I really only trust Computer Gaming World, but every review is honest if you read carefully. Game companies will always try and endear themselves to reviewers, and you can usually tell how affected someone is by that.

The Rangers are getting solid goaltending, as Volourn has pointed out a few times. I think that plays a major part in thier success. The Sharks have gone 22-11-5 since Thornton came over. It's hard to say that they'd be a middling team if they had him at the beginning of the season. But again, if they don't make the playoffs, I say no MVP for Thornton, and I'd say the same for Jagre. Ovechkin scores a lot of goal because his team is down by a few and the other team is playing the 3rd and 4th lines. It is easier to score when you are already down by 5 or 6, because your opponents are relaxed. He would deserve a scoring title, but not an MVP award in my eyes. An MVP should be a guy who make the whole team better too, and I think Jagre and Thornton both epitomize that.
-
If the Sharks make the playoffs, I say Thornton has as much claim to the MVP title as Jagre. But that's a big "if" because the Sharks are going to have to win at least 3 out of every 4 to make it in. It's going to be an interesting final 20 games.

HYPE! RPGs have pretty much always tracked this. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> All RPG's track in some way, but I've seen a lot of NPC's have absolutely no clue that I just saved their village. I get my reward, and everyone walks around treating me the same. That's lame.
-
Why does Anahiem seem to be the place where washed up players go to recover? First Selanne, now Friesen. Thornton is now tied with Jagre, and he's played two less games.

This is ppretty shocking news. I'm excited to see what they come up with, as I think they are one of the few companies with a real attention to detail. I can't think of anyone else who can compete with Blizzard on a MMO. I really want to know what the setting will be, but I imagine it will be about 4 years until we see the product.

AI intelligence is very problematic, especially with a game as large as Oblivion is supposed to be. I think I read the Gothic III is trying to create a system where the gameworld is constantly updating your progress, so NPC's know if they've talked to you, if you've had an impact on them, etc.

Is Star Wars Battlefront II any good ?

Eeek, didn't want to sound rude Eldar, I just was surprised at the dates. It was definitely better to use the search then start a new thread, sorry about my glib comment. -
It looks like Dark Ages of Camelot.

Where the heck did this thread come from? Eldar, major necro action here, 4 months old. -
I'll second Firefly (the TV series) and Serenity (the movie.) Bladerunner is my all-time favorite movie. Not really because of the story, but rather the world that Ridley Scott created on film. For books, don't forget "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy." Actually the movie was decent as well, but you can't beat the book.

Ozolinsh isn't a great defenseman, but he's better than most forwards. He also used to be pretty speedy in his heyday. I haven't seen him play much lately, so I don't know if he lost that. He could make a run at the net and still get back on D.
-
I just noticed that Ozolinsh got trade by the Ducks to the Rangers for pretty much nothing. That amazed me. Ozolinsh is a very talented defenseman and it's not easy to find good powerplay quarterbacks in this league. I know he had a substance abuse problem, but I don't think he's like Fluery. I'm very shocked, this seems like a major steal for the Rangers. Of course, New York used to be where good players went to die...but that hasn't been the case this season.

It's a hybrid. While it has more role playing aspects, it still is more of a strategy game. It's just like the new career mode in Madden where you follow the career of your own players...it's definitely an RPG aspect, but it's still primarily a sports game.

What new games are you looking forward to?

Jagged Alliance 3. Unless it sucks...which is a high probability. Isn't Turbine releasing a LotR MMO this year? If it's like Asheron's Call, then I'll be happy. If it's like AC2, then I won't. Oh, the WoW expansion...still curious what the new race is. -
Kaftan, I already explained that NOT buying products does NOT help the gaming industry. If you really want to convince Microsoft to focus more on PC development, you need to make sure people are buying PC games. If Microsoft sees the console market die, they will just pull out of gaming as a whole. That doesn't benefit any gamers. On Ghost Recon, I plan on picking it up next month. It has 4 co-op maps that I'm looking forward to trying with my dad. It definitely looks like the best title so far.

I could be at the game right now, but I wussed out because I get up so early for work. I even turned down free tickets Honestly I'd only get like 4 hours of sleep if I went. In fact, I better go to bed, it looks like they've got it wrapped up

Duke Nukem Forever -
It's funny, I've really started getting excited about Oblivion. I even spent a few bucks to get an Oblivion theme on my Xbox Live console. It's sad, I know, but I really wanted to see what a theme was like. It's...not worth the money, but it does make me smile a bit. I also started up Morrowind a few weeks ago. The game still has it's flaws, but I've had a good time just exploring the world and reconnecting with the Elder Scrolls universe.
-
Ah, my bad, I can't check ESPN at work and I assumed it was a different Morrison...actually maybe I was thinking Brendan Morrow.

I'm playing a snowboarding game called Amped on the Xbox360, and I'm impressed. It's got similiar gameplay to Tony Hawk, which I've always enjoyed, and just a great blend of cutscenes, humor, and music. You also have a bit more freedom to explore an entire mountain, instead of just doing one track at a time like a racecar game. It's also the cheapest game on the 360.

Great, they really needed another guy who can score.

I know the laws are behind when it comes to technology, but I don't see how pirating software off the internet is any different than walking into a store and pocketing a CD. The argument seems to be that the value is the CD itself and not the content held on it. The fact is, legality does not equal morality. Just because there are gray areas doesn't mean you should do it. I also scoff at the argument that Kaftan is trying to stick it to the corporate machines of Microsoft and Sony. Have you ever tried to run a business? Do you really understand the complexities of running a huge corporation? There is no evil empire. They are trying to maximize profits. That's business. Boycotting consoles will not get you anywhere because there are a ton of console consumers. If you really want to enact change, you need to put your energy into supporting the product you like, and trying to convince others to buy them. Have you ever noticed that companies are not judged on profit, but rather on their growth? If Microsoft and Sony were to suddenly stop growing they would collapse. That would be an extremely negative thing for ANY gamer. It would be a huge set back for our industry. All developers would suffer because of this.

Colorado just gave up a consistent goalie for a guy who can't even play for two more weeks. I'm hoping that this costs them a playoff spot. Looking at the Roloson trade, I really think it's a good move. Edmonton should be able to make the playoffs with its current squad. The Sharks picked up Ville Niemenan. I've heard of him, but I don't know why. He looks like a pretty average winger. I guess the Sharks feel he'll bring in some energy. What they really need is a good defenseman. They only have 2 guys with real experience, and Hannan seems broken.

I think it has more to do with simplicity of use and price. PC's tend to require some knowledge to get working, whereas a console is all about putting in the disc and playing. A solid PC also costs more. Pretty much everyone has a TV, so adding a console is cheaper than buying an entire computer.
