You have a scientific background, so I don't need to remind you that studies are generally the only way we can reliably reach objective conclusions about reality. It's entirely possible that those studies are somehow flawed (relevant in light of the Sokal 2.0 thing a few pages back), but I wasn't able to find anything better. I suppose I can't say your original statement was strictly wrong, as you said the violence "seems" to be coming all from one side. It certainly "seems" that way, if you deliberately choose sources like Fox News and exclude anything with an iota more journalistic rigor. My point was simply that it's really not. If we're not taking facts into consideration, we might as well go full-on flat earther. And it's funny that you think we're so diametrically opposed ideologically. The only significant contention point I can think of is the importance you ascribe to the right to private property in the scale of fundamental rights.

SW: The Old Republic - Episode VIII (May RNG Be With You)

Yeah, that's at least a step in the right direction. Now all they need to do is have those stories not suck so much ass as the Zakuul arc. I doubt I'll ever resub myself, the whole Command Rank thing just makes me want to shut down the computer and go outside every time I read about it, but I just found who that fave character of yours is that's coming back, so maybe there's hope for this game yet. -
That sounds awesome and something I will certainly not have the time (or focus) for. Good to know we're close to solving the Fermi paradox, though.

SW: The Old Republic - Episode VIII (May RNG Be With You)

Took a look at Dulfy's. You mean the thing with the crafting or are they doing something worthwhile story-wise, or...? -
Fair point. However I'd be perfectly happy if a smaller studio did a Fallout game with a fraction of the budget, that wasn't just another iteration of Oblivion with guns (now with multiplayer!). Then again, inXile's Wasteland 2 didn't exactly grip me either, so...

https://qz.com/1182778/the-far-right-was-responsible-for-the-majority-of-extremist-killings-in-2017/ https://www.npr.org/2017/06/16/533255619/fact-check-is-left-wing-violence-rising?t=1539535571134 https://www.forbes.com/sites/realspin/2017/08/21/which-ideology-has-inspired-the-most-murders-in-terrorist-attacks-on-u-s-soil/ This is data, and it bears repeating that the plural of anecdote isn't data. What prominent Democrats have called for Trump's assassination? Honest question. It's good that you have at least amended your view that violence all seems to be coming from one side—even if you accept that perpetrators can be placed anywhere in the normal political spectrum.

Unless the side you're referring to is the "violent" side, then I'm afraid you're dead wrong. edit: wait, wait. Is this one of those times when we argue that nazis are actually left-wing?
-
You absolutely shouldn't swing unless you're ready to take a punch or two yourself. Starting **** with some rough characters and then hiding behind the very cops you protest against strikes me as very... contemporary. I simply thought it odd that politically motivated street violence seems to be on the rise in the country with the worst political system except all others.
-
I'm not sure I'd use "beauty" to describe a system that "works" based on the people it's meant to serve consistently being pissed off about the results it produces, but what do I know. In other news, hooligans duke it out on the streets. Fun times.

Pretty simple, really. If they fail, the IP they own will be up for grabs by someone who might do something better with it than simply re-iterate on the same formula except to jump on the games-as-a-service bandwagon. Their success will also be taken by others as proof that paid mods can be made to work, which is something most people probably don't want. Me, I don't care either way. But I'd bet my bottom dollar that it'll sell like hotcakes. Bethesda may suck at making games, but it's plain that they are great at delivering stuff that a lot of people want.

Yes! I was hoping someone would resurrect this thread (sorry, all my 7th level slots are reserved for Unholy Word).

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Mod Apeiron Shut Down By Lucasfilm I guess it was inevitable, though perhaps this means there's some interest in half-assing the project internally.

I don't understand why they used a controller for the stream. Are console ports even on the table?

That would be her character. Her looks were very young as most of sorceresses. Is there any explanation in the books as to why sorceresses use magic to look smoking hot while mages dgaf or is it just "women need to take advantage of their looks to get to positions of power while men already are in such positions"?

https://features.propublica.org/trump-inc-podcast/sheldon-adelson-casino-magnate-trump-macau-and-japan/ It'd be hilarious if this backfired for good ol' Shelly because of Trump's lack of tact and shamelessness. Won't happen though. This is the kind of deal not even he can botch.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5194726/fullcredits Yeah... I guess that's what happens when you have too much money to produce a game with. And there's a distinct lack of Malcolm McDowell.

Cyberpunk 2077 enlists help of studio which built Dying Light PvP I also remember CDPR getting a grant from the Polish gov't to develop a multiplayer experience or something along those lines, so I guess they are going to do it, one way or another.

Fixed. Reminder that he was one of the authors of the Starr Report that argued for impeaching Clinton.

Excellent, comrade. I take it we'll be seeing you at the next committee session, then?

Wow. You actually scoured the map for the eleventy billion collectibles needed to actually get to the fight? Hats off. I liked Knight but the district clearing got old relatively quick. And yeah, too much tank. I liked Origins the most. Which is funny because it's the only one not by Rocksteady.

Ladies and gentleman, presenting to you: Homo Sovieticus Prime. I don't know what point you're trying to make here, but I'm sure that even you would agree that that you don't need to provide your opposition with arguments to shout you down, when it's a well-documented fact that inciting anger in your audience is the worst way to convince them of anything, and especially when said arguments are tangential at best to the position you're defending. In short, a tenured physics professor presenting himself as a butthurt Jordan Peterson groupie is doing himself no favors. Perhaps. But it's unlikely that, outside of the conspiracy crap, the arguments by themselves would have been sufficient cause to trigger an "ethics" inquiry, had he presented them more objectively. The actual presentation seems to have been removed from the CERN website, which is kind of bad form, too. edit: seems that the reason for removal is the naming/shaming which is explicitly against the Code of Conduct.

He's also facing disciplinary action by his university. In short, his career is likely over. However, and as you would expect, it's terrible reporting by the Beeb. The issue seems to be not so much the points he discussed, but the way he presented them—calling out people by name, ranting about "cultural marxism" and in general coming off as a temper tantrum over the fact that a woman was hired over him. Sad that whatever data he collected and any possible merit his research may have will be disregarded in a classic style over substance maneuver, but he should have known better than to give any ammunition to those in charge of the system he's criticizing.

Stellaris is now on GOG. Here's hoping this is only the beginning and we'll see the complete Paradox catalog there. It's at least a step towards regaining goodwill after the whole Gamersgate debacle. I'm tempted to buy it again. (and something something about voting for a giveaway)

That looks like the foundation for a platform to run on, I reckon. Ye for President '24. Ye(a) or nay?
