Siorfin replied to darthrock's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Robes look alot better than they did in kotor1. -
Looking for Character Class information

There is no way to calculate # of skill points and feats per level because slow average and fast do not compute in a mathematical formula needing a numerical answer. -
Tales of the Jedi parallels in TSL
Siorfin replied to jaguars4ever's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I think there is also some inspiration from non-starwars sources. In an episode of yu yu hakusho it is revealed one of the characters powers went into hibernation to prepare for a time they would be needed. I can't say anymore without being a totally obvious spoiler but once you get to the point where you can see a parallel you will understand. -
Currently I think mine is at 12-39 or something close as a 15/2 sentinel/watchman. I have no crystals yet other than a yellow focus stone.

Questions on a certain Force Power
Siorfin replied to darth_nemisis's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Well considering how poor the documentation with the game is I was hoping for more from the strategy guide like tables and stuff. I hate making a character blind. There is nothing like that in the strategy guide either but it is more specific about what to expect from automatic level ups though. Some of the descriptions are wrong for force powers also but it lists all of them. Storm is uncapped now or has had the cap raised but they have it listed as capped at 10d6 still which is 60 max while they have screenshots of their jedi consular doing as much as 92 damage a strike with force storm lol. -
They show up at different points in the game.

Force Persuade: completely worthless?

Force persuade option should be present anytime you have a regular persuade option. -

Has Anyone Got KOTOR 2 TSL Yet?
Siorfin replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I think they are balanced fairly well. Two weapon fighting gives you one extra attack per round at -2 which when combined with the +3 to hit from dueling works out to a 25% difference in your chance to hit on a roll of 1d20. It is a 15% decrease to hit for main hand from dueling and also a 15% decrease in your defense. Against easy to hit opponents it is the clear winner because of extra damage but against people who you actually miss against it may not always be the best option and against people who can hit you the extra defense can help more than you would think. I actually prefer dueling myself versus the extra attack, I still atleast 4 attacks per round with master speed and master flurry and will hit more often and be hit less often. -
Has Anyone Got KOTOR 2 TSL Yet?
Siorfin replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It depends on the item, you probably use most of the skills in the creation of one item or another. For instance there is a lightsaber lense you can create that adds 1-12 energy damage and requires 17 awareness. -

The characters seem more fleshed out. The force powers are more abundant making for a wide variety of characters. The skill usage is much more important and also more realistic, unlike the previous game for instance where every terminal required a computer spike even if someone was standing next to it before you killed them to use it I don't think I have come across one terminal I could not access outright yet only highly specialized commands in the terminals which have a direct story tie in for why they are secured. The story is more engaging right from the start. I can go on and on. -

I like it so far and contrary to what some reviews have said it seems less buggy not more than previously. I played for about 5 hours so far and haven't had any problems. Perhaps the bugs don't surface until later. It is just as good as the first one if not better so far. -
Hmm, I forgot about another cool power which lets you play like Vader in ESB. You switch on force deflection and you can deflect blaster bolts without a lightsaber and higher levels allow you to deflect them back at the shooter. There is a new universal line called mind trick which allows you to temporarily distract a target so you can sneak by them and later levels allow for confusion (whatever that does) and possibly multiple targets I don't recall. There is revitalize which resurrects party members with a certain percentage of health and such dependant on level of power I believe but that is mentioned in the game guide on kotor2.com so nothing new there. I know there is something else worth nothing but I can't remember for now.

No spoilers, lets start off by saying that. Everything said here can be read at character as soon as you select your first force power whenever that is. There are quite a few new force powers I don't remember and some others have been improved. For instance the heal line is now 3 powers long and heals any stun effects with its 3rd level, not sure if that is stun or any debilitating power but it says stun or stun effects or something like that. It wouldn't seem very useful if it was just stun since the main sith crowd control power is fear but it will be awhile before I can test since it is an upper level power. There is a drain force power which is darkside and drains like 30 force points from its target will save for half at top level I believe, probably no fp usage since that would limit its usefulness especially at first level which only drains 10, don't quote me though. There is a new universal power which absorbs melee damage and energy absorbtion has been modifed to absorb energy damage as well. There is a VERY big change to some of the force powers which will significantly increase the power of darkside players and specifically consular/sithlords. In kotor1 you will remember your main attack powers such as storm and deathfield were in how much damage they could do, if the descriptions are any indication these powers have been uncapped which means they will be doing double the damage of kotor1 by 20, instead of 40 damage you will get 80 damage at 20 from deathfield and 120 from storm vs 60 before! I am playing lightside now but I can't wait to play through as darkside to mull through things, in kotor1 it didn't make sense to use storm unless there were alot of people because your saber was generally faster but with uncapped damage I can see not ever having to use your saber and on top of that you get the new force stances which can increase that damage even more, insane! Hmm, I can't really think of anything else off the top of my head that is worthy noting but I will reply as I think of stuff.

Question for the Consular gods...
Siorfin replied to ZethstaBane's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
There is a chance progression for classes is different than in kotor1, for instance kotor1 had sentinels and consulars getting 7 feats from 1 to 20 but in kotor2 consular is listed as slow feat progression while sentinel is average implying they get more feats. There are no progression tables out yet for the classes and there are certainly no tables for the prestige classes so good luck getting any templates for awhile. -
Continuity mistake with Mandalore
Siorfin replied to Darth Nuke's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
That of course makes sense but then the starwars databank is wrong, HK-47 was indeed programmed to understand atleast one language specific to tatooine so that supports the assertion by lucasarts starwars databank that he helped locate the starmap for revan and malak. This means there is a hole in the story of kotor1 if he is supposedly built after the war began according to the same story. -
Continuity mistake with Mandalore
Siorfin replied to Darth Nuke's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
What was the exact dialog of that conversation because I don't remember it? According to the starwars databank http://www.starwars.com/databank/droid/hk47/ hk helped revan locate the starmap on tatooine an wiped his memory of that afterwards which is in line with the in game dialog of kotor1 and this happened before revan attacked the republic. Perhaps he is counting the beginning of conquest as happening sometime in the mandalore wars. If revan sent him to defeat the same mandalore he himself eventually fought that is the only explanation and that of course means he began looking for the starmaps before the end of the mandalorian war and so his fall to the darkside began then as well. If anything it sounds like there is a contradiction in the story of kotor1. -
Continuity mistake with Mandalore
Siorfin replied to Darth Nuke's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Where does it say that hk was made after the mandalorian wars, I don't remember reading that anywhere. That is a big contradiction if it is true, if it is not true the second one is not much of a contradiction because it is entirely possible they recieved their orders before the defeat of mandalore and were not aware of the wars end kind of like the stories you hear of japanese soldiers being unaware WW2 ended. -
Continuity mistake with Mandalore
Siorfin replied to Darth Nuke's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
How did they break continuity? In kotor1 it was mentioned that revan defeated mandalore and it can be assumed that since hk-47 was sent by revan to kill mandalore this did happened revan fought him. In the info we have so far, correct me if I am wrong with the right info, from kotor2 revan defeated mandalore and the clans scattered (perfectly in tune with the kotor1 story) being leaderless, defeated, and largely disarmed by the republic until the rise of a new mandalore in kotor2. There is no lack of continuity there, quite the opposite in fact. -
do you wish more time was spent on the game?
Siorfin replied to Exar_Kun's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The goal of this game was that it would be released within a year of the previous one. Given that goal I don't see how they could have fixed the most commonly named problem, year old graphics, since they were not using an already established engine but rather working on the game while bioware was modifying the nwn engine to be used for kotor1 (which was also in development at the same time). They were running a tight schedule so I don't see how they could fix the most glaring "issues". -
Why did obsisdian remove all Xbox Live features
Siorfin replied to JediMafia's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Not everyone uses xbox live. I for one don't use it because the prospect of paying 20 bucks a month just for minor updates I could download for free if I played the same game on a pc isn't worth it to me. -
