  1. Mm darn, strikes me as a really unpleasant thing to do.
  2. Hi all, just a question, is there an alternate way to open the battery? Do I have to awaken one of the dwarves in order to learn the cantec?
  3. It's utter nonsense to claim balance is not necessary in a single player game. It's something that is repeated again and again, as if it's a fact like the sun rises. Everyone plays differently and hence there are some things that are important to them that don't matter to others. There are some people who do like classes to be balanced. Apparently they are less important than those who don't care.
  4. Ok, seems like he has some use then will try with him, thanks
  5. Not sure it's just about survival and athletics though. Are you saying you managed to save both of them? Because I could save either one or the other but never both. Also a Druid with around 5 athletics and Survival. I'm sure that there is another check with the attributes as well though, maybe strength and or constitution?
  6. Y To be honest it's more like refining the system. I definitely don't have a problem with that. They built a new system from scratch, and it's nowhere near perfect. So, yeah while I don't agree with everything they do, I fully support their tinkering. It may sound like I'm having a slight dig at them, but it's not the case. It's just that they do need to tweak everything, from combat to classes and attributes. I for one would be really disappointed and worried if they had done nothing since release. And yeah, that means they are going to make changes that I don't agree with somewhere down the line. All this does is show that they have some commitment towards the game, which is a good thing, a very good thing, and should be encouraged instead of whining.
  7. Nope, that might be part of the solution, but there is something else involved- my Druid couldn't rescue both either. He could manage either the lady or the man, the latter with as theorycrafter says an ice spell. I'm still not sure what you need to rescue both though. I tried with various characters, and couldn't. Not sure if it is possible, though I'd guess a Mage like character with high constitution might do it?
  8. Thanks. Any idea of what level you should be to manage the fights? (Hard difficulty.) Probably 8 - 10, depending how good you are. Getting to the shack is a peace of cake though. Phew, hing to get her earlier than that! Oh well. Thanks for the info.
  9. Really enjoying the 2:0 patch changes, barely started the expansion itself but enjoying it so far. Looking good....
  10. Stalkers link is a ranger talent which increases the Rangers accuracy when he/she engages the same target as his/her pet. Not sure if the pet also benefits from it. You do have to take the talent though, Rangers don't start with it.
  11. Thanks. Any idea of what level you should be to manage the fights? (Hard difficulty.)
  12. Yeah as someone who suffers from chronic "restartitis" I end up getting way to intimate with the starting dungeons. Dragon age Origins, Dwarven noble path - oh my hat, Loved the game, loved the "origin", but still have nightmares about that section.
  13. Haven't had a lot of time to spend on the game since the expansion, but seems to me Rangers are pretty darn awesome now. They probably benefit the most from the perception/accuracy change and the rogue sneak attack talent. Throw in pet buffs as a bit of gravy. They were decent before, but now Sagani rocks...
  14. Awesome, really tempted to do a ranger play through now, especially with the minor sneak attack multi class talent you can take... Rangers where always underrated but now it seems they rock.
  15. I'd imagine the backers would be a tad upset if the expansion was cheaper than what they paid for it. Re the base game - gog has a very nice discount at the mo.
  16. Good lord your line must be quick... Going to be hours for me yet.
  17. Redeemed on Gog - and downloading - no problems.
  18. From the looks of it, Steam and GOG are both now live! You should be able to redeem now. Awesome, will do, thanks.
  19. Cant.... wait - must.... redeem the key now... Then later I can complain on the forums that there is a complication arising due to me redeeming the key early!
  20. 7 A.M PST - 4 pm local time. Need to download on dinosaur internet speeds. Work tomorrow. Aaaaaarrrrrghgghghghghgh that means I'm only going to get to play tomorrow night!
  21. I hope - only interested because there are not that many companies which cater for my taste in games. Hate to lose another one....
  22. @lordfairfax... Quick question, if we accept the figure of roughly 450000 sales (don't worry won't hold you to it), is this a good performance for a game like Pillars? Put another way, have you any idea what Obs would regard as worthwhile? I don't know much about the game industry which is strange considering how much time I spent playing them, but being conservative, say Obs has made $11 000 000, it does seem quite low and not likely to keep them going, mainly because, - presumably paradox take a cut of the profits, no idea how much though. - it's been some time and a whole lot of work for Obs, again I don't know how big the studio is, but there are salaries to paid. Also not sure if you took Steam and Gogs cut in to account?
  23. WOW! Think I've finally met my match. Someone who is more cynical than me.
  24. Well I did like DAO, and I'm enjoying the witcher 3, just like I enjoyed Pillars and Original sin. Thing is though, while they are all computer games there is a substantial difference between the 3d action games and the isometric games. Almost like watching a movie v reading a book. The differences are big enough that the fact they are all classified as computer games is really quite incidental. So if a company puts out a kickstarter for an isometric game there is a very real expectation of how the game will play. And 3d is frankly not even on the same planet. Having said that, I think there is some room for improvement, certainly on the ai side. And divinity original sin while it was isometric had a very cool feature where you could rotate the camera slightly, mainly so you could keep an eye on the party members. It's too late for pillars though, but maybe they could implement in the sequel.
  25. No please no dual wielding rangers like Drizzt. Sick of that. I think Rangers are just about fine as is. Interesting, different. Maybe tweak their abilities and pet a bit. As is you can make your ranger do anything, guns, bows, 2 handed swords, dual wield... The pet creates flavor, and if it's boring then play another class.
