  1. In my endless quest for greatness in gaming I have come across a few oldies that just *won't* run under XP. So I thought I'd do something every geek wannabe wants to do: different partitions. I'm formatting the HD soon anyway, so it doesn't really bother me if the partitions can only be made at that point. What I need help with/info about is: How do I create different partitions with different OSs? (tools needed if any?) How do I select which partition is used to boot the system? Are different file systems compatible and if so, to what extent? (ie. in one partition XP @ NTFS and in the other W98 @ FAT16/32) And that's about all I can think of right now. I'm sure I'll come up with more questions later. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'd rather not sign up on another forum just for this. :D
  2. Is this a direct quote from George W. Bush? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Gold. Well, it sucks that the odds of each outcome are always mathematically calculated. There should be "auto-win" conditions, especially when the units fighting are from different eras. An ironclad sinking my nuclear submarine? Preposterous!
  3. That's pretty cool. However I still think he owned those fools too easy. They kicked lots of ass in the comics and in the Clone Wars cartoon, and they die in a fraction of a second.
  4. Speak for yourself. If I come out of an exam tearing my shirt and pulling my hair it's unlikely I have passed the exam. The opposite isn't necessarily true, but usually if I have studied, exams are a breeze. Now for our little useless info tidbit for the scientifically illiterate: Alternating current is much more deadly than direct current.
  5. Well, that sounds like it could work (never tried that game, though), but I can see how forcing people to purchase a gamepad only to play a particular game could hurt sales.
  6. I don't think Palps could have stood against Anakin after the showdown with Mace. It could all be a scene, but if so, he was taking a HUGE risk with it. But overall, I don't think Anakin's fall was rushed. He didn't just turn evil, he was confused by the emperor's lies (which were one of the most solid parts of the movie IMO) and all he cared about was saving Padme, pressed even further by his prophetic dreams. Dreams that I think probably were Palps' handiwork to begin with...
  7. Yeah, only Kreia wasn't evil. Just senile.
  8. Read my post again! )
  9. I don't know about Georgia or the eastern countries that used to be part of the old USSR (Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, etc), but Ukraine for one isn't doing that bad. For instance I think their importance as a touristic destination is rapidly increasing. And as for the others, well, they are now free from the Russian rule, so it's up to them to get the country going. At least now they have a chance to to run the country, which they didn't have under the USSR.
  10. And here I thought you were a respectable gamer... <_< I think you can redeem yourself easily, though. Aren't the old Indy games abandonware by now?
  11. Gee, thanks Jags. The one thing I needed right now was you reminding me how great is a game I'll probably never play. Stop rubbing my nose, you!
  12. If they can actually manage to get the saber action right, I'm all for a JK-style game. Just imagine Vader growing tired of running after that puny Jedi and drawing his concussion cannon... " But at any rate, the saber mechanics are, to me, the most important part of such a game. I don't want them to turn it into another bunny jumping, air-slashing, rollfest. That was fun, but it's got old.
  13. Right. And it remains to be proven that you would purchase such computer at the retailer in case you couldn't "clone" it, thus making the retailer lose money with your "theft". Nope, sorry but internet filesharing is not the same as "stealing". No matter what the RIAA/MPAA say.
  14. You, my dear, are either truly paranoid or completely ignorant of what the concept of MAD entails. Or perhaps you just underestimate the chances of nuclear war happening during the Cold War. You say that the soviets weren't martyrs but you are quite wrong. They were willing to retaliate to a nuclear attack with one of their own even knowing that such action would only mean to die killing. Isn't that what a martyr does? We have seen what terrorism is capable of at its worst. It can't be much worse than 9/11. It has been argued that the next step is an attack using a small nuke or a biological weapon. Not even that would come close to what a large scale nuclear war would have caused. It is likely that mankind itself would not survive such a thing. So, by all standards, we are safer today than we were back in the '60s.
  15. It's true that you didn't explicitly claim that everyone that's against abortion is a religious zealot, but a certain quoted comment was meant to dismiss that stance as the result of bigotry (in this case, religious). And if it didn't then it was just out of line. But anyway. In fact only the last paragraph of my post was about that. Now it's you who's ignoring stuff. And why the hell do I sound more and more like a religious person each passing day!?
  16. Uh, I'm not sure what was your intent with that comment, but I know mine wasn't to offend anyone. I wasn't baiting... this time. If anyone has taken offense, I apologize.
  17. Right. People with anger management issues wouldn't snap your neck "under normal circumstances" either, but if you piss them off, they will. They lose control too and their instincts take over. Does that mean that people with such issues shouldn't be prosecuted?
  18. Not as often as I'd like to, no. Now please enlighten me. Exactly, how does that relate to anything? I'd like to hear your opinions as a sex lame retort master.
  19. I'm all for people accepting responsibility for their actions. While I accept that in some cases and under certain circumstances abortion is not only an acceptable but the preferable option, I'm not sure I like the idea of abortion being equiparable to condoms or the day-after pill as an anti-conceptive method. It might be shocking to some, but pregnancy is the obvious result of sex. As things are right now it's easy enough to avoid that result (provided that we aren't talking about rape) without resorting to abortion. If anything, the only reason I can find that would warrant abortion (again, provided there are no other medical reasons) would be to spare the child the experience of having such stupid parents and to prevent that stupidity from being passed on to the child by the genes. And please don't resort to putting words in people's mouths (I'm referring to that comment about childbirth and God) because not everyone that is against an "anything goes" attitude towards abortion is a religious zealot. You can do better than that.
  20. And you should play the Hitmans... damn cool games.
  21. It is not so easy to support because it's based on a false premise. While it's true that famine is a serious problem in some parts of the world, it's not true that there isn't enough food in the world to feed everyone, or that enough food couldn't be produced. Not to mention that killing people for whatever reasons (even if they are a burden to society) is forbidden in most countries. And last time I checked, when you eat someone, they tend to die in the process. That would make implementing your suggestion complicated... from a legal standpoint. I guess that depends on how you define "better". By my standards they are way better off this way. But I don't think the USSR was some kind of utopic eden, so that's just my opinion. And about the mafias, well, with the USSR it was more or less the same, only back then gangsters wore uniforms and addressed you as "comrade". Can't argue with the fact that the rich got even richer, but it's true too that the world is a safer place now without the menace of MAD hovering over our heads, so all in all I'd say it was a fair exchange.
  22. I don't think that's true. At least not in the EU. And if it was, everyone in the galaxy would end up being Force sensitive, considering that the children of non-Force sensitive can be so.
  23. You have too much faith in fans attending to reason. "Begun, the Canon Wars have"
  24. I don't get it. Are you on some kind of anti-capitalist crusade? I don't think I will be getting neither, at least until prices drop a bit and not unless there are some games that I really want to try. Not because I don't like consoles, simply because I can't afford to buy everything I like. And if everything works out as it should, I won't have time for gaming, either.
  25. If you need to ask that, you are too sensible to grasp the answer.
