  1. My most memorable romance was hooking up with both girls in Jade Empire. Given that it will never happen in real life, it was nice to do so in a game.
  2. Um, I don't think the "What You are Playing Now" thread needs a daily update when you are playing the same game. Proper forum etiquette also would dictate you say something more than simply the game title. For example: I'm still playing Age of Conan. I've reached level 17 and I'm almost out of the newbie island. There was a lot of server downtime this weekend, but the game launches officially today, so if you are interested go buy it. It's actually pretty stable if you have a good rig.
  3. I think you can make they argument that any militant nation is savage, and really all the major empires in the world have relied on their military. Were the Mongols worse than the Romans, the Macedonians, or even the British Navy? They all have episodes of savagery in their history.
  4. I agree with Sand. With great power comes great responsibility.
  5. Um, the Mongolians took over China (The Yuan Dynasty). They established the Silk Road, hired Marco Polo, and created a pretty awesome postal service.
  6. I think I picked the Pens last round, so I went 1-1. I like Detroit for the Cup though. I think defensively they are just too strong. Pittsburgh will hopefully make it exciting.
  7. Your face is ridiculous.
  8. I don't think they are really similiar enough to make an easy comparison. They are really tailored to very different audiences. Take the combat, aside from a raid, WoW has a fairly slow pace to the fighting. It's almost turn based, in essence, and you can strategize a few moves ahead pretty easily. Conan has more of an action RPG feel to it, and in some ways it's closer to a fighting game. You have three zones of attack, left, right and center. You choose which of these three to swing at depending on how your opponent is defending. But you also have combo moves to use, and you need to think about when to use what combo. You can also fake an opponent by hitting a few times from the left, having him reposition his defense, and then using a powerful combo on the right. It is fairly easy to pick it up in game, but it requires a greater concentration. Couple this with the fact that you are usually fighting two or more mobs, and you have a pretty frenetic fighting pace. The setting is also dramatically different. It's like comparing Harry Potter to George RR Martin's Fire and Ice series.
  9. Actually, WoW has the most rigorous DRM process of them all.
  10. Reached level 15 in Age of Conan as a Cimmerian Gaurdian. The first 20 levels are pretty much a single player experience, in fact originally it was designed as such. It's a pretty decently paced story experience. You don't reach the main world until level 20, although you do share the beginner area with others.
  11. Hmm...I liked Fallout AND I like Bethesda's entire lineup of games. Woohoo!
  12. Have you played through the Shivering Isles part? I found that a heck of a lot more entertaining than the original game. It seemed much more full of life.
  13. ME rocks. Worrying about DRM is lame. Enjoy the epic Space Opera.
  14. Hmm...I really didn't think it through much, Sulik just made me think of Hamous for some reason. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ytp7zlSnf0 I always loved Hamous. Maybe it's the fact they both have accents and talk with a strange syntax. Maybe it's because they are both fiesty natives. Maybe I'm just being racist
  15. Sulik was awesome in JA2 with his Ice Cream truck.
  16. I still believe! I think it's expected at the end of the year. I'm in the Warhammer beta as well. It's definitely a PvP focused game. That's not my style, but it seems like a solid title.
  17. Oh hey, lets not forget the whole 33 year gap between 3-0 comebacks. So will it be Philly or Dallas? Dallas made the first step towards an upset already.
  18. Phaneuf was pretty impressive in his seven game series, as was Iginla. He managed 7 points I believe, 3 of which were goals, and he had some big hits. He just didn't have a supporting cast. They still managed to go seven games.
  19. I'm not talking about using the forum, I'm talking about the fact that this forum in its entirety is dedicated to Obsidian. It would seem odd to hang out here if you weren't a fan of at least one of their titles. It was really directed more at Pidesco and his retarded bastard comment.
  20. I'm a bit surprised by the bashing of KotOR on these boards. Do you people also dislike KotOR II? Considering that makes up about half of this forum's reason for existence, I'm a bit surprised you would spend time here.
  21. I played WoW for about two years, and I found that LotR Online really replaced my WoW fix. The games are fairly similiar in terms of PvE. It's also extremely well polished and you get a lot of content. AoC is much rougher around the edges, and I have a feeling the launch is going to be a bit disastrous. Still, it's a much more unique MMO. It has a new and interesting approach to combat and it's a much grittier fantasy setting. I'm not quite ready to recommend it, but I imagine in a few months when the initial release storm has passed, it will be a very entertaining game. I'm not canceling my LotR Online subscription though.
  22. I'm a bit worried that trying to put them in chronological order when Howard himself wrote them somewhat randomly will take away from the experience. According to the introduction, Howard himself recommended not putting them chronologically. It's been pretty easy to follow regardless. I'm about halfway through the first of three books, and I really like how most of the stories can be completed in a brief sitting.
  23. The year 2109.
  24. Oh, you gotta tell me how well the release client will run. All that whining on the AoC boards about performance issues have left me with some mixed feelings. I had issues the first week of open beta, but they implemented a patch a couple days before the end that basically fixed my problems. The game runs well on a high end machine, and I imagine DirectX 10 will help as well. It's buggy though, no doubt about it. There are a few issues with clipping and a good deal of general crashes. It's not going to be the most polished release, but I think in a few months they'll have the technical stuff sorted out.
  25. I've started on Robert Howard's Conan books. I think the first is Conan the Conquerer, which is basically a collection of short stories. They are organized by the date he wrote them, rather than chronologically, but it's easy enough to follow.
