  1. Great point you have there, indeed. Well, yes. If from the murder total you substract those that didn't involve previous planning, the rest are mostly, planned crimes. Uncanny logic you got there, buddy. Read the newspapers, watch the news. All the stats you should need are there. It's not everyday a DC sniper pops up, fortunately. Interestingly enough, those were different times and for starters, you couldn't buy an assault rifle at the grocery.
  2. Alas, I understand what you're saying.
  3. Yet another well reasoned and backed point by the master of self-righteousness, Volourn. So? If DA had been such a great sales success, you might think Herve would at least have had money to keep the licenses of the products that such a good result were giving him. But it's pointless to argue about this. Post some figures and prove me wrong. No, they weren't. They pretty much sucked as action games and there was no rp'ing element to speak of. The only appealing aspect could be the co-op mode, but even that got old pretty fast.
  4. Uh? It was demeaning in that it used a great RPG series' name to sell some b-rated action game. With RPG combat mechanics perhaps, but an action game nonetheless. If it hadn't been called Baldur's Gate, it would have gone down the toilet even quicker. It didn't feature any of the elements that made the BG games great, and as an action game, it left a lot to be desired. If that's not demeaning a franchise, nothing is. Oh and um, yeah. DA did outstanding as far as sales are concerned. So great that Herve couldn't even afford to keep the BG licenses. ROFL
  5. I just love it when people go to any lengths to illustrate their points.
  6. After demeaning the franchise with the craptacular DA, I'm not so sure BG 3 would do so well sales wise. The Quest for the Holy Pantaloons however... ^_^
  7. Um, a species comprised exclusively of females? I don't know for sure but I don't think so. But then again it's TotJ, and totally preposterous things are not unheard of there. )
  8. Movies and books don't have to have their bugs fixed so a cliffhanger ending might work depending on the story. However, if at the end of a buggy game I am awarded a cliffhanger, I will be rather pissed because I will most likely not be buying the next installment of the saga. Movies and books aren't as expensive as games either.
  9. No, there's at least one miraluka Jedi I can think of in the TotJ comics. I can't remember her name and I'm too lazy to look it up.
  10. Never played Fable either, but Morrowind was... odd. After beating the main baddy, you just... kept going. No cinematic ending, no credits, nothing. As I said, no ending to speak of. Saying it was disappointing is an understatement.
  11. That's not fair. Morrowind had no ending to speak of. "
  12. That would actually make it seem closer to the dreadful 'Dark Alliance' series rather than to the original BG saga. We wouldn't want that, now would we?
  13. Um, so then nothing is a true RPG, and at the same time, anything is? It all depends on what you consider to be an RPG or something? Come now, you can't have a discussion if every term is absolutely debatable and perfectly undefined. I agree though, that there may be more variety as to what games can be considered a RPG than with any other genre, but still, some games just don't fit that description, no matter what. It doesn't mean they are worse, or I don't like them, no. But it doesn't make sense to call them what they're not. For me, rather than game mechanics, it's the chance to create a new personality (which not necessarily implies creating a new character) and develop it through actions and plot choices what I consider to be the fundamental characteristic of a RPG. A game which meets this criteria I will usually consider it a RPG, and vice versa. Not a very complex criteria, yet very discriminating, you see.
  14. In fact this is not regarding the ending scene of the game itself, but the 'post-ending' in which you see how your actions have affected the world. Obviously for the endgame I want to have a cinematic experience, which can hardly be provided by a dialogue. However, for the 'post-ending' part, I can live with a well written and moving dialogue, even though nothing beats a slideshow a la Fallout.
  15. Yep. But it's more than that, it turns out that the more effects you combine into a single spell, no matter how weak those effects are, cause the spell failure chance to skyrocket, effectively negating the combination advantages. Another L A M E thing about the custom spell system was that you had to purchase the spells from some shop wizard. Funny that even after attaining a level of power in which you could have kicked any mage's ass easily, you still had to get out of your Tower of High Wizardry to go shopping for spells. Not to mention you would be charged an insane amount of money for a moderately powerful custom spell you had designed. ROFL They had an excellent idea for a CRPG magic system, which they managed to waste completely. Suckage.
  16. Use [spoiler ] just like the other tags to hide text.
  17. Sadly, diablo lacks the role-playing part in RPG. No real choices, you just listen to people tell you stuff and off you go to kill some monsters. That's more like an action game to me. Action with RPG combat mechanics, perhaps, but action at last.
  18. Funny you would say that. It seems originally Deadeye Duncan was supposed to survive the bombardment and escape the planet. You would encounter him later on Manaan. For some reason that encounter got cut before release, but it's still in the game and there was this mod to re-enable it. It wasn't really completed and so there was a glitch with it but it's still fun.
  19. In fact since you automatically receive the 'weapon finesse: lightsaber' feat, it actually pays to go for DEX rather than STR, since a STR of 20 will earn you +5 dmg per hit and to hit rolls,, but the same value of DEX will grant you a +5 dodge bonus to Def and to hit rolls. Um, wait. We're talking about K2 right? Where no matter what you do, you can't get yourself killed. Never mind then. <_<
  20. Meh. Personally, I don't take much joy in lying down in the grass or staring at the trees. But then again, I don't take much joy in anything. Just let people sink in the bottomless pit of nothingness that is nihilism.
  21. You can be a rampant powerlamer in almost any RPG. That's fine with me for as long as it's not forced upon me.
  22. I don't know if that's supposed to be good... or bad.
  23. Nuka-Cola, the flavored softdrink of the post-nuclear world. Warm and flat.
  24. Dude! Now that's Real Ultimate Power!
