't any huge difference in what you see because devs don't really do much with it most of the time. But the quality difference is still readily apparent. Unfortunately, noone seems willing to put forth the effort to use it for anything...but now that a large portion of gamers use a DX10 OS and card I'm hoping to see a lot more. ( http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey ) Interesting. I find the number of mono-core cpus surprising, as well as the low number of quad-core's in circulation (among steams survey group).

The extended cut makes the movie have much more sense/coherency. Let those who hate Alien 3 hate it, I liked it (the extended version). Saw Serenity. I've seen it twice now, not sure what to make of it. Sort of redundant if you've seen Firefly, not sure if it would be any fun to watch if you haven't. I should dust off my Firefly boxed set and get watching from episode 1 again.

Which is pretty much my main concern with the impending doom sabre rattling legislation on the horizon. I just put the blame squarely on shoulders of the "freeloaders", that such legislation is even beeing seriously considered and not shot down in it's infancy. One of the things I was happy to leave behind in the old country was the feeling of big brother always watching over my shoulder, the almost paranoia you get knowing that there are cameras everywhere, every single monetary transaction you do is registered against your cpr-number (a serial number that is unique for all Danes), that you have to prove your innocense to the tax man and not the other way around. Some people have made it all too easy for guys like RIAA etc. to become powerful and it is not the legit users. So yeah, I'm not afraid of putting my foot where my mouth is and practise what I preach, so I haven't bough music for the last 5 years, the dvd's I buy are those that run on my multiregion Sony dvd player and blu-rays?... not until they drop the market control and get rid of the region encoding (or multiregion players become widely available). My point still stands, those guys are offering nothing that anybody truly needs and only because people act like sheep (by wanting what they offer so badly) do they wield the power that they do.

I would have to go out and buy Oblivion first, but I would be surprised if I couldn't find it in a bargain somewhere now Same thing goes for Fallout 3 actually. Never tried that one.

Sorry to hear that In that case, hope you find what you are looking for some day.

Ah yes, another popular excuse by the apologists... not stealing, just violating a bit of copyright. It might be easier to pursue in a court room, but semanthic obfuscation doesn't change the fact that you are stealing. What you are stealing is the depriving other people due payment for the time and labour invested in their work. To bring back my original example of the hairdresser, walking away without paying him is not really stealing either, is it? Try telling the plumber that fixed your broken water pipe that, thanks, but since I now have what I need, why should I pay you for your time, etc. Only the anonymity in stealing digitally distributable stuff makes lions out of whimps. The same whimps indulging in self pity if somebody wants to make it harder for them apparantly.

Sounds like the original problem was solved...

That has to be the most inane excuse I've heard in a long time. Nobody is forced into pirating anything by anything other than their own greed and lack of morals. Lets cut it out in simple words: You... Don't... Need... It... It's even better, it's single syllable words. To hard to grasp for the mewling filth wallowing around in their own feces on the floor, ranting about evil overlords ripping them off etc. but the truth, as much as it hurts the delusional mind is, there is no music/software/movie/book whatever that anybody *Need* The solution is very simple, do not like, not know well enough, simply leave it where it is. Anything else is hypocrasy, plain and simple. The feeble attempts at justifying it just make people who steal out of convenience look even more pathetic than they already are.

A bit funny since invading England is a favourite occupation amongst its neighbours. The Celts did it, the Saxons did it, The Danes did it, the Iriash had a go at it every now and then, the Normans did it, the Scots did it etc. resulting in a country where most of its people are of either German, French or Danish origin. Even the royal family is German (Hannoverian) iirc.

I'm afraid it wont matter much what Obsidian prefers in these cases, as DRM is usually something that is implemented at the sole discretion of the publisher. Might want to look at recent Square Enix releases to "test the waters" regarding what direction they are heading.

That would be an understatement... it sounds completely weird, utterly out of synch with lips and body language and the translators couldn't agree on the translation. One guy tells me to fetch 5 of something while the subtitle says 6 Other than that, it seems to run Ok. All maxed out too, with high and ultra high settings, no hiccups so far.

So, because it is easy to steal and the probability of getting caught low, you think it is Ok? Parasites with self entitlement issues is the reason legislation like this even comes up in the first instance. When you go to the hair dresser and get a haircut, do you decide when leaving that his time and effort wasn't worth your money and then leave without paying? Probably not, because it is easier to get caught. The mentality is the same though. Why should *I* have to pay if I can weasel my way out of it. I can always try to make up feeble, pathetic excuses afterwards, like nobody gets hurt and everybody else are stealing, so it can't really be wrong, can it? It must be the victims fault, because I am not really a bad person normally. Grow up. Bottom line, there is nothing essential you need to survive on the internet. There is only explanations for piracy, no excuses.

I still buy music. I buy music that has recently been released by bands that still exist. That doesn't mean anything at all. Because you do something legally most of the time does not excuse doing it illegally some of the time. Which doesn't have anything to do with the topic either. It is about giving authority to shut down sites on dubious claims. Piracy in itself is another matter. Yeah, good riddance to piracy sites and filesharers, but the decision process, who decides what qualifies for blacklisting etc. is rather conspiceously (sp?) unspecified at the moment. Few people throw fits at the idea of cops handing out speeding tickets without a court process, but would you have private interest groups have the same authority? Not really.

It still says 2+ hours, but much better

41 hours to download... it's only 1.7Gb. Maybe they are a bit busy at the moment Might try again in a day or two.

Where in the world did you get those numbers? The most common aspect ratios are 4:3 (standard TV, ie. 1280x960) , 5:4 (common computer, ie. 1280x1024), 16:9 (standard HDTV, ie. 1280x720) and 16:10 (common computer , ie. 1280x800). Heh, that should have read 16:9 and 16:10 instead of 9:6 and 10:6. I'd only had 8 cups of coffee at the time

It may not have been their intention, but it sort of pokes the entire "achievement" fad (which is laughable) in the eye with a big rod in a satirical way.
