Keep it cool guys.
-
:D Neither actually. I'd prefer it to stay on track so it 'doesn't' get closed ( as long as you guys want it anyway ).
-
Get back to working on your blog you!

I was about to say that as well, do you really think that his first language is English Mothie? Edit: Right, many english speakers does have terrible spelling, I agree. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've noticed that Battlewookie does better at writing in English than many of those born to it. That's probably what caused the confusion. He writes it too well to be a foreigner. You guys are doing well BTW. 11 pages of arguement and no flaming. Nice.

When you find one, let me know. Actually, if you guys can come up with something reasonable and comprehensive, we can condense the spam out of it and sticky it. ( Providing I'm not stepping on anyone's toes anyway ).
-
Well...this was nice. Other than a couple of coherent posts, this was little more than a pissing match. If you guys want to start and assemble a 'real' list of helper tips for noobs, we can probably put together something. This wasn't terribly helpfull though. Thread closed.

One more example of why we figure that even Mother Teresa would tell you to get f***ed.

The Evergreen tree ( Christmas tree ) is the symbol from Diety that Spring will return. Kinda like the Christian version of the rainbow. A promise from God. The Yule log is usually part of the previous year's tree. A bit of continuity from year to year. Holly is the green ( evergreen ) symbol of the 'God in winter'( oak during summer ). It's colours of red and green represent the union of God and Goddess ( also represented by bloodstone ).

Pruned talk about 'sandwiches'. Not too sure what that meant but it wasn't on topic. Get a room you NAMBLA wannabes.

Hey Hades! Get with the Xmas spirit dammit! Do what I do when the Xmas cheer gets a little too nauseating. Remove the ..uh..solids from a cat litter box and lovingly package them in a reasonable size box. Wrap it in pretty paper with a nice bow and 'accidentally forget' it somewhere where someone is sure to take it ( obviously in search of the rightfull owner ). If you're really nice to us you'll post some pics of the people taking it here.

Stickied ( for a while at least ). Don't spam it up guys.

I know it's tough but drag it back on topic guys.

I think the original was "Thou shalt not murder".

No I believe I was spot on and now you will wriggle uncomfortably. By your own words you said that the murder of abortion doctors and nurses was less wrong than the murder of another doctor or nurse. This is a value your so religion has led you to adopt. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm siding with what Mothdude is saying although he probably could have stated it a little better. It's not condoned by mainstream Christianity to kill abortionists, however, if you want to simply count numbers, killing a few is 'better' than an epidemic of killing as many medical staff as you could lay your hands on. It could be worse. The entirety of a religion shouldn't be blamed for the 'sins of the few'. This is what many Muslims are having to put up with in the US because of the actions of a few and it isn't any more right in this instance either. To provide spiritual support for those that follow Christianity under less than desirable circumstances. I used to do a lot of volunteer work for a Christian church. Certainly not because I like Christianity. I did it because they offered spiritual and emotional support to a part of society that many wished would simply die as part of God's will. It was a church that catered to gays. Sometimes religious officials have to work under less than ideal conditions. The church may not support a war but they had better support those that get stuck in the trenches doing the fighting for their country.

:D Let's get back on track here guys. This thread 'is' about posting a little about yourselves. We did learn here however that most of you like the 'Groucho' smilie ( and that it scares Gabrielle ). I'll ask that it be added to the selection here. Let's see... My name is scott Age/Gender-43/male ( married ) Trade-Journeyman Pipefitter Lvl III . ( welder, HVAC, low/ultra-low temp refrigeration ( cryonic ), deep vaccum systems ( 50 micron ), electrical, some chemistry, general mechanic, hobbyist linguist, general computer fumbler ) Science fiction/fantasy reader . Favorite authors- Frank Herbert, Robert Heinlein, Harry Harrison Interests-Keeping my daughter out of trouble , computer stuff, RPG games, avenging myself on those that screw me, improving my general skills in whatever direction presents itself. Have few people that I would call 'friend' but will stand by those that I do.

Evolution in action.

You only need to reload if you have to 'shoot' a second person. When the taser hits a target, it delivers @ 5 seconds of charge and then stops or about 10-15 seconds. After that, it discarges again until turned off. When fired, the trigger locks into the on position. I told my kid that if she ever uses it, to drop it and go have a cigarette. If he's done twitching and smoking when she comes back, he's about done. BTW-Tasers dump several hundred microdots when fired. These contain colour and hexadecimal codes that identify the purchaser ( assuming you allowed the purchase to be registered of course ).

When I said the 'Right Faith', I was speaking about not following whatever faith was 'in vogue' at the time. Kinda like our politicians ( pandering, road-kill eating maggots that would bend over for a pack of cigarettes ) and their morals du jour. Many of today's Pagans refer to it as 'taking the path less travelled'. Or it's simply not important enough to go around proselityzing your belief system. What works for one may not work for another. The term 'pluralism' comes to mind here. Don't give too much credit to the Pagani. As I remember, it was the Roman Pagans that let the lions snack on those pesky, upstart Christians. Asatru also comes to mind. BTW-Nice bunch of posts guys. Discussions like this that inform but don't turn into pissing matches are always fun to read.

Yes. They have an replaceable head that can be changed out in 3 seconds if you're quick. If you just pop the firing head off the taser becomes and extremely high voltage shock stick. Same voltage but now you have to 'reach out and touch someone' . It was the 15 foot range that made me favour it for my daughter. I wanted that extra distance between her and some goon. Police models fire up to 25 feet BTW. Those aren't allowed for civilians ( Right! Watch me " ).

It's a strong paralytic. Some island tribes ( I don't remember who ) used to dip blowdarts in it and shoot intruders. Their heads soon became keyring decorations.

How so? Did I mis-spell it?

Be nice guys.

It would have little effect on someone that was pumped up on drugs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I bought a Taser for my daughter a couple of years ago ( with her temper, I didn't trust her with a gun ). Short of curare, I don't think you could pump enough drugs into someone and still remain standing for a taser hit. I've taken various martial arts and had my share of fights but after playing with her taser, I never want someone hitting me with one of those. I would prefer to fight someone with a knife or a chain than a taser. Forget that stupid demo stuff or what you see in the movies. The AirTaser that I bought for my kid throws out around 75,000 volts. I've tinkered with voltages in the several thousands but nothing like that kind of juice. Thought about buying a smaller one to use as a tesla 'pump' for my Staff of Lightning'. To make sure you knocked him out immediately, you'd definitely overdose the dumb shmuck. Not that he didn't deserve it. Ask the Russians.

Why would they not care if it is right!? that is very disturbing. I know many people would agree with me that extremist terrorists are a result of that, among some other reasons. I don't understand why one wouldn't want the truth. this boggles my mind. "They simply follow the belief system that suits them best" humans are lazy creatures... Those that think that are shallow thinkers. It is those that 'know' that they follow the true and only way that create religious tensions amongst themselves and others. Those that are not interested in furthering their faith are not likely to go to war for purposes of 'converting the heathens'. The heathens would usually prefer to simply be left alone. Heathen means 'of the hearth' by the way. Doesn't sound so threatening to one's faith in that context does it? Polytheists believing in many gods adds variety to the religious 'banquet' if you will. Pantheists see Diety in nature and tend to be less destructive. Pantheists also have little or no interest in converting new people to their faith. What harm can you possibly find in that? As far as 'Truth' goes...what truth? Why is your 'Truth' more true than mine? Many faiths are what are called 'Revelatory' religions. Christianity, Judism and Islam are examples of revelatory religions. All is revealed. Pagan faiths are typically 'Mystery' religions where the adherants must learn and solve the 'Truth' for themselves. Hence the 'mystery' part. People that spend time attempting to understand life's mysteries tend to have a little deeper understanding of those around them ( and even less interest in interfering ). This is one of the most appealing differences between today's religions and some of the older ones. People partied with their Gods. I can't imagine too many church socials where God was invited to share a beer with them. Wodensdag was the version I'd always heard.
