  1. Not sure who did the video but sounds like he has no clue. Wizards are pretty potent. You might also consider a Druid, they also make great nukers, with the advantage of having a bit more variety - ie they can heal a bit.
  2. Of course one can finish the game even with bad chars on lower difficulties (maybe even POTD if you play really well). This doesn't change that her "race" is the only one that consists only of weaknesses. EDIT: She even has two stat points less than all other companions (those two you get for your race)! Gonna post this to the bug forum. I'm not suggesting that they don't tweak her, just that she is far from useless, the fact that she is a rogue makes her strong.
  3. Ah leave the poor cute little bitty lizard. At least that what I did. Much like the witcher, no one is entirely innocent or blameless. It's a dragon eat dragon world after all.
  4. Also the seventh level spells that were added in WM are pretty ordinary for all casters, not just Ciphers. The real change is 4th level spells/encounter which really pulls the other casters ahead of a cipher. Having said that it's really late game, so it doesn't make that much of a difference. Regarding seventh level spells, I think Obs were worried about breaking the game, hence they are all pretty ordinary. Not entirely necessary to worry about because by the time you get them the game is pretty much over.
  5. Well, I don't like wizards or ciphers for that matter, I way prefer Druids! Nothing to do with the classes just a personal preference that goes back, way back. But there's nothing wrong with wizards or ciphers in pillars, they are definitely both near the top of the heap, even with the nerf cipher got they are pretty darn potent. So not sure where the op got the idea from.
  6. Its really hard to go wrong with a melee rogue, the only talent you actually need is sneak attack.... And attributes don't matter that much, most of their damage comes from sneak attack/deathblows. But yeah it would be nice from a role playing pov, if there was something special about her build. Maybe a special ability of some sort?
  7. Huh, wizard has always been good, really good.
  8. Dual wielded sabres. Didn't need strength or vulnerable attack. Character while not a power build with the stats was a beast. Just like the good old days with the ie games - strength is not needed for most rogue builds. The resolve also adds a bit of deflection and will saves, so it's not a wasted stat. I'd imagine that a rogue with an estoc would also be rather unpleasant though, and wouldn't need strength either.
  9. To be honest for a rogue you don't even need high strength. I'm more of a role player myself, but I've had really good results with an Orlan rogue with 10 str, 18 dex,16 per and 14 resolve. Everything else set at 10. The resolve is there for role playing purposes, but I dont notice a huge difference between this character and my early ones who had much higher strength. This is on hard difficulty for what it's worth. As other people have said go with what makes you happy. Just a point about a rogue, you generally only get the rogue companion fairly late as opposed to just about all the other classes which are easy to get. It can make it a lot easier depending on your play style having a rogue PC.
  10. Just waiting for the obligatory "craigholdt" fights are to easy posts. Sometimes the devs just can't win.
  11. Yeah, I'm not sure if the problem is from GOG, I just thought that I should mention in case it does turn out to be relevant.
  12. BTW I downloaded the patch from GOG, not sure if maybe something happened on their side.
  13. Also got this, and when I change maps it covers the whole screen. Did a reinstall and kept the save games and did not install the latest patch and it was fine. Installed the patch and it came back. It's something to do with the new patch and the white March. Basically if I open my inventory the soulbound weapons are bright pink as is the lizard pet. When I transfer to a new white March map the whole map turns pink - unplayable. If I go back to a core game map, the new items are bright pink but it doesn't spread to cover the map. Can't play much further in the expansion with the current patch but it seems to be related to some of the items, and definitely the soulbound bow, staff and sword.
  14. Is there a way to not kill the wolf? My druid couldn't do it - he could calm the wolf but then when he attempted to remove the arrow I had to kill the wolf. How do you remove the arrow without killing the wolf? After I calmed the wolf Zahua pulled out the arrow and tended the wound or something. Ah I must be missing something or someone, will try with Zahua later. Thanks
  15. Is there a way to not kill the wolf? My druid couldn't do it - he could calm the wolf but then when he attempted to remove the arrow I had to kill the wolf. How do you remove the arrow without killing the wolf?
  16. You don't need a string, just a Silver Arrow. It's on a wolf or something in Russetwood. Jeez, thanks saved me from ransacking every darn merchant in the game!
  17. As far as I can make out they are bringin down the requirements for upgrading soul bound weapons in the next patch which is currently in beta. ie it will be 5 Druids instead of 10 for upgrading stormcaller. The patch should be available soon, and will make a difference. Btw where do I get a string for stormcaller? Got the bow, just need the string.
  18. They also have utility- roots and the pet can get knockdown 2x encounter. Just started a play through where I'm going to get some of the pet talents like sneak attack and knockdown. Even without them, on my last play though Itumak out damaged Eder easily. Eder was an off tank with a shield but some offensive talents. To put it into perspective the little munchkin did almost as much damage as Pellagina who had an estoc. Crazy. But yeah the payoff is that there is a heck of a lot of micro managing involved even more so than with a rogue. Still good times.
  19. If you are talking about the ones in the basement of the cabin (white march) apparently there is a bug, check the forums. Otherwise not sure what you are referring to.
  20. The problem with waiting for that quest is that you are pretty much finished the game by then. And if you are looking for some Druids to kill before then you'll struggle. It's not helped by the fact that some opponents who clearly are druids(they shapeshift and use the same spells) are not recognized as druids by the weapon requirements. Thinking particularly about the twin elms "clansman". So yeah, it's ridiculously difficult to find enough Druids for around 99 percent of the game. Really hope Obs look at this. I do like what they have done with the soul bound weapons, just in practice it's not great at the moment.
  21. Yeah, so far Itumak has been very useful. (Hard not POTD) He was awesome when I was really struggling against certain suicidal golems. Just sent him to aggro and boom, no more construct - or Itumak.... But give him a minute and he is up and running for the next one. Not the brightest Itumak. Where's the spca when you need them. Seriously pets are really useful now, they can tank as much as anyone can post 2:0, they also do a substantial amount of damage without the pet upgrades. And Rangers do some really nice single target eps, obviously not as much as a melee rogue, but then what does? Add binding roots which is fantastic now, with the changes to engagement and ai. I'd also add that while cc and nuking are still king, you definitely want someone who can do some single target dps to get rid off those pesky casters quickly. It makes it much easier to have a mix of classes. I've noticed a big rise in difficulty when Sagani and Itumak are not in the party.
  22. Yeah he is an unpleasant character, no doubt about it. Just not sure that it's a sufficient reason to punish the maid
  23. I'm stuck at the mo, not sure who to awaken. So far it is between the maid and the old dwarf, but the journal mentions that there could be more people? Not sure if I am missing someone? At any rate I was hoping there would be a book or something.... Ah well, someone need to sacrifice their sanity, it's for the good of stalwart after all....
