  1. Chinese government makes beer. Budweiser are competitors. I guess. Pretty redolent example of what full state control results in. Oh come our glorious revolution, eh? Actually, it is Pakistan that is banning "Budweiser". Probably a bit protectionistic, clinging to their own Murree beer. Not like the Pakistani beer market is that big to begin with.
  2. We need more plastic eating microbes. We've got half the Pacific turned into a pseudo plastic landmass to test it on. It would be nice if more effort was put into bio degradeability (is that a word?). Unless it is meant to last until explicitly destroyed (like a bridge or a house), it should be a requirement that materials used in the daily household decomposed into harmless components after an amount of time. Imagine the space saved on landfills if the bulk of the stuff there degraded over 2-3 years.
  3. Take the blue pill! No expert in dream "interpretation" but it sounds awfully familiar, like the burden of leadership and responsibility. You know what is going on and you can't share it. You have to make decisions that affect everybody and you can't delegate it. The allegorical bloodbath that is the inevitable collateral damage. It sucks sometimes
  4. On a completely related note, we should ban the use of Hydroxyl Acid Dihydrogen monoxide: * is called "hydroxyl acid", the substance is the major component of acid rain. * contributes to the "greenhouse effect". * may cause severe burns. * is fatal if inhaled. * contributes to the erosion of our natural landscape. * accelerates corrosion and rusting of many metals. * may cause electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes. * has been found in excised tumors of terminal cancer patients. Despite the danger, dihydrogen monoxide is often used: * as an industrial solvent and coolant. * in nuclear power plants. * in the production of Styrofoam. * as a fire retardant. * in many forms of cruel animal research. * in the distribution of pesticides. Even after washing, produce remains contaminated by this chemical. * as an additive in certain "junk-foods" and other food products. And even worse, it's sold in plastic containers creating mountains in landfills and using up valuable energy reserves in its manufacture.
  5. It occurs to me that maybe you were poking fun at yourself and I took you seriously. My bad! That's what I suspected too, especially remembering this little golden nugget Stereotypes should only be served accompanied by humour. My favourite of the kind is "Eurotrip" (Unrated version)
  6. Nah, it's just all you convicts have built up a stronger tolerance to bacteria living in the the real world equivalent of Mad Max's world. He's *Austrian* Hurlshot... not Australian
  7. My thoughts went more along the lines of "Oh look, the Earth isn't flat after all!" I hope they are correct. The universe would be a stale and dull place if the standard model actually applied to it. That's why I keep checking in on the FTL communications and cryptology studies in that Austrian university every now and then to see if they discover anything new.
  8. Yes
  9. Vote where? Here. I've done my part. Voted. Done my part
  10. Was 8 (or VIII or whatever) the one that had a demo PC version? I remember trying one of them and besides the instant turnoff that was the horrible control scheme, it had this emo kid with all attitude and no redeeming qualities that you wanted to put over your knee?
  11. Not always Never made it past the prologue. It was all action and nothing interesting going on. Dead Island is more fun, because you expect it to be all action and little else. With Witcher 2 I expected something different.
  12. Probably some Tibetan foothills if Chinese logic is anything to go by >_
  13. Sometimes you just have to love Aussie news TV. Equally funny was the guy caught watching scantily clad Miranda Kerr pictures on his PC in the background during a financial news update
  14. Hmm... I wonder, does Texas and California have an extradition treaty for something as trivial as breach of NDA's?
  15. I watched Razor before starting season 4 and The Plan after season 4. Of course that was a while ago, so now I'm not even sure if the details in The Plan would have made much difference when watched in the middle rather than at the end. Not a spoiler per se, but the ending was a bit of a let down. Biggest disappointment since Alan Campbells Deepgate books. What started out so promising in the City of Chains fizzled out so completely towards the end in Deus ex Machina stuff.
  16. I like how the game of the year nominees include 3 PC games, yet none of those are nominated for best PC game. Quality judging right there. Dark Souls as a contender for best RPG... It didn't really look like that on the youtube videos
  17. Hmm... never thought about that. I even have a backpack full of different batteries for my toys. I remembered the souped up med-x and turbo and what have you, but forgot about different ammo types. Took me forever too to figure out how to change ammo
  18. The only thing I'll say about lentils is, they sure need a lot of curry to lend it any flavour. Maybe it's just because an Indian couple in New Zealand introduced me to them. Speaking of curry, it looks like chicken breast is on the menu for tonight. Too incompetent (and lazy) to make curry myself (Woolworth to the rescue), but apart from that, it's fast and dead easy to make. Got some nice Chardonnay in the fridge too. Yes, fridge temperature is really too cold, but since room temperature is getting close to 30 degrees at this time of year, there really isn't any middle ground.
  19. Silenced Sniper Rifle + Better Criticals + Head shots = Haaahaha, come get some! I suck at gun skills as I went the energy weapon way. I've got some decent explosives skills too, but the darn critters seems to ignore most stuff I can set up as traps for them (C4 and plasma mines). I don't know their stats, but I suspect they have a fairly high damage resistance.
  20. I seriously hate Deathclaws... just about everything else I can reasonably deal with. In a dazzling display of testicular exuberance I pulled out my Pew Pew and ran at them, yelling obscenities! One Deathclaw went down to the Alpha Predator of the wastelands that is Gorth, two Deathclaws, the third and the fourth one too. I was pretty sure I might even have survived the fifth if I hadn't run out of sacrificial companions and the Deathclaw had more friends left, like number six and seven. There has to be a trick to get into that Quarry and back out again. Maybe a combination of Archimedes II and mini Nukes
  21. Somebody's been playing too many video games. Very well made
  22. Thanks to my new hardware, I could now play through Vault 22 without having to hard reset my PC every 60-120 seconds of play time. After so much grief an almost surreal experience just playing through it without rebooting Then I fell asleep across the keyboard and decided it was time to find a proper bed to crash for the night. Work interferes quite a bit with life these days
  23. Didn't we have that recently with some other developer? I can't remember if it was Bioware or Steam or whoever, but it wasn't that long ago.
  24. I seem to have forgotten, what were those projects again please?
  25. My biggest beef with the outskirts of Vegas is the similarity to whatsitsname the northern town in NWN2 (Ember?). Lots of buiildings, but very few of them you can enter. Heck, even if they had just been empty cut and paste buildings, it would have been preferable. Otherwise I've enjoyed the ride so far. With my new gfx card, it doesn't freeze my PC dead in it's track anymore (a fault of the gfx card, not the game), I've finally entered vault 22. Talk about "green house" effect Note to self... keep an eye out for Mantis eggs.
