Why Good Doctor, does my son have Liver Failure?
If he had mentioned 'Halo' somewhere in his post, I would have said yes

What are you playing now?
I was thinking of grabbing a HoMM game in the GOG sale-- is III the consensus-best of the part of the series that they have available (which I think is 1-4)? Some die-hard fans claims that II is better, but I've never played it, so I couldn't say. III did seem to be what made it "popular" (as wargames go).

What are you playing now?
Thanks, but I think the game just stays where it is then Maybe it's time to dust off the HoMM III I got from GoG?

What are you playing now?
Tried the Heroes of Might and Magic VI demo on Steam. Contrary to my expectations it wasn't an utter disaster. It still doesn't get close to III, but it sure makes the previous 2 games look bad by comparison. Anyone knows if the full game uses some kind of additional crap for DRM other than steamworks?

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
Why neocon? It's not uncommon to hire people on a contract/project basis. Sometimes they get extended beyond the original scope, sometimes continuation depends on milestones being met (and may terminate prematurely).

Merry Christmas!
Seasonal greetings? Stuff it! Just sayin' Last man at work, soon to call it a day and take some weeks off. Northerners might not know, but in this side of the world, it's the long school holidays season and most things shut down up until sometime in January. Never cared about "Consumer Christmas" and all the hypocrisy involved in trying to outshop your neighbour, bowing for peer pressure, trying to show how awfully "christmassy" you are. Ho ho ho, here is my plastic card. This is not the place to bleat about "There is no God" either, if you want to do that, well **** You too and get out of my thread. Militant Atheists are often worse than religious zealots (the Westboro open lunatic asylum congregation exempt from comparison). I'm not an Atheist and I would make a piss poor Christian so I'm a lost cause for both camps. So, with that off my chest, wishing unification for those separated from loved ones, healing for those hurt, hope for those who despair, and those who lost someone may find something assuaging the pain. Drop the presents (or buy smaller) and go donate to your favourite charity instead. Don't care what it is, Salvation Army, Shelter for Homeless Cats or whatever. Make the world a better place, not a more superficial one. Merry Christmas ...or else PS: Dear Santa, I've been a good boy, can I have a turn based isometric crpg?

Music
Was listening to an old live version on CD (Queen Live Killers) and went looking for a video version. Struck me as one of the better cover versions

The side quest choices in RPG are too easy make
Don't we all? Only game I've seen this in is Nethack and it was just incidental, not a quest

What you did today
Finland's had to cut butter exports because of an unexpected spike in demand. I gotta admit I switched back to butter earlier this year, so I guess I'm partially to blame. I've also lost 12 lbs. since then... SATW version of events

Christmas Spirit
You should get them a job instead so they could earn their own socks. [/scrooge]

SW: The Old Republic Part 2
Like Virtual PC's. You create a 'bubble', which is a local copy (i.e. instance) of part of the game world. Two instances would provide two groups of people the same bit of the game world, but never know of the presence of each other. Yeah, sounds like a bad Star Trek episode

Need some help
Depending on the age of your motherboard, it may or may not support sata out of the box so to speak. Older hardware needs Windows to load the drivers first IIRC. If your motherboard supports booting from it, you'll need to change the boot priority/partition in your BIOS settings. Where and the specifics depends on your BIOS.

The funny things thread part 3

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
Bought the bundle. I wonder if one of the previous bundles later added Portal to it? It's showing in my Steam library. Can't remember ever having purchased it. Still got a bunch of games to try out from the previous bundle, like Dungeons of Dredmor and Darwinia.

What you did today
They are "invading" some of the coastal cities and buying up all the butter.. So no need to donate.. Like the proper vikings they are. Go for Gold With this you can apparantly bribe a Norwegian to do anything these days...
-
What you did today
Oh yeah, how is the "Donate butter for the poor Norwegians" campaign going back in Denmark?

What are you playing now?
Looks like something that would have been released on the Amiga 20 years ago. Nicer graphics though I can at least give the demo a try.

Piracy
Was there a point to that? Not sure what a collection of product pages is supposed to tell. It doesn't show units sold, nor how much creativity gets killed off and fall by the wayside over a defined time period.

Europe wants the UK to leave the EU
It's good to be the king Edit to add: Generally speaking (as in a lot of exceptions exist), the Germans sought hegemony through hard work and concerted efforts, the French thought they would have it, but not sure how to accomplish it, so they might just piggy-back it on the Germans (while sticking out their tongues and wagging them at the English). The rest wasn't really interested in ideals. Not a lot of trust amongst European countries and they tend to gang up on who is currently the "dominant" one. Nothing's really changed the last 2000 years.

Piracy
A few are successful despite piracy, not because if it. Check out the link Starwars posted for indie developer opinions.

Europe wants the UK to leave the EU
Nah, the reason they are in trouble is because a number of countries went into the treaties with different expectations. France and Germany sought "stability" and economic growth (financial imperialism) through disciplined economics. A number of Mediterranean countries saw it as an easy way to suckle at the teats of the ECB while lining their own pockets through corruption and money diversion. Scandinavia and England never trusted the entire "United Europe" concept and decided not wanting to be assimilated in the steam rolling German money machine nor the sourthern black hole where money mysteriously disappear in alarming quantities.
